Fix for firmware update failure and corruption.
If you are having problems with your Xiaomi Dafang IP camera especially after a firmware update, then this might be a fix for the problem.
This will help with:
Connection time out
Boot loop
Random reboots
Failure to record motion
No screenshots
Error messages in the Xiaomi app
So just remove the power and then the micro sd card. If you are interested to see what is on the card then feel free to browse the card in Windows explorer or on whatever PC or device you have available.
Select the micro SD card and format it back to the factory defaults.
Put the card back in the camera, then power the camera and rerun the setup by pressing the reset button.
That should be it. You may need to rename the camera etc and setup any specific features like motion detection etc, but it is better to do that than have to buy a new camera!

Hi had a Dafang working till this weekend. Cannot connect to view camera anymore, getting the timeout error 1000. Tried all the options, and eventually opted to downgrade firmware, Once I connected, I got a prompt to upgrade firmware. Once it completed, I tired to view camera settings, and got a new pop up screen in the app, stating the product is only used in mainland China. :( My settings are mainland China, so I guess the Dafang camera is locked down now?
Yes all the app and settings need to be in mainland china but you can change your locale to UK.
Mine are still working but not sure why? Seems the Xiaomi cameras are going end of life?

NUNOACT google da fang hacks. Wouldn’t recommend doing this, as you cannot use the MiHome once you have installed this firmware. I just did it to be sure I had reset my camera, as it was not working anyway.
After i reformat the card, i can detect it again but it can't scan the qr code. Any advice?
Got mine working ok for two days now. Reformat of the card and fixed IP assignment in dhcp solved it for me hopefully.

I did the upgrade straight after I received the camera. It is working fine for days now, even with a few power downs to be able to place the camera somewhete else.
I have noticed mine is playing up again but it is the one that has the potential bad SD card, so it seems the card is the problem not the camera 😁
@@mikesunboxing I also have problems with my Dafang - it was working correctly until I noticed a 2 days ago that I cannot access the video feed! I can add the camera to the MiHome app, it scans the barcode and setup goes fine, but when I want to see the video it doesn't pass to the Authenticating step and shows "Connection timeout, retry after checking unobstructed". Can someone help? Firmware is 5.5.1.419. @Vlad Tiberiu did you had the same problem? I've 2 of those cameras, only one have this problem, same firmware, same connection! 2 different rooms.

I have the same cam (Dafang).
After getting it out of the box the setup went smooth and i got it connected fast. (no sd card inserted)
I saw that i got a firmware update so i did it.
After the update i never got it going again. (it doesn't scan the QR code any more).
I have it set on China Mainland, 2.4Ghz wifi, simple wpa2 password, 2A charger.
Got a 32Gb 10 class micro sd card and did a fat32 default format.
Nothing helps. The camera just won't scan the QR code.
I will also raise a ticket with xiaomi to see if there's something i can do.
Any ideas ?

Hi, got mine to be always stuck in "connecting 1/3"...if I restart the camera it will work but then few hours later it will get stuck again.. Do you know why?

@@cccaakkkee nope.. Need to restart almost everyday.. So am having a timer plug where it restarts everyday automatically.. But yea not yet found any permanent solution

it seems you need to download the latest firmware via the app or if that is not available you need to download the firmware from xiaomi and put it on the micro sd card and boot it up

Unfortunately, I still can't get my dafang working after the latest update. I plug it in and it does its little dance then I just get an orange light flashing rapidly, I press the setup button and it says (Google translate) "setup successful" then " waiting for connection" and that's about as far as it goes, it won't read the QR code and the orange light still flashes.
I have tried everything you have said on this and various videos.....any ideas? Can I download the older firmware again and flash it to the cam....I am no techie!!
Yes you can download the firmware and put it on the microsd card and it will work from there. I'll see if i can find the instructions for you.

there is a great forum at mi.com (xiaomi's main site) i think it was there, if not maybe i could send you it or if you want to i could send it to you in the discord server we run?
@@mikesunboxing I did look at their site but there is lots of talk about problems downloading from Windows, that it needs to be downloaded in .zip, I tried but it didn't work so a straight download would be appreciated

This is the stock firmware, copy these to a new formatted micro sd put it in the camera then turn on the camera and wait for the chinese speaking woman to talk.

My problem is, water mark of time in the video get freeze, after couple of days after every reset. ANYBODY CAN SOLVE?

Right at this moment its working fine. but came up to a conclusion that every time i connect to a NAS Storage, this kind of weird things happens. in that moment, if i open apps in another phone, suddenly water mark gets to normal to every devices. it is to mentioned here that i am using 3 different model mi ip camera under same apps.

My dafang unit has color purple, as per first owner it came out after they updated the firmware

My dafang is 1/3 connecting all day long, inalready hard reset and still, i dont use sd card
It will not work without a SD card. You need to install one for the device to work
Suddenly it works without sd card installed, hard reset and follow the step, i use mainland china for the server

Hi mike i dont have an sd card but have a usb stick i removed it and tried to do the set up again but still having the same error. (connect timeout confirm network patency and retry 1000 ) what is your opininion please ?
What country are you in and have you tried using a VPN?
