Calendula! Yes! I had several going through my mind until you gave the hint that it was used in cosmetics and it was good to heal skin issues. Then I was certain.❤❤. Love these videos. TeresaSue
Good guess Teresa! Thank you for watching. 🙌🙌

Great job Rachel! 🙌🏻🙌🏻

I grow calendula every year but didn't know that it grew everywhere. I never knew about it until I discovered Doc Jones. I am a student of the Botanical school but have not continued in a couple of years. Been caring for a sick husband. He's getting better so we should jump back in and see what's happening with the school. Thanks Jenni for these little videos. I love them.
Melody
Hi Melody. I'm glad he's getting better! ❤❤ We have a 71-page calendula monograph in the school! That would be a fun project for you as you are getting back into herbal medicine!

Oh yes!! It has to be Calendula! I'm half way through the video and I'm sure it is Calendula. I love this plant and have oil and tincture of the petals on hand right now!
Hi Danette! Yep! You got it. :) Which oil did you use for your infusion? I'm going to make some calendula oil. I usually use olive oil, but I think I'm going to try sweet almond this time.
Jenni-Leigh Rose - HomeGrown Herbalist School of Botanical Medicine
@@JenniRoseHGH I used what I had on hand and what was economical for me, olive oil. Sweet almond oil does sound lovely, for an herbal skin remedy though!
I guessed it ! The only thing that cured my gut issues !!!
How did you use it? Several in my family have gut issues.
Good job! Thank you for watching. 😊
Jenni-Leigh Rose - Homegrown Herbalist School of Botanical Medicine
This was my first herb to make salves and oils!
It's definitely a gateway herb! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Jenni-Leigh Rose - HomeGrown Herbalist School of Botanical Medicine
Calendula was my guess🎉😂❤ fun! So much new info!
Good guess Lori! Yes, calendula does everything! So handy.
Jenni-Leigh Rose - HomeGrown Herbalist School of Botanical Medicine
Calendula!!! One of my favorites for sure!!!
Mine too! I love calendula. Thanks for listening Amy.
Jenni-Leigh Rose - HomeGrown Herbalist School of Botanical Medicine
Totally thought dandelion
I was thinking dandelion also, but I was thinking of calendula too, but not as much.
I think that's where everyone's mind immediately goes when I say it grows everywhere. 😂 My yard is more dandelion than grass at the moment.
Jenni-Leigh Rose - Homegrown Herbalist School of Botanical Medicine
@@JenniRoseHGHunfortunately it only grows annually here in Alaska
@@JenniRoseHGH It grows everywhere, but here in SE Arizona. I tried planting seeds and they didn't come up either.
My thoughts were on dandelion as I was sitting on the porch while watching this and those things are everywhere! 😂
I've never seen calendula growing in the "wild" so struggled with this one. It didn't sound like dandelion, but that's the only thing that grows prolifically around here!
If you plant one little calendula on your property it will take over! :) It's a busy-body! 🤣🤣 Good thing it's so pretty.
Jenni-Leigh Rose - HomeGrown Herbalist School of Botanical Medicine
@@JenniRoseHGH I did grow some in a raised bed once.. guess I need to set them free!
Absolutely! Calendula! Nice to know all this information about this awesome, useful, beautiful, flower/herb! (got it just before the reveal). I am still saving up to be able to join the school... hopefully by the falll❤
Good job! You got it! Calendula is one of my favorites. :) What kind of daylily is that in your profile picture? So pretty! I just got 20+ free daylilies from Facebook market place today! Gotta get them planted! I'm so excited. Apparently, they are edible and have some medicinal properties. I haven't really looked into that yet. On my to-do list!
Jenni-Leigh Rose - HomeGrown Herbalist School of Botanical Medicine
@@JenniRoseHGHSorry I don't know the name😢 Bought an unmarked start at a yard sale. Great find on the free daylilies! Praying they will do well in your garden area. I am also researching information about the uses of daylilies! Maybe they will work their way into the HGHSBM... LOL! 😏 Blessings on your day Kiddo! 🌻🐛Carolyn in Ohio 🌿
I'm gping with marigold ,fingers crossed.
Close cousin! They are both in the daisy family. :)

Garlic
I had several guesses and each would change as the clues progressed. You really did throw curveballs !!
I didn’t choose Calendula because it doesn’t grow in the wild in my area, is not prolific and I even have trouble growing it here in South Carolina. The few that grew from seed didn’t even reseed when I left them dry on the stalk.
But thank you for sharing such interesting information !
Same! I guess SC doesn't like calendula!
You are welcome! That is strange, I wonder why calendula doesn't self-seed in your area.
Jenni-Leigh Rose - HomeGrown Herbalist School of Botanical Medicine
Too hot in the summer? Soil is also naturally rather acidic too. 🤷♀️
Getting some starts this weekend !! Thanks for sharing 👍
You're welcome! Thanks for listening! I'm planting my calendula this week too. Hopefully the last frost is over!
Jenni-Leigh Rose - HomeGrown Herbalist School of Botanical Medicine
Just started learning. Now I know what to plant next😂
Yay! You MUST plant some calendula. It will be your absolute favorite garden friend!
Jenni-Leigh Rose - HomeGrown Herbalist School of Botanical Medicine
Calendula which is a variation of the Marigold.
You got it! Good job!
Jenni-Leigh Rose - HomeGrown Herbalist School of Botanical Medicine
I love these videos!.. I did not know calendula was used for dies. I am growing some for the first time right now
Thank you! I'm glad you like the videos. :) I'd say good luck growing your calendula...but you won't need it. Good luck keeping your calendula in its bed or garden box! 🤣🤣😂😂
Jenni-Leigh Rose - HomeGrown Herbalist School of Botanical Medicine
"Mary's Gold" makes me think Calendula. Yippee! What did I win? Ha! By the way I have a REALLY hard time growing this herb.
Congratulations! You win a free cat. Just let me know where you would like me to send her! She is REALLY lovely.
LOVE LOVE LOVE CALENDULA!
Me too! It's the best! ❤❤

So, for lymphatic help from calendula, is that internal only, or would you make like a poultice or salve to rub over the swollen lymph nodes? Thanks.
I would use it internally as a tea or tincture, but you could do both! Topical couldn't hurt. Cleavers is also fantastic for swollen lymph nodes.
Jenni-Leigh Rose - HomeGrown Herbalist School of Botanical Medicine
The hint that it is used in cosmetics finally clicked for me
I figured I should put that clue towards the end, because it would give it away for a lot of people. 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Peppermint
Peppermint shares some medicinal properties with calendula. I can see why that was your guess! Thanks for listening.
Jenni-Leigh Rose - HomeGrown Herbalist School of Botanical Medicine
Marigold
Hi Julie. Close guess...marigold and calendula are both in the daisy family and they definitely look like cousins!
Jenni-Leigh Rose - HomeGrown Herbalist School of Botanical Medicine
Wow! I had no idea. Good to know!
Hi Angela! Thanks for listening. :)
Jenni-Leigh Rose - HomeGrown Herbalist School of Botanical Medicine
My first thought was Dandelion but as you gave more clues I thought of beautiful Calendula. I'm enjoying your families school very much. Thanks for all you folks do for herbalism.
I lost that one 🤣
No worries! You will get it next time. We actually have a couple more episodes if you want to try your luck again! :)
Jenni-Leigh Rose - HomeGrown Herbalist School of Botanical Medicine
First thot dandelion. Then plantain because of the ulcer and digestive healing properties. Then u said flower lol
I thought dandelion then plantain too 🐝 because both are in my yard and lastly marigold because of the "Mary's Gold" hint! But, alas no marigold in the wild here in Oklahoma 🦋🍃✌️
🤣🤣🤣Lots of curveballs today!
@@JulieHerbal I don't have any here in my part of wv either.. wish I did
Me too!
Marys gold was a good clue! Originally I thought dandelion because of the first clue; growing on your property probably 🌻✌️🤗🌈🍃🐝🧚♂️🌼🦋🌿
Yes...I looked outside at my backyard as I was writing this episode and wondered if that was going to be a confusing clue. Dandelion is the very MOST enthusiastic herbal volunteer. :) But calendula isn't far behind!
Jenni-Leigh Rose - HomeGrown Herbalist School of Botanical Medicine
Dandelion
As you gave clues my mind was churning. First thought was oregano, then yarrow, then Holy Basil, but you have it away with the sun reference and I settled on calendula.
Never had one as a volunteer, probably because I harvest flower heads often. I plant it, along with marigold between plants in the garden for pest control.
I also infused it in oil for my skin salves.
I also make it into a tea as the base for my castile foaming soap and body wash.
Wow! What a fun video! Great job!
Thank you so much for listening!

0 out of 3 for me
No worries Karen! You will get it next time! Thanks for listening. :)

Such a fun, and educational video, thank you. I wrote on my list " herb - Calendula". I need this in my herb garden.
Thank you! You DO need it in your garden! You will love it. ❤
Calendula officinalis
First one to get the full Latin name! You get bonus points. Good job. :)
Jenni-Leigh Rose - HomeGrown Herbalist School of Botanical Medicine
I was thinking dandelion, but the clues didn't really line up. "Mary's gold", "used in cosmetics", Mexican folklore are the clues that put me in the right direction. One of my very favorite herbs!
I love this series!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you! I'm so glad you are liking it. ❤❤
I believe the answer is Pot Marigold/Calendula. Clue #4 "Mary's gold" was my AhHa moment. Tyvm
I enjoy the challenge!
I thought it. tumeric final was peppermint until the food was mentioned
Good job Holli. 😊 Do you cook with calendula? I need some good recipes!

I love using calendula! I just started growing my own.
You will love growing it. I'm excited for you! It's so gorgeous and there is just nothing in the world like fresh calendula. ❤❤
Well, I guess Dandelion was wrong ~ but it seemed close to the description ~ because I have them popping up all over my yard I don’t have the other one popping up anywhere on my property.
Pot marigold
Yes! Pot marigold is a common name for calendula. Good job!
Jenni-Leigh Rose - HomeGrown Herbalist School of Botanical Medicine
How fun. I just made calendula lip balm yesterday. Still have enough calendula oil to make a balm and then some lotion bars❤
I finally did it and just joined your school🎉 looking forward to this new journey😊
❤
oregano
Wonderful dandelions!
Got the calendula about the last two clues but didn’t get it typed in before you actually answered it! 😊
Yay! Good job Connie! 🙌🙌
Jenni-Leigh Rose - HomeGrown Herbalist School of Botanical Medicine
I know that because your dad told me
Dandelion? The "growing voluntarily" made me think of that, but the longer you go, the less confident I became. Could it Plantain??
Bee balm
Bee balm does share some medicinal properties with calendula. That guess makes sense. 👍🏻👍🏻
Marigold? 🏵
A cute cousin of calendula! They are both in the daisy family and they definitely look alike.

Hi there, I'm looking for a homeopathic remedy for asthma/bronchitis.. I use Symbicort but I'm trying to kick it naturally.. if you have ANY suggestions I'll try it
thank you so much for helping folks on here .. Seems clearer that so many are trying harder to mend our ways by eating healthier & try a more holistic approach to healthcare & folks like you are playing a HUGE part in guiding us in the right direction 💝 Blessings to you!
burdock
Thank you for these fun videos! Where to recommend purchasing seeds? Thanks so much😊
ROFL... That was my guess
Purple dead nettle?
I was thinking about putting some in my garden! Do you grow it?
Jenni-Leigh Rose - Homegrown Herbalist School of Botanical Medicine
Best game ever!

Oh wow...Calendula - only because I saw the other comments..haha Sun flower??? I'm soooo out of my league.
Great video!
Wonderful information.
Is calendula!!!

Oh, no worries! You will get it next time.

What do you think of LANTANA. I would like your opinion of it
Dandelion?
I know this is not game related sorry. Is there any herbs that can help with Minere's disease? I have a close friend who has developed it. He is a musician and has had to give up playing because of fluid in his ear that won't allow him to hear. He's miserable and has been to many doctors with no help.
calendula
What can a person do for hyperthyroidism?
I have a friend who has to make rash decisions right now. Can she do something herbal?
Watch her iodine intake. Too much can cause that.
is it me or was the video very dark??
Thanks for the feedback. I will let our IT team know.

Calendula
Yes! I started second guessing myself when you started talking about dyes.
I am just starting to get into herbs so I have very few on my shelf. But..
I valet for my evening job. About a week ago, I stepped in a puddle. By the time I got home and and peeled off my wet dhoe, I had blisters on the bottom of all the toes on my left foot.
I hobbled through the next day at my day job then went straight to the health food store for some calendula cream. Went home, slathered and bandaged my toes and rushed off to valet a huge event.
I claimed check in position so I wouldn't have to run. But it wasn't a choice. It was so busy, I ended up running anyway. However, after the first half hour, my toes were no longer hurting and by the next morning, they were almost completely healed.
Good job! You got it!
