Fun Vid to watch, you are getting better and having fun doing it. You walked under the one you got hung up without thinking (20:15). You never know when they may let loose. None of us are perfect and we all make mistakes, the secret is to minimize your exposure to the mistakes that can do the most harm. Thanks for taking us on the ride. Steve
You are obviously getting alot more comfortable with felling after this huge project!👍 I am still a fan of simpl😂 scribing a line across the back in the bark. Check to see how it lines up with face cuts and then adjust the bar angle before pooring the coal to the Stihl for the back cut. It will only add another 20 seconds to felling processing and allow the holding wood to work even better. Thanks for sharing and heckling from the peanut gallery in the background is what life is all about! Good stuff!!😂
Morning and thanks Wayne. I think you are right. I did that on one tree, stepped back and found I had my toe down again, and was able to adjust and then re-start cutting the back cut level. I think that makes great sense and I should have done that each time as I still had several with unlevelled cuts. Have a great Sunday !
@GPOutdoors Have a great day as well, Gord! The front cuts don't have to be perfectly level, but matching up with whatever happened on the front angle wise is fairly important. Scribing will help with lining the front n back up everytime. If you fell everyday you would soon have matching up mastered but just like myself. You go weeks or months between felling projects and taking the extra time is needed. 🤠
You have made some really great improvements in your ability to drop trees from when you first started! Still have a little trouble staying level when your standing and cutting below your waist but much improved. Don't get cocky, stay humble. 🙂🙂🙂 Always cool to watch you guys out in the woods. So cool to have neighbors like Guy and Husky Bob. They have taught you well. 👍👍👍
LOL! Thanks for the feedback. I try to make them about 10-15 mins as you know but thought it might be helpful for some folks to see all of it - especially those learning like myself. Have a great weekend and thanks again!
Ahh the smell of 2 stroke and wood chips, what a great day in the bush with friends, glad no barbers chair and all left with your heads held high. Cheers and have a great weekend.
Another great day in the woods when everyone comes out safely and the trees you fell are on the ground ready to be cut into blocks to split. You did good Gord and were able to get the ones that stuck safely on the ground. Great job by everyone , stay sfae and keep up the great videos around there. Fred.
Good morning Fred. It sure has been great weather here for working outdoors lately. Getting lots done , along with a little fun. Be well and enjoy your weekend my friend. :)
A long format video just means pop the popcorn and sit back and enjoy the sounds of chainsaws! I can almost imagine Christopher Walken saying…we need more Husky Bob! Holy widow-maker Batman @20:35! I cringed when I saw you walk underneath that one…be careful GP!!😅
If you could find a retired Hydro forester to come and give you a days lessons and pointers on falling trees it would be well worth it . I am a retired lineman and worked with those guys especially on storm damage . They can do stuff with trees that you can’t even imagine .
On your back cut and your front cut i think you need to hold your chainsaw more parallel to the ground. I think you will find that you will start putting the trees where you want.
Hi Gord just curious why you have the trailer parked so close to the splitter and such I high pitch on the conveyor - any reason for this curious minds enjoy the videos thanks
At 20:10, on those cuts of a hung up tree, on my top cut, I try to roll the saw away to cut more of the wood on the side away from me. That way, on my second cut, I'm cutting wood more on the side nearer to me and I don't have to lean in quite as much. Makes me feel a little safer from those quick drops when the cut is through. Excellent vid, thanks.

Thanks Gord ! After seeing the cut videos, this one shows us all it takes to do what you do !! Also shows all the hard work you guys do !! God bless !
Good morning Frenchy - Cheers!
I like using the little roller guide to file. Just as fast as freehand but adds some precision

Good morning and thanks - lots to learn still for sure - every tree is different. have a nice day out there and thanks for watching!
I am not typically a fan of the longer videos like this. I did find this one much more enjoyable to watch. Clean up on aisle 1! Happy forest days.

You too Pete!
Got to get into the wedge game. Use wedges to wedge over stuff.

That's a great idea Brian. :)) They know their stuff. Cheers!

👍
More cutting = more experience. Try different cuts and techniques and keep playing with what works for you and your wood.

Morning Al. Yes, that is as low as the conveyor can go. Have a great weekend!
I may be blind but was that chain on backward?
LOL!! Cheers :)
Please don't stand under the lean of the tree1
It could break free without notice and fall on you,

Thanks Scott! I think I understand what you mean. I'll give that a try. Thanks again!
