    There's a parasitic fungus growing on your birch trees...and you should be really excited! I'm talking about Chaga, a black, woody lump that really can change your life.
    In the world of herbal remedies, few species can claim the same level of medicinal diversity and utility as the Chaga mushroom, scientifically known as Inonotus obliquus. Nestled in the Hymenochaetaceae family, Chaga goes by many monikers, including clinker polypore, cinder conk, black mass, birch mushroom, and true tinder fungus ( Not to be confused with all those PRETEND tinder fungi!). This enigmatic mushroom, with its myriad health benefits, is taking the wellness world by storm.

    We use chaga a lot as it grows prolifically in our area here in Alaska. I typically take it as a tincture but do also make tea out of it. I haven’t tried adding ground chaga to my smoothie yet but I’m going to try that soon. My friends an family use my chaga tincture for immune support and to assist in reducing inflammation. They swear by it! Thank you!

    Thank you for sharing about chaga! We harvest and use it here in WV. In our home, we keep a crock pot of chaga "tea" (I think it drinks more like coffee--yum!) going all winter long. We dry the chaga and carefully chip it into pieces of about 1-2" and use a few of those in a 6-7 quart crock pot of water.....kept on low or warm setting. We have been drinking it for several years and enjoy it.

    • @zitiboylilo5789

      Wait, so you keep it cooking all winter? Or do you strain it and bottle it up? I’m confused 😂

      @@zitiboylilo5789 We put a few small chunks in a large crock pot of water on warm. When the water level gets low, we add more water and keep going--adding new pieces when the brew becomes weak. Occasionally I clean the pot and start over completely. I am home all day so I am ok with keeping the crock pot on--but you could always refrigerate the tea and re-warm.

      I wonder if you could share how much chiagga…in 1-2” pieces…that you put in your 6-7 quart crockpot? My crockpot is 10 quarts! Also, if able to chip the bits smaller, the smaller the bits the more surface area that is exposed so the more benefits will be infused. Your method reads similar to how we drank sassafrass tea!

    • @rough-hewnhomestead5737
      @rough-hewnhomestead5737 3 місяці тому +2

      @@elleartisa5990 For 1-2" pieces, maybe 4 pieces for a 6-7 qt. crock pot, maybe 2-3 more pieces for a 10 qt pot. Yes, you could definitely use smaller chunks/bits as you mentioned....probably adjust to equal for the 1-2" pieces. Best wishes!

    🙄You're my new spirit guide😂 I binge watch obsessively! You've put the stamp of approval on all of my research. You and Plantain were my portals to this magical dream that my soul was searching for. I'm now overwhelmed with possibilities. The weeds I wanted gone for decades are now the backbone of my 5th yr food forest, farm therapy, healing oasis. I harvested so much this yr I have to dedicate a room for my apothecary...and as soon as the sun comes up I'll be skipping through the snow, to the middle of my garden to get some chaga from my 1 weeping birch. I thought for sure this is one I wouldn't have but mornings are research and the teacher showed up🥰 I feel like a witch in the Canadian woods😄 My kinda crazy has been healing myself and others. I need a reason to get a cauldron 🤭😏it could be huge if I use it for outside, maple syrup processing(1st yr/'23) I can't thank you enough! I'm ridiculously giddy and in awe of nature everyday❤

    I love powdered chaga in my coffee. It adds a depth of coffee flavor without the acidity. When I want a break from coffee/caffeine, I add it to my decaffeinated coffee. I love it both ways. I alone consume about 6oz per year in my coffee. I feel it helps keep me healthier and less "cold/seasonal allergy" type of symptoms. I live in Central TX and it's been a huge help. Seasonal Allergies are a daily occurrence here.

    I've been foraging chaga , reishi , and artist conks for years and use them all. I make and sell tinctures of all of these also. I've probably shipped medicinal mushroom to every state including Hawaii. Made a lot of friends and hopefully helped some people. I've had big players try to recruit me to supply their chaga factories but always turned them down. Right now I do it to suppliment my income and supply myself with fresh safe mushrooms. Teaching myself to grow the ones I can't find in the woods also.

I think it's important to take about dual extraction as water and alcohol extractions for both buying and making tincturesm They each pull different things and have different health benefits. When buying a tincture, I would only buy one that us dually extracted :). David Wolfe did a great video on the differences many years ago..I don't know if it is still around.

    Thank you so much for the warning Dr. Jones! I think the Lord perhaps intended for me to see this video in order to warn me. I have a dog now who sees an holistic vet 'long distance' for liver/kidney disease. We just started seeing this holistic vet this year. In between visits we see a 'traditional mainstream' vet near where we live. I will have to think twice if there is an emergency where a immediate surgery is needed and we might have to bring him to mainstream vet, I'll think twice because my girl is on a whole bunch of herbal remedies from holistic vet!! I also wonder how you as a holistic vet would have treated my other dearly departed dog who is in heaven now..... He had terminal Immune Mediated disease, Or Mediated Immune disease. The vet mainstream specialist vet immediately told me he has never seen any dog recover from that disease.....and my boy didn't 😭. According to testing it was probably 'not' tick born illness. I often wonder if we had know a holistic vet to bring him to at that time, if my boy might have had a chance of surviving?....
