@@momokochama1844 Well, he found Captain Janeway more fun. And Q may have felt Captain Sisko was not important. Remember, the reason he was there was to visit Vash, not harass the resident Captain. He visits Janeway and Picard because they are actually interesting to him. He probably never got around to visit DS9 because no one important was there (yes that was a slam on Sisko). I don't remember much of the show concerning the captain except that he used his fists a bit. Words weren't enough? I should probably rewatch it because Sisko did more than that. I just don't find those who use their fists to get a point across, oh, intelligent. As I said, I haven't seen it since the show aired so I am only remembering a small part. But that is my hypothesis. Sisko was just not interesting enough for Q to bother with.
My favorite part of DS9 was the episode in the pale moonlight. Seeing Captian Sisko tell his story of how he lied and bribed his way to achieve victory for the Alpha/Beta Quadrant was both fascinating and heartwrenching. A Starfleet officer having to stoop so low to even think on the level of a Section 31 agent, was very well done and executed.

Surprised Section 31 didn't consider trying to recruit him, assuming they knew about his actions - Starfleet intelligence did know the basics of what he was trying to do, but perhaps not the methods that he ultimately employed. So that meant Section 31 knew, and it does seem a bit hypocritical of him to object to Section 31 considering his own crimes justifying the ends. Then again it may have been his guilt over his actions that turned him against the idea of Section 31.
Funny to say Section 31 is so low. The most basic instinct of any being is survival. If you have to shake off these high horse morals and ethics to ensure you survive, there's nothing "low" about it. It's just your natural response.
I think the best part of DS9 was just the more adult and serialized manner of story telling
My favorite part was the depth of its acting roster. You could go three rows down from the title stars such as Ben and Kira, then go down to the part-time regulars like Dukat and Nog, but even the infrequent returning characters such as Eddington and Zek. Virtually the entire roster of actors nailed their roles so well and added such a depth of story to the show where even bottle episodes felt important and valid to the cannon of the series. Each character had their role to play and DS9 did a fantastic job of weaving so many irregular characters into the shows tapestry. My favorite personally had to be Nog, watching this teenage Ferengi brat develop into a mature war-hero and a standard for his races next generation of children to aspire to (hopefully).
Nog's ark is one of the best utilization of Gene Roddenberry's ideal. After all, the Ferengi are an analogue for modern humans and here we have Nog, originally being portrayed as the common "dumb kid" with no future, and over 7 years grows up and proves that even at the bottom of society, where no one expects anything from you to the point your dismissed as a joke when you want to rise up, proves that hard work and dedication can break that glass ceiling. I felt that Nog was one of Ben's anchors in season 7 in the return to the dream of Federation ideals, that all can aspire, dream, and grow in diversity regardless of origin, -even- the Ferengi.
I liked how the defences against uprising also had a setting when/if the leader tried to jump ship.

I saw the little known musical version of DS9 performed at the Garrick Theatre.
My favorite part was Sisko's story right from the pilot. A man broken by tragedy seeking new purpose in a faraway place with huge obstacles to overcome. Story engaged me right away. I think Quark was my favorite character though.

My favorite part of DS9 is that it's the only one thus far, as far as I know, that has an ongoing story rather than just being a "crisis of the week" series.

OK, maybe I should have clarified that and said that DS9 is the only /Trek Series/ that I know of that had an ongoing story like this. I guess this should serve as something of a reminder for me that maybe some things aren't as clear as I think they are.
Best part of DS9 is Gul Dukat, a truly great antagonist.

Even the Wayoun that tried to side with Odo was overconfident.
The best part was that things weren’t always black and white, that is personified during the episode where Sisko makes his log about bringing the Romulans into the war. I can tell you however that the worst bit was that the federation never felt like it could lose the war, sure they fell back but it seemed that the Klingons took the brunt of it, whilst it felt the federation was stronger than it had ever been.
I always thought that DS9 looked like a biohazard symbol.

The best part was during the dominion war, The Seige of AR-558. It’s interesting that of all places War is most accurately covered in a fictional space show set in a far off future. It captured the pointlessness of fighting over a bit of rock, how young, peaceful people turn into savage fighters, and the terror and boredom of war without being to preachy and hitting you over the head with the message. There were no heroes, there were no winners, just dead, injured, and maimed.
It was brilliant in Quark and Nogs development as a character, and showed that Ferengi can be used for more than comic zany misadventure.
DS9 The entire dominion war! True favorite is In the Pale Moonlight. Close second is Major Kira helping the Cardassian resistance.

Favorite part is when Sisco says just before the battle to retake DS9: “There’s an old saying: ‘Fortune favors the bold.’ Well, I guess we’re about to find out.”
My favorite part has to be the side characters. Not the core cast. But Garak, Weyoun, Dukat, Martok, Zek, and so on. They really made the show interesting by expanding the universe beyond whatever the members of Starfleet happened to be up to. It is a big Quadrant, and it is great to know the Federation was only a piece of it.
I loved the serialized storytelling. It was amazing to see how the seeds took root and blossom.
Yeah, but there were many seeds planted in season two that never grew, like the species that wanted to live on Bajor but were denied. That could have easily been made into something later. For example: terrorist attacks after the federation retook the station
Great video again! DS9 really knocked it out of the park in its darkness and story telling. The way it showed a remote outpost at the center of a tug of war across two quadrants and the risks all sides had to take to survive on a daily basis made for great story telling. each season of DS9 took the weaknesses from each turned it around and expanded story arcs and improved character development like no other trek series ever did before. It was a great idea to have the central location of the series a cardassian station which was such a brutal symbol of subjugation and terror in the region. In a way the station itself had its own character arc come to fruition as it had to come out of the shadow of its brutal history and into the light beacon of trade, commerce, hospitality and finally defense throughout DS9 run
My favorite part is when Nog is accepted into the academy. Being the first of his species to enroll that's a huge honor for him. I thought it was an amazing moment in the series.

Mine is the one wherein Sisko and Garak get the Romulans into the Dominion war... I love Avery Brooks’ delivery and gravitas in the episode.

My favorite part of DS9 was the different kinds of stories a stationary location can tell vs. traveling starships. It was a nice change of pace. You had your regular crew, with character development; recurring outsiders from the sector, which created arcing plot elements; & visitors from other ships passing through, which spiced things up. Plus, all the shows from that era all docked at DS9 at some point, making a tangible connection between them. Plus, being a Space Station, you had more races on board, coming & going, to pull stories from, varying things further.
I love how DS9 expanded the Star Trek universe. Also the cast was so large they allowed so many of them to grow and evolve.
If it was a station that the cardasians used to strip mine planets, it makes sense. It looks modular. Meaning you could make the parts in mass, send to planet and assemble on site. Multiple bridges and rings would work well for slave labor and the pilons would allow for almost any ship to dock.
I'd imagine the bridges being used to control flow of slave labor. Remeber quark saying there were ghetto fences dividing the place up (6x01)
Not to mention Rome (only other culture i can think of with Leggett rank loved cities with access by bridge only and forts with concentric circles.
Favorite DS9 moment: Garek. The battles. The sarcastic humor ("I look forward to meeting Weyoun 9"). The complex characters (Dukat, Sloan, Winn). Garek. And Martok. I feel he doesn't get enough love.

Just a typical, power hungry politician, who plays the religious zealot angle to gain followers all the while being a complete contradiction to the religion behind the scenes, masquerading as some kind of friend and savior to the people.
My favorite part of DS9 is still the pilot. What an awesome note to start on.

vega24a The far end of the Wormhole was as far from Borg Space as DS9 was, so it would have made no sense for the Borg to take that route. Moreover, by the late 90s it was pretty clear that Trek writers had forgotten how to write the Borg properly. The damned Queen showing up in ST VIII really cheapens the experiences of Picard and the _Enterprise_ crew in “Best of Both Worlds,” let one facet of that story (even if it was one we didn’t see at the time) rest in peace.
It would also represent turning the click back on Sisko. He found peace on his first trip through that Wormhole, was able to stop existing at the worst day of his life. Let him move on, don’t throw him back there.
Garak. I mean, all the characters are great. Sisko might be my favorite captain out of the franchise. But Garak is my favorite character in the show and emblematic on how deep the writing was for DS9. Other series would have made him either one dimensional or insufferable. DS9 managed to make him engaging, intriguing, consistently written and over all, one of my favorite characters in fiction..
Personally, my favorite bit of DS9 was the cold war aspect felt during the antebellum period before the dominion war. The tension was always realistically palpable.

I love these ship lore episodes it's fun looking back at these very cool ships. As far as Deep Space Nine I love the fact that they were soaked character focused. You really got to know these characters and the characters surrounding them. It also was not episodic one episode directly affected the next. It has become my favorite series of all time.
I enjoy doing research on them to, i find out things i never knew..both behind the scenes and in lore
I think DS9 was small by federation standards and despite the refits in arming the station to the Teeth the Federation's space docks were given a hundred times that number. Off topic but I love the fact in DS9 starfleet finally realized that if your going to explore space you do it the Tau'ri way and that's with heavily armed warships and very much better armed and equipped away teams.
On that note I could'nt help when re watching stargate and star trek that Starfleet or the federation in general lack common sense when it comes to hazards dealing with NBC style situations.
Stargate was made by showtime who didn’t really have to worry about ratings and could take their time with the details and drawn out storylines. One example is how the dominion war didn’t start until 2/3 of the way through DS9 while the war with the ghould (auto correct on my phone won’t let me type it correctly) started immediately and took the entire ten seasons plus a DVD movie (Continuum) to finally end.

If I remember correctly the artist behind the station wasn't told that "gravity plates" would be used, so it was originally designed to rotate. The staff liked it anyway and had is touched up to fit with in the Star Trek universe.
We know it was an ore processing facility. This was a plotpoint in "Civil Defense", and why it was built near a planet used for mining. I don't get why it had to have so many docks though. There's two things that go to the station: Ore and operating supplies and parts the station can't make on its own, and one thing that goes out: refined material. Why did it have so many ports when it clearly only had a certain amount of volume going in and out and was located in what, prior to the show's pilot, was a backwater part of space?
Gotta get that slave labor there somehow, especially with so many dying working the ore processing machinery.
Quark's Bar was also there during the Occupation, and was probably one of the few places Cardassians could relax, gamble and enjoy a holosuite.
the Cardassians established it as an outpost and waypoint, so it has plenty of docks for ships to pass through and get repaired. a Starbase
I am very fond of the Klingons, and DS9 delved deeper into their culture than previous ST series. One of my favorite episodes is when the clone of Kahless "returns" on Boroth, and appears to Worf...classic in my opinion.

The return of Kahless was TNG but the expansion of their culture in DS9 was great.
Something I think would be a good series for Star Trek would be an anthology series where they go a few episodes or a season following a ship of one of the other races. They did toy with this some with single episodes of TNG and DS9 but a more detailed adventure has potential.
All the characters on DS9 and the evolution of said characters in the shows entirely is what makes me love the show so much.
My favorite part of DS9 is the interaction between Sisko and Jake. Seeing a single father raising his son the best he could was already amazing, but the way they showed emotion and affection always made me smile
My Favorite part of DS9 was how it delt with the mature aspects of its show. Particularly the Elum Garak and Benjamin Sisko Dynamic. In particular It came to climax for me at the episode "In the Pale Moonlight".
"So... I lied. I cheated. I bribed men to cover the crimes of other men. I am an accessory to murder. But the most damning thing of all... I think I can live with it. And if I had to do it all over again - I would. Garak was right about one thing: a guilty conscience is a small price to pay for the safety of the Alpha Quadrant. So I will learn to live with it... Because I can live with it... I can live with it... Computer - erase that entire personal log." Copied in a log quote there.
To be honest my favorite character in the whole show was Garak. His half truths and mysteries were very intriguing and I loved him from the start. That smile he could do was extremely infectous and the fact he returns to Cardassia as it's re builder is fantastic and a reversal of fates in comparison to Gul Dukat who can never return home with his obsession with the pah wraiths.

My favorite part of Deep Space 9 was the epic space battles. Sacrifice of angels is an awesome episode and so is the first battle Deep Space 9
I love Star Trek DS9 because of how well it's characters interact with each other, how, for lack of a better term, they feel so human, so real. That's why I love it.
Sisko is definitely my favourite part of the series. Also the whole idea of a static space station instead of an exploratory vessel was a nice change.
I loved the "pimple" turret that swivels back & forth as it activates. Like it's way of way getting ready to brawl.
I liked that the characters were constantly evolving, the cloak and dagger episodes were the best.

The fact that continuity was consistent throughout most of the series. And its great ensemble cast that were outside of federation norms.
My favorite part of DS9 is when Admiral Ross Relinquish command of the San Palo and gives them permission to rename it the deffiant. Thank lore reload for all the amazing vids that you have done and live streams.
The huge, diverse and immensely talented cast was by far the best part of DS9.
The large pylons aimed inward never made sense to me. Seemed to reduce the size of ship able to dock as well as creating needless traffic.
It would seem to create more chances of ships hitting eachother, never though of it that way..
Maybe the Cardassians saw some benefit to keeping the shape of the station spherical, something that overrode the limitations inward curve pylons caused on traffic. Maybe the traffic limitations were intentional. Maybe the Cardassians wanted to be able to handle a variety of ship combinations, but didn't want to encourage a large number of ships being able to easily dock. Maybe the design was intended to give the station more control over its visitors. Maybe the design has some symbolic meaning. Maybe it was just (entirely realistic) bad design? The kind you get from dubious contracting deals, or design-by-uninformed-committee, or any of many other entirely realistic situations that seem to happen constantly in the real world.
The pylons were capable of rotating outward for larger ships. plus having them faced inward was easier to defend when the shields were activated.

Since shields are a thing, I think the reasoning was: if it can get through and hit hard then we are dead. No matter where it hits.
I know the contest is over, but Bashir and Garak talking to each other was the best part. I remember that Garak said something along the line of Bashir not knowing what true literature was. So he started loaning Cardassian novels to the doctor.
The best part of DS9, in my opinion, was how deep it was compared to the other treks. It actually makes you think about the morals, the right and the wrong of the situation, The issue with the DMZ and the Maquis, the moral questions in In The Pale Moonlight, Not only that but DS9 tackled some serious topics for its time and even in certain episodes predicted some of the future. (Past Tense part 1 and 2) DS9 was good overall because it was smart enough to make the viewer think, just like TNG made us think about things in a peacetime scenario DS9 made us think about morals of wartime and what makes us Human or just alive in general. If it had gotten more serious it would have put it on the level of the remake of BSG. That to me is the best part of DS9, there was no sugarcoating. The plot was laid out like something that could actually happen (Taken with a grain of salt since scifi lol)

Favorite part of DS9? Literally any interaction between Odo and Quark, has me lol'ing more than even Garak scenes.
I think the best part of DS9 was the fleet battles. Good to see a Star Trek show finally show us a bunch of Federation ships working together to take down an equally large amount of ships. In TNG, TOS and VOY we are only given ship to ship battles, but DS9's fleet battles made it all the more unique and better.
i feel like ds9 was more designed to look alien rather than practical. im sure what they had in mind was something that looked different and nice at the same time. something people tend to forget is how far along technology has come since this show aired, CGI was very expensive in the 90s and not very practical in terms of profit. one of the producers were probably Ferengi, thats why we had so much schooling on the rules of acquisition in the series. lol

The best part of DS9 in my opinion was the Dominion War. I wasn't that bothered about the show until I saw scenes of the war and it just hocked me into finally watching the show in its entirely in a huge binge watch! My favorite characters was Garak and Dax... (Jadzia more so) and my favorite episode is a tough one but one of them is 'In the Pale Moonlight'. Congrates to getting 16k subs buddy. My favourite part of DS9 was that whole 8 part episode In season 7, where the cardassians are rising up against the dominion.
The great thing about DS9 was, that even the recurring side characters where often better written than some of the main cast in other Trek-series. There wasn't a clear line between "good" and "evil" on DS9. On more than one occasion, Captain Sisko was forced to do horrible things by the circumstances.
I love the Doc's and O'Brian's bromance.
DS9 had several good parts. Blood Oath when they brought back Klingons from OST. Tacking Into The Wind when Gowron finally was killed.
The best thing. The Defiant, she's an ass kicking battleship ( though she'll never be as awesome and epic as the Yamato).
I really liked when they went outside of the norm for star trek. I like the more gritty episodes where you really felt for the characters. Also unlike in the other star treks you got to know the characters much better. The second half of next gen tried that but you got to know the ds9 guys better.
I loved the storyline of the Dominion War! Made this series Great.
My Favorite part of DS9 was definetly the Dominion Arc. Seeing the Federation meet an enemy so ruthless and tactically brilliant. It was interesting to see how the Federation adapted
I love the deeper storylines, the gray between the white and black.
The best part of DS9 is how often the federation utopia finds itself sliding into the gray areas of ethics. Having real interpersonal conflict in trek made it seem, well, more personal. It was the first (and best) time that star trek questioned whether a utopia was even possible to begin with.
There was one thing i liked about DS9. I LIKED IT ALL!!!
My favorite part about DS9 was that it was a bunch of imperfect people coming together as a greater whole for a much wider variety of reasons than any other show.

I love ds9 because it shows that the federation is not infallible. It put the human aspect of war on full display and because of that it makes the crew much more relatable and likeable. I also like how it dipped further into the other alpha/beta quadrant powers. Lastly I love that it had a black man as captain... yes it sounds superficial but as 6 year old black kid, seeing him command with such dignity, respect, and authority but also with such wisdom and cunning it really gave me something to look up to. A chance to see my self with the potential to be a starfleet captain...
You know, at first I didn't like the design of DS9, but then it grew on me and now it's my favorite station design.
Someone else might have already thought of this but I have a hypothesis about the “weak” design of the station. Whereas it was purpose-built to use slave labour for resource extraction & processing, you’d want the form to support the function of controlling your labour force. We already saw an episode where the station was riddled with anti-uprising failsafes (replicated weapons drones, etc). So consider that the design- a command core area with bridges to the hab & docking/industrial rings- also takes into account the possibility of having to contain a slave revolt.
If unrest arises in a segment of the docking/industrial ring, the bridging connections give the station’s controllers natural choke points. Reinforce security at the bridges on either side of the rebelling third, then use a pincer move that approaches from either end of what’s essentially a tube. Similar situation if trouble breaks out in one of the bridges- seal the ends, position troops at either end, and sweep inward from the hab & docking rings. The ‘web’ layout limits movement to fewer axes and creates segments that can be isolated and cleared, sequentially if necessary.
If the void areas between the rings & bridges were a solid, planar structure instead and the slaves siezed an area, there’s more ‘3-dimensionality’ available to them and you’d have to deploy many more troops to encircle the insurgents’ position to keep them from breaking out or slipping away.
I’m not sure I attribute that much sort of meta advance thought to the production designers, but if that was part of their process then kudos to them for really getting into the ‘cardassian mentality’ in designing a prop.
My favorite part is when sisko is trying to convice his colleagues that DS9 is real. "ITS REAL!!!!!!!!"

My favorite part is definitely when the federation alliance is on the brink of defeat and are doing whatever they can to stop the Dominion from conquering the alpha quadrant. As example: sisko bringing the romulans into the war
The dominion war arc contains some of the best episodes of Star Trek IMHO.
In the pale moonlight where sisko gives his speech; This not only shows the depth of his character but also the way DS9 is more dark as a series and as a result more complex.
I really liked that as well.
I always thought it would make more sense if the pylons faced outwards for docking, it would look way more aggressive and they would make perfect mounts for weapons. I know cardassian ships weren't massive but if it was for ore, then most of the ships docking would be long cargo tugs
My favorite part of DS9 is how much it expanded the lore of Trek. Rather than a monster of the week kind of thing like the previous two shows, it stayed primarily on the station, with the politics, cultural differences and and personal differences of all the species involved. I was growing up while the show was on air, but as an adult I came to really appreciate the complexity and genius of the show. Easily the best villain of any Trek in Dukat and the protagonists are not completely virtuous knights in shining armor, either. The show just resonated with me in a way that few shows ever have.
this is going to be controversial statement but I like the aspects of this series before season 3 and for those who don't know that's before the U.S.S. Defiant. the reason I say this is because in all the other series they have ship and this just seemed new, and I liked the idea of a survivor of wolf 359 hardened by battle and sees the faults in an organization like Starfleet and does stuff his own way.
Worf & War congratulations on 16k
What makes the show so unique so intriguingly good are the characters there relationships to the other characters and there philosophies with there outlook on life and how the story is played out which of course bring me to the plot itself with all these twists and turns the countless times where morality and subjective views are tried and tested on the showand yes the show is that good and im still in season four.
My favorite parts of DS9 in no order: Section 31, Dominion War, Further exploration of the Mirror Universe, Garek, and Sisko decking Q.
I always thought those mounts were already there but when the Cardassian forces had there going out party before episode 1 they removed most of the original phases and only left 5 torpedoes in the last working tube. The starfleet refit was when they finally got around getting the missing artillery systems replaced and working with starfleet parts modified to fit the cardi frame parts left behind. Being a Corps of Engineers master work rebuilding a station made by a enemy power with starfleet parts and having to retool them in the industrial replicator 's cad tool to fit the existing cardassian mounts and frames.
