I love your parents! They crack me up! This does sound wonderful and I've already ordered the special ingredients on line. I would love to see a segment on the spices you used from the round container. I know it's common for Indian households to have such a grouping of spices, but I would like to know why these spices are put into such a container. I assume they are the spices most Indian cooks use? Another great vid!
Please can you do a video on how to use the extra indian spices that you've used in this dish (amchur, asafoetida and dried fenugreek)with other curry dishes? Such as how much to use and when you would use them. I often use the same spices, cumin, coriander and turmeric, and want to level up! For now, I will make this dish and experiment. Thanks for a great video, and your parents are just the best!
Made this tonight and am madly in love. Even better? My tween scarfed up a large bowl (paired with RPL vegan naan, of course) and said “Nisha nailed it again!” That’s the highest of high praise!
Your recipe videos are my Saturday morning ritual. The ones with your parents are my favorites!!!❤❤❤ I was planning to make alu gobhi so I'm so glad the recipe is out!! Your parents are so funny and hilarious 😂😂😂 absolutely love these taste tests. Namaste aunty uncle and lots of love 🥰🥰🥰
I just love these videos with your parents...we get to see where you get your charm and talent from...it is so nice to see...thanks for sharing and for the great recipe!!
Something I stumble over regularly with recipes from the US - your medium-size onion (or medium-size cauliflower, potatoes ... etc) are huge compared to those I get in out local super-markets und even bigger that what I get at our farmers-markets.
Asafoetida in Indian cooking is used in place of onions and garlic as many religious groups in India (such as Jains, Vaishnavs, etc.) do not eat onions and garlic. Use of asafoetida is more common in Gujarati cooking as most Gujarati style curries don’t use onions and garlic. Asafoetida has a concentrated onion/garlic flavor. It has shown to reduce flatulence, it is used for asthma relief, it reduces blood pressure by thinning blood, helps treat IBS and might be useful in blood sugar control (as per animal studies). It is FODMAP-diet friendly. It is used to help treat bronchitis, whooping cough, constipation, and muscle spasms. It helps with nervous conditions and is calming (sedative). Human studies show that 250 mg twice a day is safe. Animal studies suggest that large doses can cause diarrhea, gas, headache, mouth swelling and anxiety.
I am not at all surprised that your parents loved yours. It looks amazing. I can see myself making this one! Thanks again, Nisha, for a lovely recipe that gets the tastebuds going - and your parents are just fabulous. I also love how proud of you they are.
I just finished eating this delicious dish for lunch. Only made a couple modifications from your recipe. I chopped up a whole jalapeño pepper and added it to step 2 in "making the masala." I didn't have fenugreek leaves, so just used garam masala and lime juice. It was necessary to add a table of water here and there to keep things from sticking or getting too dry. I'll definitely make this dish again. Thanks!
I literally love your parents… they are so unnecessarily funny without trying 😂 Such a cute family full of love! This recipe looks amazing!!! Definitely going to be making this in the coming week! Thank you Nisha!
I used to boil the vegetables first. I made this today - baked cauliflowers and potatoes made a huge difference: the texture is crunchy, and the flavors of the vegetables are a lot more pronounced. Thanks for sharing the recipe. Love it!
It's wonderful now that you live close enough to your parents to have them taste test your culinary creations. Their approval is priceless to your endeavors.
I absolutely love your parents, they are so nice and funny. I'll try this recipe soon for sure. Don't have half of the ingredients here, but will do my best I love potatoes and cauliflower!
I so so appreciate your work, gentle , spirt, and respectfulness to your ever dear parents! Nisha, could yo make a video explaining your journey and how you got started in in your cooking skills. Please once again mention your mentors!!
It's so wonderful to see how proud your parents are of you! Cant wait to try this recipe and I love how it not only tastes better but is a more efficient way of using your time!
Okay so today I learned that you're not really from India if you don't like spicy food 🌶😆Your Dad always makes me laugh 👍I need to get my hands on some funky Asafoetida!
Made this today and is DEEEElicious! Roasting the potatoes and cauliflower are game changers! I also roasted ground cumin cuz I didn't have the seeds. And it's still amazing!! 😋
This was absolutely delightful! I enjoyed your preparation of Aloo Gobi and now I must try to replicate what you have created. Your parents are honest and funny. It makes me wish that I could have a meal with your family! Cook on! Blessings always!
Your parents are so cute! I am curious why you prefer to use serrano peppers vs Thai chilies? You’re the first person I’ve seen who uses Serrano lol. It’s also neat you add it later. I am used to doing oil, then cumin, then hari mirch, then onions for any masala, then tomatoes etc. Anyway I am not a huge aloo gobi girl myself but I’ll definitely check this out. Edit also i want to say that I am impressed by the thought and effort you put into your recipes. You really try to find the best recipe and it shows!
This was absolutely delicious! I made it for some friends this weekend and they LOVED it. Thank you so much for all your fabulous content and for your enthusiasm. 🙏
I think you really are my favorite vegan cooking channel now! Great recipes, great production, great energy and i love your parents and your energy together as well - thank you! ❤
This was delightful. Watching you cook was informative, because my taste and smell don't work, so seeing your timing on it all was great. Loved the idea to bake the veggies first. And so glad your folks appreciate you and your offerings!
I made this last night and it is so delicious! I didn't have the 3 ingredients marked as optional and I didn't make it spicy either, and it still turned out soo good!
Your videos are so therapeutic to watch but also a treasure trove of recipe ideas I can stash in my head for later when I don't know what to make for dinner haha. Thank you :)
Oh my YUM! Veggies just the way I like to cook them, too, and all that flavor! I've never liked Aloo Gobi at restaurants for the same reasons you stated. This fixes everything. Totally getting a Serrano at the store and making this ASAP! (Also? Your parents are precious! 🥰)
I just made this recipe tonight. Went to an Indian grocery store for some ingredients…..Wow! Wow! So delicious and very fun to try something new! Thank you so much for my first introduction to cooking Indian food! It won’t be my last! Delicious!! 10/10
Thanks for this. I just made a double batch to freeze and it was great. Good recipe all the spice proportions are right on point. Wish i had the dried mango and the fenugreek leaves but i just squeezed in a half a lime. I dont think i can have assofacheetah in my house or freezer anymore. I've been cooking out of Julie Sahni "Classic Indian Cooking" for 20 plus years and its nice to branch out to other recipes.
Your parents are precious. I love it when they show up in your videos! I always get aloo gobi or mushroom saag at Ambar India when I visit my daughter in Champaign, IL, with roti because it's vegan (like me!). They have delicious food, and I never get quite the same spice profile when I make it at home.
That looks incredible; love the roasted potatoes and cauliflower. I will do as your father recommends and spice it up a little. You go from strength to strength and I love your taste testers. 🙂
OMG!!!! I made it tonight! I could hardly finish eating it so that I could let you know how absolutely delicious it was. So filling too! Thank you Nisha.
I always thought asafoetida/hing smells amazing and never overpowering. I have this habit to grill mushrooms a lot, but not before I marinate them with a little bit of oil, salt, white pepper and of course asofoetida. Good amount of it. We all enjoy the results.
so excited for your aloo gobi, as it happens to be my friends favorite dish, aaaannnd I just bought home some potatoes from the farmers market! I get excited whenever you post a recipe video, and especially so when it features your parents. they are amazing ❤❤❤
"Anyone can cook Aloo Gobi but not everyone can bend a ball like Beckham" I'm a Brit and the film 'Bending it like Beckham' is something as an American you probably haven't seen but the above is a famous quote. I am going to change it and say Not everyone can bend a ball like Beckham but even fewer can make Aloo Gobi like Nisha|| Best Aloo Gobi ever and I don't like it too spicy
just made it for dinner and it was perfect. i used amchoor powder so i did not add lime juice and it was the right citrus level for me. it is now my favorite vegan dish!
Come for the aloo gobi, stay for my dad’s hot takes 🥵
Your dad… 😂
Your mom is adorable!
Looking forward to giving this one a try; however, I’ll have to hunt down the unique spices.
Bringing your parents in is the absolute best part 😇
Where is recipe? Not finding, and I need to get the spices! And what about your Dad’s Chili oil?
@@ednafortner6444It's literally the first thing you'll find in the description.
I've said it once and I will say it again your parents are hilarious!
You share an Indian recipe AND your parents make an appearance? Just made my day 🥳
Your parents are always a delight to see!
Right! Both are so charming...you can tell they have been married a long time!
Your mom is hilarious! Incredible Hunk 😂 This dish looks 🔥 i can't wait to try it! Please keep the Indian recipes coming!
I love your parents' honest opinions and expressions! Reminds me of my (Indian) parents and what they'd say about my cooking 😅
Lol!
I agree totally that roasting the potatoes and cauliflower and separate from the sauce gives way better results. Love seeing your parents too!
I love your parents! They crack me up! This does sound wonderful and I've already ordered the special ingredients on line. your parents are absolutely hilarious. love their banter. aloo gobi looks delicious but it seems like nothing can be spicy enough for your father haha
I love your mom's sass! "we are taste testing, not eating lunch!" Hilarious.
Aww I love when your parents make an appearance ☺️ 😅much health and wellness to them 💜🌻
Recipe looks amazing! 👍🏻
Your parents are too cute! Love them - almost as much as I love your recipes. WHEN are you going to have a cookbook? When!?!
Check out her website; she already has one 😉
I just made this, and it is fantastic!!!! I have always wanted to try it, but I don't enjoy restaurants. This was such a a great find!
Like the 'outside the box' roasting of the potatoes and cauliflower. Great tips and inspiration, thanks!
Your parents are so funny and adorable, and the dish looks amazing! Thank you Nisha for helping us cook more plant based food!
The dish looks amazing - your parents are delightful!
Something I stumble over regularly with recipes from the US - your medium-size onion (or medium-size cauliflower, potatoes ... etc) are huge compared to those I get in out local super-markets und even bigger that what I get at our farmers-markets.
I thought the same 😂- the onion was ENORMOUS!
I always get so excited when your parents make a guest appearance on your channel! They are sooo adorable 💓
Your parents clearly gave you your sense of humor! They’re wonderful.
Your parents are endearing! I love this episode.
So cute, love your parents! Like the cutting the chilli trick for less spice - this baby mouth will be trying that in other recipes haha
Oh, I love when your parents are in video, the best taste testers!

Such a cozy episode! Love your parents and I will definitely try the recipe
I love the episodes with your parents ❤
OMG. I followed exactly how you did. It’s better than from restaurants. Baking the veggies resolved the mushy issues. Thank you. ❤
Great recipe. I absolutely love when you include your parents as taste testers. They always add so much to the video. They must always be included!
Your tip to prep the cauliflower and potatoes is golden! Thanks!
Aloo gobi is one of my favourite Indian dishes! I’ll definitely have to try your recipe! Parents are hilarious, like herding cats (I love cats). 😆
I am not at all surprised that your parents loved yours. It looks amazing. I can see myself making this one! Thanks again, Nisha, for a lovely recipe that gets the tastebuds going - and your parents are just fabulous. I also love how proud of you they are.

At one point in my life I wasn’t eating many white potatoes, so subbed chickpeas for them in aloo gobi. Different, but still delicious.
Oh my YUM! Veggies just the way I like to cook them, too, and all that flavor! I've never liked Aloo Gobi at restaurants for the same reasons you stated. This fixes everything.

Looks wonderful and I can’t wait to try it! Hello wonderful parents!
I have been looking for a recipe that uses cauliflower. You just made my day. I’ll be stopping by my Indian market tomorrow!
