I highly recommend that you get a receipt for every restaurant you visit. For example, KFC charged me 3 different prices for the same meal in a two and a half week span. In my last visit, KFC charged me $.30 extra for the biscuit that was supposed to be included in the combo meal I ordered. I’ve been ripped off at McDonald’s and Wendy’s as well. Even Walmart will charge you for unknown items as a way of stealing from the consumer. We leery of any establishment you shop at.
I worked at one of McD's competitors. We were required to give receipts with each order. If the customer had to ask, we weren't doing our jobs properly. In later years, I was a secret shopper for McDonald's. One of the things I had to note was whether or not I was offered a receipt. If I had to ask for it, they weren't doing their jobs properly. Points were removed for that.
When, they changed the Cod Fish Sandwich to Wild Caught Pollock, I tried and never ate another fish sandwich at McDonald’s ever again, Pollock not the best cut of fish, it tastes just nasty. Please bring back the Cod!
Technically Pollock is a species of Cod. The original Filet O Fish was actually made from Hake. Still a species of Cod but much less obtainable than the rest. Fyi Pollock is delicious! It's just a little flakier.

Everyone should do this, Burger King basically fed me for a couple of years for free because every receipt had a survey for a free Whopper, and they never check the codes you're supposed to write on the receipt. Then when you got your free Whopper you get another receipt and then the cycle just continues! Only once or twice was I refused a receipt because they said you didn't pay anything so there is no receipt but normally they print it off and give it to you out of habit which means another free Whopper.
Tbh BK always tasted better to me. BMs burgers are larger and more flavorful compared to McDonald's burgers. However that was what I could remember in my teen years. Amarillo tx has the cleanest mcdonalds. I use to work there and they made sure we washed our hands after everything we do. They are all under the same owner so any mcdonald in Amarillo is good to go!

The shake machine, especially when managers are not there, employees just say no. At Burger King, one guy would just simply say, we’re not selling shakes right now. Yes, we will be having shakes all night, yet the customers never was able to order.
It is not accurate and irresponsible to say they do not have an opportunity to clean the machines. The machines can be cleaned while serving breakfast because at that time ice cream is not being served anyway so there is a perfect opportunity to clean the machines in every restaurant during the breakfast shift

Unfortunately McDonald's was actually one of the last REAL ice cream hold outs (among fast food chains, obviously) using what the FDA still qualified as "real ice cream" in all of its restaurants up until about 2017. Many McDonald's do actually still use real ice cream (whether they do or not depends on factors such as their product distribution deals, whether they're franchisee locations, etc.) in some restaurants though, so just ask when you go to your local Micky D's.

I always do free surveys on receipts to get free food if there's surveys on my receipt.
