      @@drpeemac yes take out the card and format in a pc or Mac then run setup again and it should be fine. Had it myself a few times

    All-day trying to set this Efen thing up. Different model than the one you show. Problem connecting to router. After fiddling with my router and going through the steps you show, one by one, I found the problem. It was signing in from China. I live in Laos and was signed in as such. So I uninstalled Mihome and signed in again stating I was in mainland China and presto. Thanks, Mike. I should have known when the device was only speaking Chinese to me and the box had only Chinese writing. I live in Laos so it was available in a shop here.

    Thank you so much for this vid!! Although I don't have the Xiaomi cam you showed on the vid, you made me understand why my xiaomi ip65 cam gets disconnected all the time! Its original power adapter is Chinese type so I used another spare power adapter I had without see that it wasn't enough watt. So glad for this vid, thank you!

      @@max0479 It kept rebooting yesterday again although I changed its charger and found out that the memory card I used was causing the problem. Becareful to use ONLY branded memory cards that are fast enough, at least class 10 otherwise you ll have problems.

      Christos Petropoulos You are right. I still have random reboot, impossible to connect or connexion status blocked at 10%... i will try to check memory cards. Strange is that I have two kind of Xiaomi Cam (ip65 and 360) and only ip65 have connection issues... never have issue with 360 cam.

    Hey Mike, Came across ur video when we had issues with the camera setup. We're now able to get the device connected to the App, however after we tap to use the camera, we see the screen "Connecting (1/3)" and finally the message "Connection timeout, retry after checking unobstructed". Have you come across this issue before? The camera is currently placed right next to the router and we're unsure why it won't connect. Thx!

      Try rebooting the phone. Sometimes it will have trouble using cached data for some reason. Or your router may have updated the external IP address and the camera needs to update the config

    Hi, what i found easier was to initially set your location to Europe (UK in my case), once your account is set up, change the setting back to Mainland China. The Europe option (if left active) will not present you this Defang Camera as an option when finding / registering your device. Also heed my advice, when resetting / setting up, mark the difference between the 3 second option and 5 second option, in regards to pressing the reset button, i missed it initially and that is what took up my time. Works brilliantly.

    I experience this problem. After several hour (25 hour++ running maybe) the Cam always time out (so i cant see it).
    But the weird is, i can still watch the playback of movement notif.
    And i realize that the Cam still recording even time out.
    I notice it something wrong with the power charger. So i decide to change it using another 2A Charger. And the result is same..
    It can back normal if i unplug and plug again the power. So, i buy Xiaomi Wifi Power Socket and use it for this Dafang. So when it time out, i can power off and on remotely using the apps.

    Sir, you're a star. Tope tips got my device working at last. FWIW it was the region (should be mainland China) and 2.4GHz that were at fault with my set up.

    Mate, does this device still work? Tried connecting mine. Got the blue light going on camera but can't don't get an image on my phone. Says "tap to reconnect or," click that and it loads only to 91% and reverts back to tap to reconnect or,... Any ideas? Thanks. Perhaps because I signed in with my Oz phone number?

      not sure sorry i got rid of mine a while back. i think you have to choose mainland china for the region and servers, but due to the age of these now they might have phased them out

    Hi, I have problems with my Dafang - it was working correctly until I noticed a 2 days ago that I cannot access the video feed! I can add the camera to the MiHome app, it scans the barcode and setup goes fine, but when I want to see the video it doesn't pass to the Authenticating step and shows "Connection timeout, retry after checking unobstructed". Can someone help? Firmware is 5.5.1.419. @Vlad Tiberiu did you had the same problem? I've 2 of those cameras, only one have this problem, same firmware, same connection! 2 different rooms.

    Hi, I had problem today since yesterday dafang worked good. I can only connect to dafang with the same wifi ssid. But if I used other wifi or my smartphone network it just doesn't work as usual. It just failed to connect. Thanks a lot anyway Sir.

    Hi Mike,
    I have an issue that the camera connects to the network (WiFi I presume) but later it said QR code scanning error. Tried a few times still not able to connect. SD card is in the camera. Not too sure why it say QR code error, hopefully you have some idea to help.

      Try uninstalling the app entirely. Rerun the setup choosing mainland China for the app and location. Then choose English language after.

      Hi Mike, thanks for the advice. I tried that, the app directly appears as English language although I choose mainland China. Still didn't work, the cam say it successful connected to network, later says QR code info error. I try to scan what the QR code says, it actually show the country & state that I am in. Maybe I later try with other SD card & router. Thanks again & have a great weekend!

      Good luck with it. Keep trying i'm sure that it will work eventually! It almost always comes down to the region blocking. Someone mentioned previously as deleting the apps cache so it completely forgets the previously selected region/locale

    Hello, my camera all of a sudden stops working. The blue line is ok but when I tried to connect via mi home app it says connecting 1/3 and stopped there. I think it is a general problem by most users. Any idea how to fix it?

      Looks like the Xiaomi servers my be playing up again. Normally sorts itself out after a short while

      @@milatemizer2460 mine all seem to be working fine with firmware 5.5.1.419 and they released a new version of the MI Home app today which also seems to be working great, although mine asks to be sideloaded as the publisher isn't verified.

    Hello, You recommended configuring the camera in china country but what should we do about the phone number that is requested during the configuration? Should the area code have Double «00» or not before the phone number? ( I'm losing control with this camera installation protocol! )Thanks

      Use the other options method and use a email address and password. Worked for me

    My limited understanding thought if you had s 5v 3a plug it wouldn't have to work as hard as the camera only needs 5v 2a and the plug would then not overheat?

    Hi Mike,
    I have a problem here. I already follow all your step. My dafang is working properly if I connect in same network (phone and dafang using my home wifi). The problem comes after I use my cellular network on my phone I can not stream the vidio, the proses stuck in buffering 3/3. I dont know why.
    Note : Iam not use memory card

    What if there is no option for MAINLAND CHINA?? I have only (CHINA), (HONG KONG, CHINA) and (MACAU, CHINA). The only one region that works is CHINA but i still get message its not mainland china and device would not connect. Any advice?

    Hi Mike! My problem is with camera-phone connection. During 350 days it worked OK and, out of the blue, no connection and, therefore, I can´t control anything. A message says "for use in China mainland" but my region "is" China. Can you help?

    Are the Xiaomi IP Camera cloud servers down again ? All of my previously working Xiaomi cameras have suddenly stopped working and now are all timing out on trying to connect to the servers. Anyone else seeing the same issue? Had a similar issue back in January, and it was the Xiaomi servers then.

      Mine seem okay ? I just had a notification for a new firmware version and I am updating now. The version ends in 537. This could be that they are working on updating the app too?

      Mike's unboxing, reviews and how to . I am running FW version ending .327. App on Android is ver 5.3.15 and on my IPad is ver 4.7.16. The cameras were all working earlier in the week, but are all down now, and all have the same symptom. Connecting then timeout and retry but never connects. I wonder if some / one of the servers is down, and different user ID's are set to connect to different servers, to provide some sort of load spreading / balancing ? I noted another user said his camera(s) were also unable to connect. I have sent a twitter message to Xiaomi asking if they have IP camera server issues. So it's a wait and see game now, no doubt tomorrow morning they will all be back online connecting... fingers crossed !

      I personally get annoyed with the notification icon so I update them almost immediately. I have never had any real problems with them so it is difficult to say if the updates were necessary? I also considered using the custom ROMs to make it into English speaking, maybe one day I'll give it a go.

    I have a mi cam 1080p magnetic mount outdoor camera I can't get it to update I've set it to mainland China but update stays on zero! Any ideas???? Another question why on this cam do you have to set your WiFi password with no icons or numbers?

    Hi Mike, since Fri 15th March, many Dafang cameras stopped working and presented the error 'Connect timeout, confirm network patency and retry 1000'. Xiaomi support doesn't seem to care as the camera is no longer sold on the official global store. instead, they'll refer you to the point of purchase for support.

      Thanks for the info Claudia. As of today 19th March mine are all still working. I am tempted to turn them off and back on to see if they fail to re establish connection, but it's a bit risky.
      I have had these type of problems before with them updating servers or the app and various connectivity issues that followed, but generally after a few hours or days everything settles down and works fine. Hopefully this will be the case here.
      I guess all we can do is be patient, although i have recently found a good replacement device that i will be reviewing VERY soon

    What if you have other device like roborock s5 which requires to Connect to Europe region? How you can use Both? Second account? Cloning app?

    Hi Mike, my Dafang was working perfectly up until yesterday I when I updated the firmware to 5.5.1.344. Have you any suggestions on what to do? Is it possible to downgrade?

      Have you updated the app also? There seems to be an issue with the new firmware and the previous app version. Or uninstall the app and reinstall. That has helped others.

      I just updated mine and it is working fine in the UK with the latest app version from the 15th July and version 344 so it seems you need the new app first then update the cameras

      Mike's unboxing, reviews and how to yes I've tried just about everything now. I already had the latest version of the app...5.3.19, but I uninstalled it anyway and reinstalled. I've rebooted the camera heaps of times. Now I have removed the camera from the mihome app, reset the camera using the physical button but it refuses to connect. It won't load the QR code, saying webpage unavailable. I'm in Australia, it seems to me that this latest firmware has some geo blocking. I've also tried a fake gps app but that hasn't made any difference. This is really pissing me off. Looks like I'm going to try and use the GitHub fang hack next.

      Try removing the micro SD card whilst the camera is on. It will make two clicks or chirps. Then do the reset button and try again.

      Finally after some messing around I got it working again. I reinstalled the mihome app again, then deleted the data in the app, rebooted the router, and it worked. I have a feeling it was the deleting of the data in the app did the trick. 😉

    Thanks for the video. I am able to setup 2 of my dafang cameras and see video feed from mi home app.
    I have 2 more questions:-
    1. How can we access recorded videos in micro sd card through Wi-Fi? Both mobile and cameras are on same Wi-Fi.
    2. Is there a way to watch or record live video stream on PC (windows 8 or 10)? Both PC and cameras are on same Wi-Fi.

      Hi danish3 you can access the recorded footage from the album's section on each cameras menu. Inside there will be the footage split into smaller files normally on an hourly basis.
      Screenshot or oictures should also be in there somewhere although they do have a habit of moving things around when the app updates.
      Officially you can't access the cameras from a pc but if you install a android emulator like bluestacks you can install the app within the emulator to view the cameras.

      @@mikesunboxing thanks. But i can only see photos and videos that i recorded by mobile mi home app. Micro SD card has those mini files you are taking about. I can watch them on PC when i insert micro sd card into card reader solid l ask slot. But when i go to Album, if only shoes photos and videos that i manually recorded during live stream. That's strange

      Have you setup the cameras to constantly record or motion triggered recording or just when you click record? If you are not seeing the files you may need to set it to specifically record when triggered or like i said constantly. I must admit i haven't checked mine for a while i dont think they have moved the recordings location?

    Thanks for video sir however my dafang after a month of use saysno sdcard or u disk and its not recording thus no play back please guide ? I did several time on off camera as it is mounted high it worked couple of time required format of card but no sd card or u disk kindly guide do i have to un mount it and press jard reset ? Or any other fix do you have?thanks

      The no sd card error is a pain. every time it happens i do the following.
      turn off camera
      remove card
      format card in pc (normally has weird chinese letters on folders)
      reinsert card
      turn of camera
      go into camera menu and choose format card
      normally this is all that is needed.
      if not reset device and run setup as if new camera.
      If problems persist buy a new good quality (sandisk/kingston micro sd card)

      do not know which one its using. 2.4 or 5ghz . i did notice that even tho its not connecting to wifi , it is recording on the SD card. i guess its sensing motion

      When you are setting up the camera any 5ghz WiFi with the same SSID must be temporarily disabled. Otherwise it will not connect.

    Hi, it usually works well but each 2 or 3 days camera needs a reset, pulling cord. It gets stuck i can't connect. After turn off and on is perfectly fine. Anyone having this issue?

      Have you tried using a new micro SD card? I had one that would go bad after a week or so. Might be worth a try?

      @@mikesunboxing I used to have an USB, but I bought a new MicroSD. I don't think that's the issue. Maybe the device is heated somehow and microprocessors stop working. What can you do 40$ sh..t

      Yes i experience this issue. And i know this is the power problem. I try several 2A power adapter and still same. So maybe i will try one more time using another 2A adapter.
      And maybe i will remove the case and hope the heat gone away.

      Yes without it you can't complete the setup correctly. As the camera has no accessable storage.

    I really enjoy your videos I find them very helpful.
    Maybe you can help me out with a problem I am having with my Dafang.
    I got it all set up a bit over a week ago and everything was working fine. Yesterday I tried opening the camera from my phone and it says connecting (1\3) and then give me a error message "connection timed out retry after checking unobstructed"
    I made shure the zone is set to Mainland China
    The SD card is brand new
    The camera sits inches away from the router
    I did not change anything on the router.
    I uninstalled and reinstalled at least 3 times
    At the moment the light on the camera is blue and in the MI app it says "camera is online"
    Any ideas what I can do to fix the problem?

      Sometimes this happens with these devices for a few days or hours then just starts working. I believe it is something to do with the servers being updated and taking a while to get back online.
      Other than uninstalling and starting over, or being patient, there isn't a great of other advice i can give you at present

      i have the same problem since the last mi home app update.. after researching seems like a common problem with the ip that is not from china... my dafang is useless for a month already still no fix.. xiaomi customer service doesn't seem to be interested about fixing this problem since dafang is meant to be a china only product

      in the router homepage is the easiest way or just look on your computer or mobile and look at the wifi settings

    What can I do?After the last update Its written at live camera screen, its working only in China, even if I set the region to China, I can't see live camera screen. I bought from AliExpress. Do I need to throw away my camera? There is any hack solution?

    Hi, does your camera working after march 15th. A lot of userd out of China reported that Dafang just stopped working. Mine too. Somebody reported that they may have blocked out of china IPs.

      After the last update two of my cameras went offline i had to remove the memory cards and format them. If you take the cards out and look at them on a PC if you see loads of text files or files with weird names it is likely the data is corrupted and a format is the best way forward. Also after some updates the servers get screwed up and you won't be able to connect or setup the camera for a few hours in some instances.
      Leave it 24hrs and it should be back to normal when you can't connect

      Generally if the codes don't scan it is one of the following.
      Servers are currently down or being updated
      Your region is set to somewhere that the device is not supported (it should be set to mainland china in the app)
      The wifi name has unsupported characters in the SSID name
      Check all these are okay.

      Yes! I bought the camera 1 year and 3 months ago. No problem inside and outside the home. 10 days ago...offline... talking about the new one, configured in 20 seconds like the onthers, but the camera see me the message “only in cina italian boy” 😫

      Is your router dual band 2.4 and 5 GHz? If it is rename the 5ghz band to something different from the 2.4 and try again. The 5ghz band really messed up my setup at first

      uninstall the app and setup from scratch. Make sure you choose mainland china when installing the app AND in your profile. Otherwise it will never work properly.

    Hi guys. Have had the Dafang camera connected to the MI Home app for 8 months now and everything has worked perfectly.
    Inserted a (Class 10) memory card and after that I do not get any picture. After I select the camera on the app, I get "lost connection" after some time.
    Blue light on camera lights continuously. Has deleted (pressed reset button for 20 sec) and reconnected camera to the network/app but still not image.
    Also tried another wifi network without this resolving the issue. Also has a Xiaomi Hualai camera connected to the app and this is stillworking very good.
    Does anyone have any good tips and advice?

      I think I found the reason: It looks like the great chinese firewall have been closed :-) . I see several other Dafang users having trouble om Xiaomi forums. But my little Hualai camera is still running for now....

      I contacted my supplier on Aliexpress and he says that if the camera's fw is different from 5.5.1.287, this may make the camera unstable and with connection problems. I have fw 5.5.1.419.. He is going to try to help me with an older fw..

      The recording is on the SD card only possibly for security purposes. The time lapse footage from memory is in the pictures folder but I'll need to take a look to confirm
