You've pretty much covered everything from Sports to shooters to Platformers ... Awesome list guys Here's to a top 10 PS3 games hopefully in the near future
When the xbox guys had the Halo guys back in the day My buddies and I were playstation guys so we found red faction 2 for our shooting multiplayer! Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid I think back in the day we were all less influenced and more willing to pick ups games and experience them, rather than now where we get influenced by views on social media
Glad sly cooper is getting some love! Might have to checkout the games you mentioned. One of the games I am playing is the warriors by rockstar! Great beat ‘em up game by rockstar based on the 1970s classic movie
Yes 007 NightFire!! Such an under appreciated game for any console or PC. I had it on PC and loved we got a 007 game that wasnt a direct movie tie in. I appreciate the differentiation between "best" and "what we play." Being about the same age as Wes, I dont always have the time to sync hours and hours into a "Best" game and sometimes just need a good ol quick nostalgia kick. Enjoying the series guys keep it up! Cheers!
Yeah the bond games back then were all 🔥! Yeah we got a couple comments last video because it went 10 to 1 and they thought we meant it as a top ten list! Cheers!
PS2 is the Goat, I used to go days without sleep, straight addicted to that and my GameCube. My favorite ps2 games were SvR 2007, NFL 2K5, MVP baseball 2005, NFL Street 2, Madden 2005, Spider-Man 2, God of War 1 and 2, GTA San Andreas, True Crime, NHL 2004, Smack Down Here comes the Pain
Now that my son is old enough, we’re playing Burnout 3 almost everyday now. Split screen road rage mode is our thing and we’re having a great time with it. The PS2 is all we have or need. 👍🏻
Great video guys. Still play OutRun 2006 Coast to Coast pretty regularly on the PS2. Don't have an Xbox, and missed out on the digital copy of the HD version on PS3 (another con for digital only), so PS2 is the best version I've got (also on PSP). Still quite amazing and impressive to this day. Absolutely love the game, and the PS2. And even though, a lot of the games are on other consoles/collections now, I still fire up the Taito Legends collections (1 and 2) every now and again.
I just got that klonoa collection on the switch, when games get ported to current gen like that I usually sell off the older versions which is cool because the older version are worth a good bit, soo much soo that when I visit the game store I usually have enough extra money to hit the top shelf at the dispo on the way home 😀 hope you boys are doing well, sending good vibez from Baltimore
Nice video/list boys. On my PS2 currently playing Vampire Night, finally diving into the 1st Deus Ex game, and the Killer 7 copy I picked up at Jay's CD and Hobby with you guys. Take care and looking forward to your Xbox episode. Cheers.
Resident evil 4, metal gear solid 3, San Andreas, shadow of the colossus, nfs underground 2. Black, jak 3, ffx, capcom vs snk 2, tekken 5, silent hill 2&3, dbz budokai 3, just what I can remember
NBA Street Vol 2, Gran Turismo 4, and Soul Caliber 3 here! Picked up the Red Star a few months back and look forward to playing it co-op with my nephews soon.
@@GamingOffTheGrid , I love your list, but, honestly, I am convinced that there are far better games that should have been mentioned in this video, so here are my top ten criminally underrated video games for the PS2 that people should play. 10 - Battle Engine Aquila - this game is perhaps one of the most underrated types of games in its genre and yet it has gone under the radar, plus many of the things that you can do in 007: Nightfire, you can also do in this game, and, unlike 007: Nightfire, you can actually fly in this game. 9 - Area 51 - yeah, you would be thinking about the on-rails shooter that made an arcade appearance, as well as had N64, Sega Saturn, PS1, and PC appearances, but, here is the thing, the PS2 had a criminally underrated reboot of the game that is among one of the best FPS titles that you can play on the PS2. The things that you could do in this game were of a level of insanity that would be matched by few video games in its genre, such as the System Shock, Bioshock, and Bulletstorm video games, which is honestly pretty good company. 8 - ESPN NFL 2K5 - yeah, I like the baseball games that were mentioned in this video (and I have my great-nephew to thank for introducing me to the MLB: The Show franchise), but, if there is a sports game that has just as much, if not MORE, longevity than either that game, OR MVP Baseball 2005, then I would posit that this game does that in spades, as it is one of the five longest most modded video games that are still supported by online communities of all time, with only the MVP Baseball 2005 video game that was mentioned in the video, and the Doom I, Doom II, and Final Doom games having longer, as well as more heavily supported, online modding communities. Also, when you literally make a video game that literally scared both the NFL AND EA Sports straight with its Madden franchise, as well as have not only almost all of the features of Madden 2005, but also play them better than Madden 2005, you know that you are a legend. Granted, that is also a double edged sword, as it technically is a legally permitted monopoly that has been allowed to be made over the past 17 years, and one of which any competent judge would have kindly told both the NFL AND EA to break up the monopoly that they had over American football games, or else be broken up themselves, but the fact remains that it was one of the best marketing strategies that had ever been done for a video game of all time. 7 - Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 - yes, this is not a skateboarding game, and, to be honest, I should have been like everyone else and had mentioned a safe title like SSX Tricky, or WipeOut XL, but when it comes to some of the big sports games that are on the PS2, everyone talks about either the Madden series, particularly, Madden 2005, or they talk about FIFA 08, and, while that game is a good one, Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 is simply a better game of soccer/European football/association football/footie overall, despite it coming out quite late in the PS2 life cycle, so late, in fact, that the last game for the PS2, which was its rival FIFA 14, had both PS3 AND PS4 ports, just a mere two years later. You basically should think that this is the soccer/European football/association football/footie version of ESPN NFL 2K5, or MVP Baseball 2005, and you would be right. 6 - ESPN College Hoops 2K5 - while its later sequel of NCAA College Hoops 2K8, as well as other games, such as the NBA Live, NBA 2K, NBA Street, NCAA March Madness, and NBA Ballers games might have gotten more attention, this game had around 400 regular teams, and around 200 historical teams, to choose from, plus the ability to make your own team in every aspect, even the mascots and arenas. 5 - Crimson Sea 2 - the first game was on the Xbox, yet the sequel to that game is on the PS2, and, to be honest, both games are awesome, so imagine typical Dynasty Warriors game play that is mixed in with elements of Alien Syndrome, Alien Storm, and the Contra franchise, and, boom, you have Crimson Sea 1 and Crimson Sea 2. 4 - WWF SmackDown!: Just Bring It! - yes, it is the last WWF professional wrestling video game ever, and, yes, it is a little rougher around the edges than WWE SmackDown: Shut Your Mouth! and WWE: Here Comes The Pain!, but it also has SO many match types to choose from, many of which have yet to make appearances in not just modern professional wrestling video games, but also modern professional wrestling (you bunch of weak politically correct pansies), and while its Create-A-Wrestler Mode is not as robust as in later WWE titles, including WWE SmackDown! Vs. Raw 2006, it still is a pretty good one overall, and it is certainly a step above previous WWF titles. I also forgot to mention that the game handles a LOT better than WWE SmackDown! Vs. Raw 2006 as well. 3. Rez - I find that Rez is a far more unique game than the Time Crisis series, as well as is also a far better game overall, and that it also does not get enough love. 2. Darius Gaiden (the Taito Legends 2 version) - yes, this game has a ton of games inside of that little disc, but, to be honest, the one that you want to play on this list is Darius Gaiden. While there is no Darius Gaiden Extra Version that is available, Darius Gaiden is still as fun to play in 1994 as it was in the 2000s, and just as it is also now in the 2020s, as it is a part of the Darius Cozmic Collection. Yes, Darius Gaiden might not have as many ships to choose from as R-Type Final, but it has several things that R-Type Final lacks, which is a lot more levels to choose from, more enemies, and more bosses, practically no slowdown, and a port that is arguably as good as its Sega Saturn and PS1 ports back in the day. I especially love the fact that you can have black hole bombs that can destroy everything that is on the screen, and/or cause sub-bosses to join you as a giant projectile firing mechanical meat shield that can make your already super powerful Silver Hawk into a force to be reckoned with for the Belsar. 1. Dr. Muto - yes, I like the Sly Cooper series, and the first game was a legendary PS2 title, and its PS2 sequels, and its PS3 sequel, are all not bad, either, but, in all honesty, the story line was stronger than the games as a whole. Now if you want a criminally underrated 3D action platformer to play, then I have to let you know about this title from Midway that came out around 2002. Unlike Sly and his friends, you do not play as a thief with a heart of gold that wants to get his life straightened out, as well as has a complicated relationship with an INTERPOL agent, Dr. Muto is just wanting to be a scientific and inventive genius except that he, well, is not, and he is not as kid friendly as Sly and company, nor is he as hypocritical, filthy, perverted and sleazy as Conker, but that does not mean that this game should be ignored, no, not by a long shot. I will also make a second post about a list of honorable mentions for the PS2 that are worth playing.
@@GamingOffTheGrid , here is my list of honorable mentions. Phantom Brave - despite it being set in the same world as the Disgaea games, it is like that game, but this time, you play as the heroes. La Pucelle: Tactics - this game, like the one that I had previously mentioned, namely, Phantom Brave, lets you play as the heroes, and both games are honestly as deep, as well as long, and as good, as the whole Disgaea series, if not even BETTER games than the whole Disgaea series, and yet Disgaea gets all of the love because people are stupid and love to promote evil over good in their lives. Granted, neither game has as many features as Makai Kingdom, but they are honestly just as fun as that game, plus Makai Kingdom only came out on the PSP instead of also making an appearance on the PS2 in the NTSB-U or PAL regions, which honestly is a war crime. Test Drive Unlimited - despite having some issues, and not having certain cars and motorcycles like its Xbox 360 and PC ports, as well as omitting some features of those games, this port of the game is still a very solid one, even if there are issues with the controls, opponent AI, and a lack of dynamic lighting and weather patterns. However, this game, as well as its PSP port, both have features that were later put into the fan mod PC version of Test Drive Unlimited Platinum (which is to not be confused with the Japanese Xbox 360 title of the same name, despite both games being based upon the same base game). True Crime: Streets of L.A., - despite not having nearly as much of a budget as the Grand Theft Auto or Saints Row franchises, I honestly find this game to be a far better game than any of them overall, as its combat system, enemy AI, vehicular handling, overall story content, and story all are superior to either franchise in every way and one can also argue that it influenced one other criminally underrated title that was made by Rockstar for newer video game consoles and other gaming systems, namely, L.A. Noire, and, in a sense, it kind of feels simultaneously like a prototype for that series, as well as a sequel to that series that happens around five decades later. I will also point out that its game exploration map is also bigger than ALL of the Grand Theft Auto and Saints Row area exploration maps COMBINED in the terms of just how much area that can be explored in the game, so one can also come to the conclusion that it, in a way, had also influenced the Test Drive Unlimited games in the terms of the accuracy to real life locations with their own in game maps. Yes, its sequel of True Crime: New York was kind of disappointing, and its second sequel of True Crime: Hong Kong, was thought to be ultimately cancelled, but it got a second life on newer video game consoles as the Sleeping Dogs franchise, so, despite the game having an inferior sequel, as well as it getting a name and producer change with the remnants of its second sequel being remade, and reworked, one could say that True Crime: Streets of L.A. was far ahead of its time. Also, like L.A. Noire, True Crime: Streets of L.A. had a morality system, which is one of the reasons of why I value it and L.A. Noire over either the Saints Row or Grand Theft Auto franchises, and that said morality system also had made there be a truly dynamic and expansive story line that changes practically each time that you play the game. Cold Winter - this game is not just one of the most arguably, as well as criminally, underrated, FPS games that is on the PS2, but also of all time. Sure, you can talk about Half-Life, 007: Nightfire, Unreal Tournament, Quake III: Revolution, Star Wars Battlefront I and II, the Time Splitters Trilogy, and even the Serious Sam games all that you want, but, in all honesty, Cold Winter not only brought back game mechanics that had been abandoned from FPS games a decade prior, but that it also brought plenty of new things to the table, many of which are still used in modern video games. Black - yes, I had mentioned another FPS, but this one is also a criminally underrated masterpiece. Yes, EA had plenty of awesome games, including FPS titles in the Star Wars and Battlefield franchises, but, to be honest, Black is the best of the bunch, and while it got a spiritual sequel on more modern video game consoles under Codemasters, rather than EA, namely due to EA cancelling the title, it, meaning the cancelled Black 2 came back as the horribly rushed Bodycount, which, unfortunately, was...average at best. Had Black 2 been allowed to be made, I think that it would have far surpassed both Bodycount and Black in quality. Oh, and if you have an Xbox or PC, well, Black is on those systems as well. NCAA Football 06 - one can argue that this game is not only the greatest college American football game that is on the PS2, but also the greatest college American football game of all time, AND certainly an easy top five pick for the greatest American football game of all time. Radiata Stories - this underrated Square Enix game honestly is a far better title than any of the Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts entries and one can also say that it influenced more recent offerings from Square Enix, such as Octopath Traveler and the Bravely Default series. The core of the game is a hybrid of the Saga series of Square Enix and the Suikoden series from Konami, so there is a lot of content to go through in this game. Castle Shikigami 2 - this game is a super rare, and, thus, consequently, super hard to find, vertical shooter for NTSB-U PS2 systems, yet it is among the best of those sorts of titles to offer on the PS2, and it is also a superb touhou (bullet hell) shooter, not to mention that it is also one of the few of them that ever made it to Western audiences. Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 - while this game did not reinvent the wheel when it came to the FPS, it sure made a good claim to the genre, and it is seriously worth your time to play this game. I will continue my honorable mentions in another post.
@@GamingOffTheGrid , I am continuing my honorable mentions for PS2 games that still should be played in 2022. Raiden III - while it is not as good as its predecessors, it is still a surprisingly good game for the PS2 and it is also worth your time. However, if you truly want to play Raiden I and Raiden II, well, most PS2 systems can play most PS1 games and you can just pop in a PS1 video game that is called The Raiden Project, which has both games on there (sorry, no Super Raiden or Raiden DX ports are in the game, unfortunately, but, hey, at least you have automatic firing options now, which is a VERY good inclusion in those games) and have some near-arcade perfect fun with those two games that are inside of that game instead. Project: Snowblind - this game is also a must play FPS for the PS2 that does not get enough love. Both Cold Winter and this game have SO many good things that are going for those titles. SWAT: Global Strike Team - while not as solid of a game as Cold Winter or Project Snowblind, it is still a pretty good, as well as criminally underrated, game in its own right. Return to Wolfenstein: Operation Resurrection - while it is not quite Doom III, or as good as the modern Wolfenstein games, it did lead to those other Wolfenstein games being made, but it is also not as bad of a game as other people claim that it is on the PS2. Tomb Raider: Legend - after the disastrous Tomb Raider (V): The Angel of Darkness nearly killed this franchise, the sixth game in the franchise, namely, Tomb Raider: Legend, brought it back to spectacular fashion, and it is also not only one of the highlights of the entire franchise, but that it also is one of the most graphically beautiful games of any system that it is on, and the PS2 is definitely not an exception to the rule. Moreover, the whole Tomb Raider franchise has gone on to inspire a whole host of other games in its wake, ranging from the Uncharted franchise to the vast majority of LEGO games. Monster Rancher 3 - in a glut of Pokemon clones, this franchise was honestly one of the better ones, and, furthermore, both the kinds of monsters, as well as the types that they could unleash, are FAR beyond the entire scope of the three decade old Pokemon franchise, and this game of the franchise is honestly one of the best entries, if not THE best entry, of the whole franchise. Moreover, you can literally use CDs, as in actual music CDs, regardless of where they are from in the world, AND DVDs, to make your monsters in the game, and this entry in the franchise was the first game to allow for both things to be used for this game. Also, it is the only game that is in the series that allows you to trade monster data between monster cards, and to do something similar to that, you would need to have two different systems and a linking cable to do that to Pokemon games, as well as two copies of the same game. Monster Rancher 4 - this game is almost as good as its predecessor, but what applied to that game pretty much applies to this one as well. NCAA Football 2004 - this game is another solid college American football game. NCAA Football 07 - this game is another solid college American football game. NCAA Football 08 - this game is another solid college American football game. I will end my honorable mentions in another post.
@@GamingOffTheGrid , I am continuing my honorable mentions for PS2 games that still should be played in 2022. P.T.O. IV - a long time has come from this game having its heyday on the SNES/NSFC and the Sega Genesis, but this last game in the series is arguably one of its best entries. Dai Senryaku VII: Exceed - a.k.a. Daisenryaku VII, well, what do you get when you combine the classic board games of Risk and Stratego, and learn from the aforementioned P.T.O. video game series and the legendary Command and Conquer video game series? The answer to that question is that you get this game. Yes, even though a pretty good version of this game already exists on the Xbox, the PS2 updated version actually has some new features that makes it the better choice to get, such as not just a regular Mission Mode that is based upon fictional battles, but that you can also unlock new units, as well as new maps, a Campaign Mode that is based upon real life World War II battles that actually took place in the Pacific Theater of Operations, hence the P.T.O. that is mentioned in the previous game, and said units and maps that were hidden behind codes on the Xbox predecessor of this game can be automatically unlocked in this port of the game upon the completion of certain tasks that are in the game. Finally, a Metacritic rating of 74% is pretty safe to say that this game is a hidden, as well as underrated, gem on the PS2. Enthusia Professional Racing - had Konami had a bit more funding, as well as drive, and effort, into this game, it honestly could have killed the Gran Turismo franchise...yes, this game was that good, and yet very few people know that it exists, which is a shame, as it is a damn solid, as well as stellar, example of a PS2 racing game. The Mark of Kri - this game is not just another mindless hack-and-slash/beat-em-up/brawler game, but it has a very good story and a lot of features that helped it to stand out from the pack. Unfortunately, it is all but forgotten in the modern era, and that is a shame. Urban Chaos: Riot Response - now if you like Rocksteady Studios and its Batman Arkham games, well, this game is not that, but that does not mean that this game is not a spectacular FPS in its own way. Beatdown: Fists of Vengeance - what do you get when you have the awesome beat-em-up/brawler mechanics of God Hand without its super silliness and throw it into the world of a typical Grand Theft Auto game? The answer is that you get Capcom and its attempt at an answer to the legendary Yakuza series from Sega. Basically, Beatdown: Fists of Vengeance is pretty much what Final Fight: Streetwise should have been in the first place. Shadow of Rome - while we are speaking about Capcom games, this one is a criminally underrated work of historical fiction that has a beautiful story that is told in video game form. Basically, the game revolves around the assassination of real life Roman Emperor Julius Caesar and the quest of one person to clear themselves from being falsely charged of the crime, yet it is so much more than that little bit of story alone. There was going to be a sequel to this game, but, unfortunately, the idea for a sequel to this game was scrapped and its game play mechanics were recycled into the much more well loved, as well as critically acclaimed, Dead Rising series, though this game is a masterpiece itself, despite the limitations of not enough development time. ICO - this game is one of the most underrated gems on the PS2, and for good reason. Granted, the game is not long, but it has a beautiful story, as well as plenty of replay value. Freedom Fighters - if you like the Mercenaries series, then you will absolutely love this game. Okami - this game is honestly one of the best homages to The Legend of Zelda ever, despite it very much being its own game. I will end my honorable mentions in another post.
Said it earlier, but play blood will tell. Just get the PAL version and a PAL ps2 slim that will also work on 110V or use a modded console. Keep on gaming!
Heh, so many GotG game staples here. Freaking love the PS2, such an amazing and versatile console with an ever impressive library. Even this toe dip into it really showcases how much it STILL has to offer.
Wes & Robert really enjoying this series! I also play Tiger Woods 06 & 007 Nightfire all the time, for me it’s on the GameCube, appreciate you guy’s, cheers!
Guys, I am surprised that Timesplitters Series is not mentioned; The single player is OK, but the multiplayer is an absolute blast. Wacky characters + fun weapons+ 60 fps+customizable death matches+create a map= Joy for ages. Fans actually created LAN access to play the games' multiplayer after the servers shut down; the series was that good.
Nice! Opening with 007 Nightfire. I agree with Robert that this should go under PS2 and not GameCube. Played this growing up with my friend on his PS2. I had a GameCube at the time and bought it for the GameCube but it just didn't feel the same.
The Castlevania games on PS2 are really underrated and fun. Not a lot of people are fans of the 3D castlevania games but the Ps2/Xbox ones are an exception imo
I always find myself going back to the PS2 to play the Warriors, NFL Head Coach and Svr 07 but my absolute favorite is MGS3. I beat it at least once a year 😂
josh we all have those games we beat more than once i remember when i was little even though i beat it all ready i played skylanders but this time i beat it with my friends one of my favourite gaming memories
Love your videos been watching since the start! I play suikoden V on ps2 and okami and wizardry. I love playing ssx tricky to Ow and ratchet and clank!!!
Yoooo my best friend in highschool had Red faction 2 for PS2 plus the multiplayer adapter so we could play 4 player split screen. Great times. We easily spent just as much time with RF2 as we did playing Halo.
Original Ratchet and Clank, the original Jak trilogy, Tekken 5. I wasn't aware that 007 Nightfire has multiplayer, I got an copy like 2 years ago and only checked single player, thought that it is decent and tossd it on the shelf for another time. I really need to try it soon with my bro. Thanks guys! 😊
LOL yeah he has a goofy stance! He gets me alot of singles and doubles so it works! I cant really argue MLB the show 08 is better its just the one i dove deep into and all my passion went to! Cheers!
0:33 here comes 2! Haven't played a ton of games, let alone retro stuff lately. Last time playing PS2 would have been for older NFL GameDay games for PS1 and PS2 and maybe the launch Nascar and Madden game. Haven't dabbled into it in quite a while. Typically it is OG Xbox where I've spent my time on retro stuff, which I'll look forward to that video from you guys. Cheers 🍻
Yeah ironically being playstation guys we have noticed we spent more time on the xbox! Being a tournament Madden player i didnt spend alot on time on the NFL Gameday games like i should! Cheers!
Having seen your videos, I knew you had to include Red Star in your top 10. If you haven't picked up a *non-force feedback racing wheel (one that plugs in a controller port instead of the USB port) for your PS2, it's a must have for the Time Crisis arcade experience giving you a fully functional foot pedal. "ACTION!"
Video starts off with Nightf...THUMBS UP!!! I'm a simple man y'all,it's not hard😎🍻🍺 sadly my PS2 barley works but on the top of my head I'm on the NFL,NBA Streets,Mortal Kombat Deception,Madden 07,all GTA games,NHL Hitz 2002,Marvel vs Capcom 2 and max Payne
I could sugjest some banger for you but you probably allready have them like bully and simpsons road rage, the godfather, rampage total distruction. But one game that i didnt know existed till like 1 or 2 years ago that is an amazing 1 player game is indiana jones and the emperor's tomb. Love the videos. Keep up the good work. Oh and a throw in if you like pinball games pinball hall of fame the gottlieb collection. Cant wait till you do ps3 i got alot more hidden gens to sugjest there.
You guys!!! PGA 2006 memory unlocked! My friends thought I was aging too fast At 14 for loving this game but it was perfect because it wasn’t too complicated. Simple, to the point and addictive. Also we can never love on nightlife enough, love you Robert, never stop hyping that up. Excellent choices with God of War and Tony Hawk even though I personally believe number 2 is what revolutionized the series with an IMPECCABLE soundtrack. Wes you’re entirely correct about SVR recreating a new gameplay engine that fucked up grappling, it’s what made me walk away from series. But the winner of today’s video overall!!!-- Wes’s Britney shirt. EXCELLENT video boys ❤️
Yes the second person to notice the Britney shirt! Yeah Tiger Woods is a very relaxing game until you play competitive with friends then all hell breaks loose! LOL!
Games I still very much play on my PS2 -Armored Core 3/Silent Line/Last Raven (While Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner is exceptionally good, it ain't got the replay value like Armored Core's got) -Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando (One of the best platformers on the PS2, period) -Tony Hawk's Underground 1 & 2 (Just simply a huge fan of Bam Margera way back in the day) -Resident Evil 4 (boundless replay value on this one, especially mercenaries mode) -Tekken 5 (one of the best games for the couch competition) -Devil May Cry 3 (best game in the Devil May Cry series in my book) -Guilty Gear X2 Accent Core Plus (best fighting game on the PS2) -Ace Combat: The Belkan War (for when you just want that Top Gun feeling) -Gradius V (fast paced and badass like how a proper shmup should be) -God of War 2 (that game is just sooooo good)
PS2 doesn't even have the best graphics/horsepower of the consoles in its generation...but it's probably the greatest overall console of all-time. It redefined gaming in so many ways and launched so many IPs that it rightfully deserves its crown as the top selling console of all-time. Long live the PS2‼️👑
My go too's are Raiden 3 and, believe it or not, PacMan World Rally! Most of all it's the Metal Slug Anthology for my wife and I! So much value and the Metal slug games control so well on the PS2.
"War of the monsters"is such a good game. Presentation is great. Gameplay is fun. Both single player campaign and 2 player matches are fun as well. I have been playing this lately with my son and we both have a blast everytime.
Sly Cooper thing is kind of like me with Ratchet and CLank. I just played through the new one on PS5 and it's the first Ratchet and Clank game I played and it was stellar. I skipped over the Originals on PS2/PS3 cause lumped them into the kid games category. Thinking I need to go back and experience what I missed out on.
Need for speed hot pursuit is my most played game it has awesome 2 player, and I brought r type final at the start of the year, it's hard, frustrating but alot of fun unlocking and trying new ships also gotta say that r type delta is my favorite
You should check out the Zone Of The Enders games. Both are definitely hidden gems. For me it filled the void of not having any good Gundam games available. If you like the idea of large, fast-paced mech combat with a sweet techno/anime soundtrack, they're up your alley.
Thanks for the heads up on Sly Cooper! Our PS2 has permanent residence in our living room. The games we’ve been playing recently are: Darkwatch NBA Street vol.2 Siphon Filter Dark Mirror SSX Tricky OutRun 2006 50 Cent Blood on the Sand If you haven’t played it, I do recommend Darkwatch.
Darkwatch we have played! Love the NBA street series! Whats not to love about SSX Tricky! The other games i dont recall ever playing! Will have to check them out sometime! Cheers!
I have an extensive RPG collection, most of which I haven't finished yet - this year I am focussing on completing Wild Arms 5, the only one in the series I haven't done yet. You fellas have also got me back into old school light gun games in a big way - I have bought a CRT TV with a DVD player in it, dusted off my old Guncon 45 which thankfully I never got rid off, and I've been playing some Time Crisis. I also just ordered the Time Crisis Razing Storm triple pack for the PS3, Move controllers, camera, and gun attachment!
Awesome video as usual. You guys did leave out what is, in my opinion, the single best reason to play Red Faction 2. Storyline? Nah. Multiplayer? Nope. THE reason to play Red Faction 2 would be because it stars The Transporter himself, a pre-fame Jason Statham.
@@GamingOffTheGrid and as far as hidden gems, y’all should definitely check out Sky Odyssey. It’s just you in a plane completing various objectives. I can’t really put my finger on why it’s so good but, trust me, it’s really good. Cheap too. I see it all the time for $5.00.
Tiger woods PS2 games were so much fun. They kinda lost the fun factor when moving to PS3/PS4 and becoming visually more realistic and slower load times.
Just picked up MLB 08 The Show at Goodwill today for 2.99. I love baseball but not a huge sports game guy. I figured I'd give it a shot for another Brewers fan 😎
I still like to play Soul Calibur and the Tekken series, Medal of Honor series , and Need for Speed series . I agree the PlayStation 2 is the best console of all time. It has so many top notch games for every genre with no dumb updates or micro transactions !
Just a few standouts from that generation for you boys that generally aren't talked about enough in the wider community: Crash Twinsanity, Soul Reaver 2, Onimusha 2 and 3, Second Sight, Shinobido - Way of the Ninja, Tenchu - Wrath of Heaven.
Dragon Quest 8 is timeless as well AND since Persona 4 is coming to switch and xbox next year it shows that some ps2 games still got it! I mean, Persona 4 on STEAM sold 1 million copies- which proves that there IS some ps2 games people still wanna pay 40 dollar/euro for even digitally (crazy)
I also play all the games in a baseball franchise (except minors). I just bought MLB the show 21 Jackie Robinson edition for $15 from best buy. It's a year old but comes with a New Era 9Fifty Snapback with MLB The Show on it so I picked it up for the hat. I saw the hat selling for $30 in some places so might as well pickup the game too.
Just to piggyback on Wes’s comments about Red Faction, another underrated PS2 FPS that I’d rank higher than Halo… Timesplitters Future Perfect. I remember none of my friends would say they agree with me, but whenever we’d get together we’d play a helluva lot more Timesplitters than we would Halo. Just sayin’…
Never heard of the twin stick shooter, reminds me of cannon spike on Dreamcast but affordable, and yes sly cooper is bad ass. Now my question to you gentlemen is no JRPGs?? I understand pick up and play but there are a few with that playability oh well lol
Yeah unfortunately we stay away from that type of game because its just too hard to put that much time in one game! We are too busy so we lean so heavy on pick up and play games! Cheers!
I still play Madden 05 100% for franchise mode and the HIT stick. I also still play Tiger 05, Midnight Club Dub Remix, Battlefront 2 and Burnout 3 Takedown
Love the list! Madden 05 is one of the best Maddens ever! We play Tiger 06 all the time but i know Tiger 05 is a great game! And you know our love for Burnout Takedown! Cheers!
I also could talk about ps2 all day long. Sly Cooper is a series every gamer should try at least once. I'm still always playing marvels ultimate alliance, spyro a new beginning, destroy all humans, dynasty warriors, gta San Andreas, pac man world rally, Shinobi Also gotta mention how awesome the TMNT games were at this time.
Awesome video & series guys! I have to check out Nightfire now as I just found it at a garage sale disc only for a buck! My favorite console hands down. In 2022, so far I'm playing NHL Hitz 02 (forever until I die 🤣), Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition Remix, GTA: Vice City Stories and Predator Concrete Jungle. Predator is such a banger especially if you like Predator movies. You play as The Predator and it's so fun! Cheers guys!
Been hitting the Time Splitters trilogy recently. Missed out on them when I was growing up so now that I'm an adult child and buy whatever I want that I probably shouldn't..... I got em.
Downhill domination on ps2 is a game I still play alot and I agree with night fire it's in my personal collect as well. But I recently purchased the punisher for 30 so gonna play through it as well. But if I'm racing it's burnout 3 takedown or midnight club 3 . Such a fan that's why I got 2 consoles hooked up. One in game room and one next to my ps5
A few recommendations to try out in the future guys. Some you probably already know about. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turltes - The Konami cell shaded one that has the cartoon cover not the shitty movie one couch co-op 3d beat em up Silpheed The Lost Planet Gauntlet Dark Legacy - we already had this convo lol Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance Champions of Norrath
I was always a Nintendo fan, and was used to playing NES and SNES. So it took some time to get interested in Sony consoles. The games are different because they are 3D, and use memory cards. Not what I was used to. But gradually I started to get interested in PS1 and PS2, and also wanted to play the later Sony systems as well. But even today I still have some trouble with 4 shoulder buttons. Along with 4 face buttons, that's 8 buttons you have to memorize.
I'm so glad The Red Star made your list. A true hidden gem
For sure! Doesnt get the love it deserves! Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid proud to have been the one who mentioned it in the comments originally!
You've pretty much covered everything from Sports to shooters to
Platformers ... Awesome list guys
Here's to a top 10 PS3 games hopefully in the near future
We plan to do it for all the consoles we play! That includes the ps3! Cheers!
Red faction 2 is criminally underrated! So glad to hear you are playing it in 2022!
There is definitely alot more of that going on now then back in the day!
Man, on my PS2 I still hammer the SSX games. Just the way the game flows and having high score competitions with friends is a blast.
Yeah that series was so much fun! Definitely a great couch co op! Cheers!
Glad sly cooper is getting some love! Might have to checkout the games you mentioned. One of the games I am playing is the warriors by rockstar! Great beat ‘em up game by rockstar based on the 1970s classic movie
Yeah we like that game! We own it on Xbox though not the ps2 just because its cheaper on the Xbox! Cheers
@@GamingOffTheGrid cheers!
Found that game out in the wild for. 2 bucks. Heck of a score. I'm mean the warriors. I got the sly collection on my ps3
It is the 🐐! Love your list of games! Some all time classics! Cheers!
Now that my son is old enough, we’re playing Burnout 3 almost everyday now. Split screen road rage mode is our thing and we’re having a great time with it. The PS2 is all we have or need. 👍🏻
That's so awesome! Creating those memories! Burnout 3 is one of our favorite games! Cheers!
Have not played that game! Will have to give it a try! Taito Legends is a great series! Cheers!
The two Smugglers Run Games are good picks too. Nice Video as always. Keep it coming... Greetings from Germany!
Never heard of that! Will have to check it out! Cheers!
Thats something i would do so i can totally dig that! We are doing well! Hope your doing well! Nice talking to you again Brotha! Cheers!
Nice video/list boys. On my PS2 currently playing Vampire Night, finally diving into the 1st Deus Ex game, and the Killer 7 copy I picked up at Jay's CD and Hobby with you guys. Take care and looking forward to your Xbox episode. Cheers.
We need to dabble into all those games! Cheers brotha!
I just recently found this channel and you guys are great, keep up the great work!
Thanks! We really appreciate the kind words! Hope you continue to enjoy the content and we see more comments from you! Cheers!
Resident evil 4, metal gear solid 3, San Andreas, shadow of the colossus, nfs underground 2. Black, jak 3, ffx, capcom vs snk 2, tekken 5, silent hill 2&3, dbz budokai 3, just what I can remember
All great games! Few of those we need to fire up again! Cheers!
Some of my favorites are Amplitude, Black and Parappa
Played Black but not the other two! Cheers!
NBA Street Vol 2, Gran Turismo 4, and Soul Caliber 3 here! Picked up the Red Star a few months back and look forward to playing it co-op with my nephews soon.
We love the series but been seeing alot of NBA Street games getting love thats awesome! You and your nephews will enjoy Red Star! Cheers!
That's it, you've talked me into tracking down a copy of Tiger Woods 06. It will be my first time ever playing the series!
Oh man you wont regret it! light up a cigar pour a glass of beer and get some buddies over! Cheers!
If you like The Red Star, make sure to give Neo Contra a try also
We have Neo Contra! We enjoy it very much! Cheers!
On PS2 I regularly replay the Ratchet & Clank games and right now I’m playing the Soul Reaver games (across PS1 & PS2) for the first time
Soul Reaver is a game i havent played in forever! Great game! Cheers!
i just love the gameplay and your commentary 😊 u should do it a lot more with random games plus make the videos longer
Thanks! We have some longer videos! Just depends on the topics we cover! Cheers!
Hey dudes, bring back the $10 bucks or less game videos. Hell, bump it up to $20. Cheers guys 👍
We might get something going again in that category! Thanks for the suggestion! Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid fuk yeah 👍

I love Time Crisis 2 but I tend to lean towards 3, especially 2 player link up play.
I think it’s probably the extra weapons you can use👍🏻👍🏻
Both are great, iconic games! We just prefer 2! Cheers man!
I know it's August but I'm ready for your next Royal Rumble episode.
We are too! One of our favorite episodes every year! Cheers brotha!
Said it earlier, but play blood will tell. Just get the PAL version and a PAL ps2 slim that will also work on 110V or use a modded console. Keep on gaming!
Will have to check that bad boy out! Cheers!
Heh, so many GotG game staples here. Freaking love the PS2, such an amazing and versatile console with an ever impressive library. Even this toe dip into it really showcases how much it STILL has to offer.

We actually did mention the time splitter series in our GameCube episode in this series!

Dark Cloud 1+2 best games on PS2. I could replay them forever.
That's a series i need to dig more into! Cheers brotha!
Is dark cloud 2 worth playing on my ps2?
Nice! Opening with 007 Nightfire. I agree with Robert that this should go under PS2 and not GameCube. Played this growing up with my friend on his PS2. I had a GameCube at the time and bought it for the GameCube but it just didn't feel the same.
Yeah it probably does play better on the PS2! Great game regardless! Cheers!
Unreal tournament,Maximo Ghost to Glory,Driver Parallel Lines, Burnout Takedown 3,Jak and Daxter, Pirates Legend of Black Katt.
Love the list! Cant go wrong here! Cheers!
The Castlevania games on PS2 are really underrated and fun. Not a lot of people are fans of the 3D castlevania games but the Ps2/Xbox ones are an exception imo
Totally agree! We enjoy the whole series of Castlevania! Cheers!
Great vid guys keep up the good!
Thanks buddy! Glad you enjoyed the video! Cheers!
Glad to see “The Red Star” on here!!!! Such an awesome awesome game
Yes it is! Very underrated game! Cheers!
I always find myself going back to the PS2 to play the Warriors, NFL Head Coach and Svr 07 but my absolute favorite is MGS3. I beat it at least once a year 😂
That NFL head coach was a unique game! Only played it a few times but it was fun! The rest of those games are 🔥! Cheers!
josh we all have those games we beat more than once i remember when i was little even though i beat it all ready i played skylanders but this time i beat it with my friends one of my favourite gaming memories
Good ole couch co op! Cheers Action Jaxon!
Love your videos been watching since the start!
I play suikoden V on ps2 and okami and wizardry.
I love playing ssx tricky to
Ow and ratchet and clank!!!
Great games! Glad your enjoying the content! Cheers!
Madden 07 on PS2
I have had a franchise going for years...I love and miss the Madden cards
One of the best Maddens made! Yeah those cards were pretty cool back in the day! i unlocked them all! Cheers!
Yoooo my best friend in highschool had Red faction 2 for PS2 plus the multiplayer adapter so we could play 4 player split screen. Great times. We easily spent just as much time with RF2 as we did playing Halo.
As Playstation guys we needed our Halo. We found it with Red Faction 2! Such an amazing game! Cheers!
Great games! And Nightfire is awesome multiplayer! Grab a buddy and you will have a good time! Cheers!
Craig Counsel's stance in the background is life itself. Also, MVP 05 is the best, I agree with Robert lol
"ACTION!"
Ive heard of that but we dont own one! Might have to look into it! Cheers!
So happy you mentioned MLB 08 the show! That game stole my life for years, and I still go back and play it occasionally
Its such a perfect baseball game! Cheers!
All those games are 🔥! Not good at Mortal Kombat games but they are fun! those Street games are very underrated! Cheers!
Those are all good games! We are more into pinball on a pinball machine but we dabble on console versions! Cheers!
LOL!
Games I still very much play on my PS2
-Armored Core 3/Silent Line/Last Raven (While Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner is exceptionally good, it ain't got the replay value like Armored Core's got)
-Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando (One of the best platformers on the PS2, period)
-Tony Hawk's Underground 1 & 2 (Just simply a huge fan of Bam Margera way back in the day)
-Resident Evil 4 (boundless replay value on this one, especially mercenaries mode)
-Tekken 5 (one of the best games for the couch competition)
-Devil May Cry 3 (best game in the Devil May Cry series in my book)
-Guilty Gear X2 Accent Core Plus (best fighting game on the PS2)
-Ace Combat: The Belkan War (for when you just want that Top Gun feeling)
-Gradius V (fast paced and badass like how a proper shmup should be)
-God of War 2 (that game is just sooooo good)
So many amazing games on the ps2! Its our favorite console! Love the list! Cheers!
Ace Combat on PS2 made me fall in love with the system. Trying to acquire the AC5 HOTAS so I can replay the Trinity.
That sounds fun man! Hope you get it!
Heck yeah! Its our all timr favorite console! Cheers!
My go too's are Raiden 3 and, believe it or not, PacMan World Rally! Most of all it's the Metal Slug Anthology for my wife and I! So much value and the Metal slug games control so well on the PS2.
Great games! Need to dabble in Pacman World Rally more! Yeah Metal Slug is a hammer! Cheers!
Yo I just got Raiden 3. Looking forward to playing it
great vid i on the ps2 i been playing need for speed underground and wwe here comes the pain
Need for speed games were on 🔥 then! You already know we love here comes the pain! Cheers!
"War of the monsters"is such a good game. Presentation is great. Gameplay is fun. Both single player campaign and 2 player matches are fun as well. I have been playing this lately with my son and we both have a blast everytime.
Heard good things about that game but havent tried it out! Add one to the to do list! Cheers!
Nice work boys. Tiger woods 05, the putting is 🧀 in 06.
Light up a cigar pour a beer and get three other buddies and its some of the best times! Cheers!
Ssx the first one, Need for speed hot pursuit 2, Time Splitters 2,Tekken tag Tournament, Rumble racing🔥
Great list man! Havent played Tekken Tag in a long while! Will have to find some time! Cheers!
Yeah you definitely should! Those games are alor of fun and alot of charm! Cheers!
I haven't been playing my PS2 lately but it's my favorite console. You guys need to play Hot Shots Golf 3 and Hot Shots Golf 4
Great games! Just been playing Tiger lately! Cheers!
Need for speed hot pursuit is my most played game it has awesome 2 player, and I brought r type final at the start of the year, it's hard, frustrating but alot of fun unlocking and trying new ships also gotta say that r type delta is my favorite
Played some of the Need for Speeds but haven't ever done a deep dive. Need to at some point for sure. Thanks for watching and cheers to the PS2!
Motorstorm Arctic Edge and Downhill Domination stay on my rotation.
Two games we need to try! Cheers!
You should check out the Zone Of The Enders games. Both are definitely hidden gems. For me it filled the void of not having any good Gundam games available. If you like the idea of large, fast-paced mech combat with a sweet techno/anime soundtrack, they're up your alley.
We do own them! We enjoyed them when we played them! Cheers!
As a Wisconsinite big ups on the MLB the Show 08 Franchise with the Brewers.
Cheers 🍻 to that! Got a game in tonight after work :)
Me and my boy would do coop against the AI bots on Nightfire, freakin Dominique and Alura always whooped us. I loved using that suitcase minigun.
That is fun to use! Yeah you can make those bots tough! Cheers!
I'm constantly playing the Hot Shots Golf and Ace Combat games on PS2.
Hot Shots Golf games are fun! If we didnt spend our golfing time on Tiger thats the one we would be playing! Cheers!
Love the list!!! PS2 is my favorite console of all time. Playing through kingdom hearts right now because missed out on it as a kid
Awesome game and one of the last RPGS i dabbled in! Cheers!
Red Star is an awesome but tough game. I'd love to see a video completion guide with tips and strats to beating it.
You never know in the future we might do that! It is a tough game but we like the challenge! Cheers!
Man I don’t know what it is but I been playing a lot serious Sam on my ps2. If you guys haven’t played it yet. You guys should try it. Great video
We have played it! We enjoyed it! Cheers!
Ratchet and clank going commando is my favourite ps2 game.
We love us some Ratchet and clank! Cheers!
Thanks for the heads up on Sly Cooper! Our PS2 has permanent residence in our living room. The games we’ve been playing recently are:
Darkwatch
NBA Street vol.2
Siphon Filter Dark Mirror
SSX Tricky
OutRun 2006
50 Cent Blood on the Sand
If you haven’t played it, I do recommend Darkwatch.
Darkwatch we have played! Love the NBA street series! Whats not to love about SSX Tricky! The other games i dont recall ever playing! Will have to check them out sometime! Cheers!
Bulletproof = bad game . man !
Awesome man! Glad we got you into light gun games again! Cheers!
My favorite PlayStation 2 game has to be we love Katamari it's such a great game
Yeah ive only played that once! Will have to play it again! Cheers!
That is a very true fact! I actually forgot about that! Cheers!
Interesting! Never heard of it! Might have to check it out!
Tiger woods PS2 games were so much fun. They kinda lost the fun factor when moving to PS3/PS4 and becoming visually more realistic and slower load times.
We love our tiger woods! Get you and three buddies a nice stooge and cold beers and you are set! Cheers!
Timesplitters had great coop memories too
Yeah i use to play it with some buddies back in the day! Cheers!
This year I've been playing the suffering, dead to rights and true crimes NY. Honorable mention Madden 07
Love the list! Madden 07 was one of the best Maddens made! Cheers!
Just picked up MLB 08 The Show at Goodwill today for 2.99. I love baseball but not a huge sports game guy. I figured I'd give it a shot for another Brewers fan 😎
Hell yes!!! Dude that team is loaded. Great team to start a franchise with. Enjoy. Cheers 🍻
I still like to play Soul Calibur and the Tekken series, Medal of Honor series , and Need for Speed series . I agree the PlayStation 2 is the best console of all time. It has so many top notch games for every genre with no dumb updates or micro transactions !
All great series! Yep that whole console generation was the last before updates and microtranscations arrived! Cheers!
Definitely need to check out some of those games! Cheers!
Tiger Woods 2001..... that’s my jam
We love the Tiger Series! We really dont know which one is best! We just play 06! Cheers!
Such a great game! Cheers!
FIFA soccer 06 on PS2, just can’t get enough of my franchise
We dont have much knowledge about Fifa games! Very popular Franchise! Cheers!
Nice find! Basically made money buying the game! Cheers
That is another 🔥 game! Its definitely up there with Halo! Red faction has my nostalgia that pulls it above Halo to me! Cheers!
Cheers!
I know what you mean being busy I’m Navy active 10 years and so is my wife reservist we are busy too but I make time when I can to game
Yeah for sure man! We try to cover lots of games in a short span! Tough to fit RPGS in! Not saying we dont or wont ever but its very rare!
Good video 👍 , y'all have done a great job on the editing lately keep up the good work 👍
Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed! Cheers!
That's how I feel about Red Faction 1! Favorite Fps
The original is great also. My nostalgia pulls me more toward Red Faction 2!
I'm still always playing marvels ultimate alliance, spyro a new beginning, destroy all humans, dynasty warriors, gta San Andreas, pac man world rally, Shinobi
Also gotta mention how awesome the TMNT games were at this time.
Love your wholr list! Though Vice City is my favorite GTA San Andreas is a great game! Cheers!
You will enjoy Nightfire! NHL Hitz 02 is 🔥! cheers!
Tiger woods 08 on the wii has been my jam
Those Tiger games are so fun with some buddies and beers! Cheers!
I like playing The Suffering and it's sequel on the PS2. Also Silent hill 1 to 4.
Great series! We play that style around Halloween! Cheers!
Been hitting the Time Splitters trilogy recently. Missed out on them when I was growing up so now that I'm an adult child and buy whatever I want that I probably shouldn't..... I got em.
Time Splitters Trilogy is a great game! Glad you get to enjoy them now! Cheers!
Great games! We play our burnout 3 on our Xbox! Yeah PS2 is our favorite console! Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid you ever play downhill domination
So far this is an unexpected list, I expected things like Sly Cooper or something, and still hoping for it
Ahh, there it is, right there at number one where it should be, lol
Great game we missed out when younger! Cheers!
PlayStation 2 games I’m still playing would be Burnout 3 and any EA Big games.
We love Burnout so we can dig that! We play the series on the Xbox! Have only dabbled in the EA Big games! Cheers!
Im a simple man. I see a new GOTG video, i click, i watch, i like, i comment.
Hey that sounds like a good plan! Cheers brotha!
Urban Chaos & True Crime are games that could use a remake now but are def underrated gems
Though i cant see it happening that would be cool if they did! Cheers!
Wow having friends looks cool! Wish I had friends too!
😂 go out and make some and game! Truly a grear experience! Cheers!
A few recommendations to try out in the future guys. Some you probably already know about.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turltes - The Konami cell shaded one that has the cartoon cover not the shitty movie one couch co-op 3d beat em up
Silpheed The Lost Planet
Gauntlet Dark Legacy - we already had this convo lol
Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance
Champions of Norrath
Few games to try out here! Thanks for the recommendations! Cheers!
Great list and I love your Britney T-shirt !!!!
Thanks man! One of my first crushes! Cheers!
Its all what you use to we get that! Cheers!
