Something you dont see on UA-cam much is a shart chain. But you sir do a great job of keeping everything sharp and it makes it much more enjoyable to watch
Looks like the wood shed is full! good job, We had a 22º sunny day last week followed by 3" wet snow and an inch of rain! Weather can be so unpredictable. Cheers!
Great video Gord, such a beautiful day to be in the woods working. You and Guy got a lot done today on the twisted trees. It does burn good and more times than a straight tree. Good to see Bob show up with his firewood to split for the day.😁 Stay safe and keep up the fun. Fred.
Another excellent video Gord, thanks for taking us along. Great advice about learning to sharpen! I was in the same boat with you a few years ago and finally learned how to have a sharp saw and it makes a world of difference. Stay safe and keep up the good work!
I am happy it helped. I just blew out the driveway all the way out to the Concession Road, 3 days ago. I am winter -ready now. Love the power and so thankful for having it on my back and not having to hold a blower with my arm for 4 hours. Cheers and all the best!
@@GPOutdoors gave it a good run in today. It’s definitely a fuel guzzler. But it’s got some pretty good power. It’s gonna cut my fall cleanup time by about 20 hours. 😀
@@randomstuffwithjoe yes indeed it is - I have to re-fill 4 times to get through the driveway but boy, it is worth it, I think. Have a nice week out there!
✌️😜As usual living the outdoor life vicariously through your adventures Brother 🤣⚔️ God willing I'll be able to put what I've learned through you folks to work 💒🇨🇦 God Bless us All 🇺🇸🙏✝️
Good Evening Sir GP 😇🙏 You Are A Very Well Equipped Loggers 😇👌👍Yes any types of free firewood is good firewood 👍👌😇🔥Nice to see Guy Up spirits 😇 Yes Sir Hand sharpening Is THE BEST WAY and maintenance too 👍😇👌Yes of course the chainsaw table grinder sharpener is nice too 😇👍Be Well To Both Of You Good Folks Cheers 🍻🍻
Have you done a video on the burn systems you guys use? Wood stoves, boilers etc? i don't remember seeing one. You burn a good amount of wood through them. Hope you are all doing well.
Hey Gord yes a Sharp chain on any saw is the answer but you know a lot of people assume they sharpened the chain enough. Many of times I have worked with people that after a couple hours they had to stop and sharpen their chain some didn't even last 2 hours. Trying to tell them what they are doing wrong was not going to happen because at the time I was just a teen. Then one day while I was sitting down eating my lunch some of the guys asked me why I never sharpen my chain. I said because I don't need to. I said I sharpen my chain every night after work and I bring extra if I need them. The problem is simple don't just sharpen them a little and don't over sharpen them . After my lunch they all wanted me to give them a lesson on how to sharpen their chains. Odd as it sounds a coupe even were using the wrong file for their chain saw's. After I taught them I told them every night I sharpen the chain and I clean the saw and the bar so the bar oil flows smoothly. The next day the guys were all working and at the end of the day as we were getting ready to leave they all thanked me for helping them out. I said no prob but as I got in my truck I was thinking they would not listen to me before why now lmao..
LOL! Good morning Dane. Yup, I agree, I usually do my cleaning and sharpening early morning with my morning coffee. I agree with you - it makes the day a lot more enjoyable and the saw runs properly all day. Have a nice week!
So a quick observation and question: @ around 18:00 you were running the saw against the log, what was happening there? Yes, some nice rooster tails of chips going! I was out doing the last logs I had and filled 2 IBC totes with firewood. Great stuff on a sunny fall day!
There will allways be a discussion on what method is the best for sharpening a chain. I use the two in one. Never could quite get the handfiling correct.
When I was in college I worked on a tree trimming crew keeping utility right of way clear. We had some old country boys on the crew. They could sharpen a chain! They would sit on the tailgate sharpening and sharpening. While we were all working our tails off!
Same here, I use the 2 in 1 and give a shot at hand filing once in a while for touch ups. As many will say, it takes time to get it right and lots of practice. I go back to the 2 in 1 more often than not. 👍🏻👍🏻
Hey good day. I have a 20", 25" and a 28" for the 462. I have only used the 20" once I think, because when the log is that small, my 261 does a great job with the 18" bar I normally use on it. The 28" is great but I find the unit toe-heavy, so to speak. The 25" provides a nice balance and can get through pretty much any hardwoods we have here ( if you notice several times during the video, I hold the saw with one hand and the saw sits naturally balanced horizontally with the 25" bar on it). I seldom get these big 28-30" logs that we had today. The 25" and 28" bars are Light Bars, if that is helpful to know. Have a nice week and thanks for tuning in today. :))
Hey Gord. Id like to build a garage in the near future, but id also like to get an easton made axis. My question is how tall is that splitter. Would it fit in a 8 foot tall garage door?
Morning Peter. I measured this for someone else a while ago but I can not find where I put the measurements. It will not fit in the garage though I remember that. I think it was 102" inches ( but I am not 100%). I will re-measure it next week when I am back . If you don;t hear from me by nid next week, maybe post another comment to remind me(?). Cheers!
Hey good day Peter. Sorry it took so long but was in the city longer than normal. Here's the scoop. It is 8 feet wide, and 6 feet deep, when in the stowed/storage position. It is 102" to the top of the cylinder and approx 120" to the top of the conveyor. Hope this helps. have a great week!
Ok, I must know - where do the orange buffalo-check jackets come from?! Could I get them in the US? I've only ever seen red or green in wool shirt jacs.
Hey good day. They are made in the USA - and here is the URL from Big Bill. make sure you check the "sizing Chart" to make sure you get the right size. They fit really well - the shoulders and shoulder blade areas are roomy so you don't feel like it is pulling when you extend or raise your arms. Super comfy and rugged. Cheers! www.bigbill.com/us_en/quilt-lined-flannel-w-pockets-223q
Two "tools" I currently run because of your exceptional reviews - the Brave dual split and the Stihl 261CM. Now I guess I'll have to consider the Axis ... or maybe I should just stop watching your channel!!
LOL! Thanks - we still run the BRAVE - mostly neighbours along the concession borrow it throughout the summer. It's a great splitter and still running with no issues to this day. Happy New Year!
Another great video of friends working together and having fun! Thanks.

Hi Gord: Nice video, Thanks for listing the info about the saws.
How's she goin'? Wow, great day for getting at the wood. That splitter is awesome!! Take care!!
Morning Grampie! I am sure you are getting a little chilly there too. LOL.
For that small limbs and tops I built a saw table and cut them with my little electric saw. Works great and no bending.
It looks better the colder it gets
Great job gp !!!!!!!!!

It also helps to have a big chainsaw to cut big wood. There's power in that saw. And you know how to handle it.
Beautiful spots you guys have there Gord!!
Morning Wayne!
Thanks Gord.
I'll stack up 8 to 10 small logs like those on My extended Saw Buck, Line up one end and make 5 cuts and end up with a nice pile ..
Nice! Have a great day mike!
Nice technique for cutting rounds that are wider than your bar, just wanted to say hello from Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Morning Bruce! Thanks for tuning in and saying hi!
I thought you were into cutting wood for the exercise and enjoyment of it. I didn't know that finishing was a goal.
Im trying my best to use the break on a saw. One of the hardest habits to get into. Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day

Question ??? What is the Best type of Soup to eat in the Winter time ??? 😊😊😊
LOL. Good morning - for a quick warm up, chicken noodle always works but I prefer homemade vegetable or stews. :)) Cheers!
Tader soup with bacon bits w/ a lodda crackers.
Corn chowder, Seafood bisque, Italian wedding soup and just plain old chili.😊
Any French Canadian would tell you pea soup, and specifically, Habitant pea soup.
no pork

Yep, it all burns. We built a jig with old saw horses to cut limb wood.
