Yes, an iconic writer deserving of the highest praise but equally so in her speech which not only with great honesty openly displays her own struggles and take on life but with such descriptive narrative also gives the listener the opportunity to reflect on one’s own past experiences and curiously unfulfilled aspirations. A raconteur in the great Irish tradition, deserving of such very high praise. May she RIP for evermore.
Great presentation by Mannix Flynn. There was as much brutality and violence (probably more) meted out to Irish boys as girls in the past. Everyone knows about Edna O'Brien and the serious issues girls and women faced but the violence and brutality experienced by a lot of boys has been mostly ignored and denied. Men aren't as vocal about these issues.
What a marvelous writer, woman, and human being! I could listen to Edna O’Brien, read her books, or just look at her all day!
