Don's Light House. Haven't heard that name in a LONG time (think I still have an old shirt from Don's in my seabag)! We would start in Laquillo, work our way to Fajardo and eventually close out at Don's before heading back to base! Place would stay open as long as the party was going! We use to call it the "PR3 Party Tour". Truly miss RR. Spent many hours at the golf course. Then Bundy for pizza and back to the BEQ... Good times... Thank you as always Sammy!!!
If I remember correctly. The satellite dish at the bottom of that hill was a project for the the Armed Forces Caribbean Network on top of the hill. AFCN did tv programming as well as some other communication stuff. Across the road I believe was AFRTS. Armed Forces Radio Television Service. Which did radio station stuff. I also think there was a mini mart at the base of the hill of Nimitz Drive.
My family and i are going down there this winter and we want to explore some of the best abandoned spots in roosevelt roads. How do you get to like the old navy hospital and the hoghschool and areas you cant drive to with a car?
Hi thanks for watching, you can get to the entrance towards the Hospital and walk up the hill. To the high school as you can see in the video you can park at what was the elementary school and walk from there.
Do you know if they have forever chemicals on base. My husband died from colon cancer. He also had kidney cancer. I have had lung cancer 3 times and thyroid isuues.
WOW Thank you for the memories!!! I was stationed there 83 to 86, my son was born in the hospital there. Thank you again...

Ok cool, I thought there was cable TV service at one point on base.
Sammy, thank you for taking the time to do your videos. I was with VC-8 69-71. Is the old Hanger still there?
Not sure since that area is blocked off.
What about the Chapel on the hill.
That is no longer there. 😢

I am sure some residuals may still be around but nothing significant.
