- Опубліковано 13 лип 2024
- Today, we are going to review the Wyze Cam OG and the OG 3X Telephoto WIFI security cameras. One cool thing about these 2 cameras is that you can stack them with the OG stack kit and you will get a wide FOV from the OG and the zoomed in view of the OG 3X. It also has a PIP feature on the app which you can stream the 2 camera views in 1 window. We will check out its features, do a quick unboxing, set it up, install and check out its video and audio quality and run it through our camera tests and see if this Wyze Cam OG and Wyze Cam OG 3X Telephoto can be good options for your home.

I hate that these are two separate cameras. If I was to install these with the stack kit my neighbors would think I'm suspicious. I would have rather had one camera that was slightly larger with both lenses built in.
Lol I thought the same thing too when I saw that. Makes me think of that meme with the multi cameras.
The only thing with one camera with 2 lenses...is that it is not adjustable or I guess they can design it that at least the zoom lens can be adjusted on where it will point.
@@LifeHackster That is true. but perhaps one of the lenses could have a "push/tilt" adjustment similar to the bottom facing camera on the Eufy dual cam door bell. Of course the amount of adjustment is not much, but you probably don't need much anyways as most of the time the part you want a closet up is already going to be within the frame of the wide angle camera.
Yeah…if I'm being honest I'm not buying this product purely based on its appearance.
I'm a beta tester just for that . Wyze will release this version in 8 weeks
Hands down the best, real world application review of any camera. Thank you.
@mrcam24, Thank you. I appreciate it
Hands down the best security camera reviews on UA-cam. Awesome dedication. Thank you for your hard work.
Greetings from Torrance! A lot can be said about these cameras. Price, performance, resolution, but what impressed me was the 3X telephoto. Wow! The distance from my camera to the street is about 50ft. License plates are almost impossible to see unless a car is parked. To be able to reach out that far with clarity is a real game changer for me. Please do more telephoto type cameras if possible. This video has really opened my eyes! Thanks again!
@paulmiyagishima7655...Thanks for watching!
With the exception of the sound quality, Wyze continues their trend of giving us an excellent product for the price. I have 2 V3s with the spotlight added, but I much prefer the integrated spotlight, especially for that introduction price. However, since I have 2 V3s and 5 cam pans (original), I think I would only get the telephoto cameras. Thanks for the excellent review as usual!
@billr8564...Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video. I always enjoy your content
Yes !!! Been waiting for this !!!!
I love the Running Man Test !!! 😂
@willowmoonwolf5987...Thanks for watching!
thanks for the review I will definitely be getting the telephoto 3x. I use my Wyze cam for a recording of my street parking and this helped a lot
Great demonstration! Subscribed!
Thank you.
Thanks for putting the effort in this video especially the part where you show us how it looks based on distance
Glad it was helpful!
I knew you would have a review ready ! Thank you 😊
@user-oc2kd2si3n...Thanks for watching!
I’m watching Wyze livestream right now!
Great timing lol
@Born2BeWild...Thanks for watching!
Third to comment! Your reviews are always great! Thank you for taking the time!
@andremachadomonte...Thanks for watching!
That 3x looks neat 👍👍
Favorite feature, Acceptable Audio quality!
great video, thank you
Thank you
Thanks for the upload - I actually came here before going to Wyze because I love the way you put the cameras through real testing. 👍🏿
I’m glad I waited on getting the pan camera, I’ll probably hold off on getting any new cameras until it gets warmer.
Peace2U
@rlbk525...Thanks for watching!
Excellent
Thank you.
Impressive!
Thx for the review...I'm sold on Wyze...7 units on Cam Plus...can't beat the price point.
@skyepilotte11...Thanks for watching!
Now if Wyze Cam Comes out with a Camera Similar to Reolink Duo2 I would buy it in a heartbeat
Nice review, I have to try these ones out. The Wyze Cam v3 Pro I bought is a disappointment, there's nothing Pro about it. The power cable and internet connectivity on it is a disaster. It will not connect to the internet in a position where Wyze Cam v3 is doing fine.
They have some pretty weird compression artifacts going on when in low light with night vision on. It's nothing a couple of well-placed infrared illuminators or flood lights won't fix, though. The telephoto is a very welcome addition to any surveillance camera setup, and the audio quality for both the speakers and the microphones are way better than on the older cameras.
Thanks for the video! As soon as the camera was announced, I immediately went to your page.
I would be looking forward to seeing a comparison between this and the V3. Looks like the big differences I see is the way it’s mounted and the built-in spot light.
I'll be comparing it soon. Thanks for watching!
Seems a bit kludgy. I think the new v3 Pro with higher resolution might be a better overall solution with just one camera. What I'm really waiting for is a high res 4K version with better AI detection features. That should be worth $40 or so. Ideally a true PTZ 4K version with variable zoom from about 1x to 6x or even 8x would be great, and would be worth maybe $60 to $80 to me if it worked well.
Agreed. They just split the v3 pro into two cameras at 1080 minus the 12 free clip. You have to use the SD to get person detection you need cam plus.
Unfortunately this camera is not usable with free Cam Plus Lite, which Wyze is now phasing out. The camera is severely gimped without the paid subscription now.
Yup, this is a huge issue, particularly not including person detection. Could get away with it indoors, but most people use cameras outdoors, and without person detection you just get lots of false alerts.
Great video. Is there a way to enable the spotlight to be always on? This is what I’m hoping for and would upgrade for this feature.
Not at this time. It will only activate with motion at night.
Wyze really stepped up their game with the audio quality. Nice to see them improve.
The built in speaker sounds better but the microphone is barely acceptable.
Hey lifehackster great video! Will you be reviewing the TP Link C420S2?
Thanks. I'm not sure on the TP Link..we will see.
Great review, thanks.
.
This is my normal comment whenever I see a Wyze cam ad on Facebook.
Wyze: PLEASE add Fast Forward scan capability when reviewing stored videos. ASAP!
Even at a slow frame rate, it would be MUCH better than the current 30-sec skip ahead option. Many things can be missed in 30 seconds!
I will NOT buy another Wyze cam until they fix this!
.
FYI - Even inexpensive EZviz cams have 2x, 4x, 8x AND 16x fast forward for free!
.
PS - I've got a Wyze Cam Pan v1, and reviewing the video clips is TORTURE. I will NOT buy another Wyze cam until they fix this!
PPS - Has Person detection gotten substantially worse since the first 2 weeks of 2023?
-------
Still waiting for this change in an upcoming update.
Not as a tool to push your additional, fee-based, subscription model.
But to stay competitive by offering it for FREE.
ASAP!
I just bought the pancamp and the OG and I love them both for the money you can't beat it
Man the way you do reviews so awesome and great
Keep it up
And thanks a lot for your efforts
Having a hard time understanding this vs the v3. It appears they are pretty similar aside from the mounting, stacking and motion light. Seems they perform just about as well as the v3 video wise, though the v3 may be better in the dark.
I also was thinking using homebridge to use in HomeKit, but not sure if the OG allows that. I know there was talk the v3 would.
Would you say the OG would be the way to go vs the v3?
Yes, the OG has better pricing and has a spotlight.
Nice video, Lifehackster. I have a question about the OG and other Wyze cams that take an SD card. Does the card eventually fill up with videos, which have to be deleted, or do new videos overwrite the older ones? Thanks.
auto overwrites the oldest
It loop records and overwrites older clips.
Great price point... great for wyze!!!!!!
@infomutt2339...Thanks for watching!
FYI: I bought a wyze cam3 at the beginning of November, it stopped working a week ago, of course I was disappointed, but their customer service really surprised me, it was without a hassle and fast to replace it (it is on its way now).✌️
Did you have to ship back the old one to them?
@@MacrosFTW No. But as far as I know, it's worthless since I don't have knowledge to repair electronics.✌️
@@luyzqint3760 I'm asking cuz I got a cam that was chewed thru by dogs. I wanted to see how easy it would to have them give me a free replacement since I can't just tell em the real reason why my cam is broken.
I'm guessing that power adapter isn't water resistant, as seems to be the case with most "outdoor" Eufy and Wyze cams. Not sure why they do that.
I prefer the wyze cam3 night vision, because I can see a cross the street from my house at night, and with the OG needing to have a sensor light to work better, I can't go across the street and put lights.✌️😜
Thanks so much for the video. By the way, I ordered the 2 camera bundle from Wyze over a week ago and it has yet to ship. Contacted their support and there is no ETA. Not very good customer support here. Making a good camera is one thing, getting it out to the consumer is just as important. IF I get any more cameras from Wyze, I will probably just get them on Amazon. At least they know how to fulfill orders....
Some times the action is not in the center of the screen so if the action is on the sade the zoom camera will not record the event, this zoom camera will be more useful on the pam camera
If your working can you view the video on app via long distances or not? And how about if you get a notification for motion? Is this just a notification or a video
Yes. You get a snapshot in the notification and when you click on it, you will see the footage.
I really enjoyed wyze I was one of the real OGs who got free cloud storage with the original cams. But my needs have grown. I really need more wireless options. in my urban apt outlets and availability of where I need cams are not in sync. Not even close. And unless I want a million wires everywhere hanging from my ceiling which is already impossible considering every outlet basically has extension chords I have run out of options. And their outdoor cam doesn't get good enough reviews to justify buying a few for my apt.
Can you test if one or two can be used with a solar panel?
I got question do I need to buy both of the cams to make it work or can I just buy the OG telephoto 3x and connected to my app?
Does the telephoto camera support continuous recording with an SD card and playback with the CamPlus subscription? Thanks!
I wish they release a new socket lamp that works with the newer cameras including the v3 pro.
I agree. A 2 amp one at least.
Will the 24 hour recording on these devices provide continuous video to review or is it one where the video makes a series of 15 minute clips?
How are you plugging them in for outdoor use? It looks like the power supply is for indoor use?
Great review but meh products. They should have stack them like wyze cam pan v3 and with one power cord. I wait for next revision
How does it do with reading plates at night? My neighborhood has decent amount of night theft (especially during holidays with people stealing Christmas inflatables) but nobody can get their plates since it’s at night but wasn’t sure if the telephoto feature would be able to since it can zoom
Hello, when you have them stacked can you hang them upside down? Like under the eve of your home? Thanks, Bob
Does the picture in picture feature work pairing a V3 and an OG tele
I leave my exterior lights on all night. LEDs take so little power it doesn't matter. The new wyze pan is awesome. I can use it outside. I would rather spend the money on the pan, than the OG. The 2K cameras picture quality is noticably better. I hope more of their cameras step up to 2k. Would be nice if it was possible to stack the zoom on the new pan. Maybe if a 3D adapter is made.
How is the OG 3x picture under 20ft? with the narrower FOV could it also be used in more up close shots without losing focus?
The biggest short fall is probably the lack of support for desktop client software. Picture in picture is great but I immediately noticed that mobile screen is too small for such a feature. It will be a lot more useful on a much larger screen with laptop or desktop computer.
Umm Wyze has a great desktop app.
I'm also wondering this, why in tarnation they don't have a desktop version of their app?
@@alienlatino2945 they do
Great review but I will stick to my V3 cameras, they haven't let me down yet!
@shifterdude647...Thanks for watching!
Great review! Are these cameras wireless?
They are plugged in.
How much does it weight? I wanna glue it on top of an existing camera for a dedicated zoomed in spot but I don't want its weight to cause the cameras angle to move it in the wind
I think stacking 2 OG 3X would give about 60deg field of view. May work the best for my situation where a large PTZ would scare my neighbors and guests.
I need to put one of these outside in a big city where it rains to watch my car. I can wire one but not the other. What do you suggest? I need one that can identify someone 30 to 47 yards away.
Hackster..... can you please do a comparison video about a WYZE PAN/ TILT CAM vs a RELOINK TRACKMIX CAM Please ? TYVM !! U da MAN !!!
They should have incorporated the OG with the Pan 3 one camera would be stationary while the pan would be on the bottom that would far better than the OG+OG. But I'm assuming they need to draw it out in the next upgrade.
Legit thinking about just glueing it onto my V3 cam pan 😂
@@MustachioFurioso9134 I think Wyse could make a cleaner version. Instead of a 3-piece unit making it into 2, the top would be an OG that's stationary while the bottom would be the Pan. 3 piece unit would have stabilization issues due to wind and motor vibration. It's an observation.
With the Wyze cam OG Telephoto is it still pretty clear at night to read license plates at about 50 feet?
Is the OG a better option than the v3 pro? I love wyze products and want the best
For the price... OG
I HAD TO SWITCH FROM V3’s TO LOREX 2K . All BECAUSE WYZE V3 WOULD NOT CONNECT TO LIVE VIEW IT FAIL. EVEN AFTER REBOOTING. MY INTERNET IS FAST SO THAT WASNT THE ISSUE.
I wonder if this new cam works with the Wyze Lamp Socket.
By themselves.. yes but not in dual/stack mode.
Am I missing something or is the stack kit shown not available anywhere?
Where are you in plugging it in at??!! Where's your power outlet?
Do you know if “shared” accounts can see the SD Card timeline with this new system? With my current v3, they can only see cloud recordings and only the main account can see sdcard.
I have to test this.
Good Lord how many different cams are they going to release? As someone new to the Wyze ecosystem and just bought 4 V3s I am almost wondering if they are just trying to make people mad. Depending on when you buy their cameras and what price you pay you could end up getting burned on top of just plain being confused. Don't they still have to release the V3 Pro also?
Yes, they have the V3 PRO too..
Which would you recommend if you’re putting it inside your window but the view is your backyard?
The V3 has a window mount and hopefully, they will release a window mount for the OG soon.
Does it always have to stay plugged in or does it charge
Not too bad at all. Not bad for the price. Excellent review, and thank you.
@YukonHawk1...Thanks for watching!
Can you do some testing with the Zoom at night with the license plate? Assuming you didn't add it because it didn't show the license plates at all.
Watch this -> ua-cam.com/video/ZqnW05lUHzY/v-deo.html
With proper placement and using another light source or IR, the zoom would work until the car moves.
@@LifeHackster I was referring to the new OG Telephoto camera. I know it just came out, but I'm super curious. I saw that other video before which lead me to this video today. Thanks for the uploads and all the hard work!
Please do a zoom in comparison with the og telephoto by itself and the v3 pro
What's to compare? The OG telephoto see's farther, while the V3 Pro doesn't. So I'm not sure what it is you wanted compared.
Watch my upcoming video... and I'll compare it to a 4K camera.
@@LifeHackster thanks
0:55 except everyone outside of US, still to this day we struggle to find any Wyze cams in UK and the ones that are here are more than triple the price.
You can do it as long as you have a friend in the USA willing to provide you a phone number on sign up, I have some set up and working in El salvador for over a year now.
@Martin P Nolasco I had already got the sighn up thing covered was ether going to use VPN or get friend to sort it, the thing is I've only found one seller in UK that sells these cams and he's hiked the price up so high just for the camera itself as he knows people want them here, is why I'm surprised Wyze haven't jumped on it.
There is even a copycat version here called Neos cam, exactly same camera body but terrible UI and quality but they are making thousands out of it as some people here think it's the same company and camera.
This stackble cameras or duel lens is the future of security cameras.. The audio is OK but the OG 3X is where its at.. You want to be able to see a face close up or License plate.. Wyze is you are watching this review and reading comments.. Make a license plate reader camera that can zoom in very quickly on plates for people who do drive by shootings. . I had a shooting last year on my street and the car went by so fast you could barley see what kind of car it was or its plates.. SO My thought's are WyZe is officially Better than RING and Blink !
@Rockaland2...Thanks for watching!
That Nightime quality (If you don't have extra lights in the area) for the OG seems very lackluster.
The one thing I dislike about wyze is the delay in notification and the delay when. Loading the cameras sometimes
So the OG can still zoom in if needed like the regular cameras.
OG Telephoto field of view is fixed or I can even zoom in more?
Yes.. Digital Zoom on both.
@@LifeHackster is it better to get one of each or both Telephoto 🤔
Would it be worth it if I return the 4 Wyze cam v3 I just bought and get 4 ogs?
It is up to you if you want the spotlight of the OG and more affordable. The V3s has a lot of accessories for it out on the market but the OG not yet.
as of 01/29/2023 3:28pm CST and about 2 weeks after launch of Wyze OG the Stack Kit still not available.
@lifehackster Can you stack the Pan Cam V2 with the OC 3X?
You can but you have to stick it to the top of the Pan cam...but there will be no PIP.
Thanks for the video. Lately, the Wyze App has been closing down all by itself. I have to restart it to view my cameras. This goes on throughout the day and night at random times. Any other Wyze owners having this issue?
I haven't had this issue.
@@LifeHackster Thanks for the reply! Love your channel.
Thanks to Lifehackster for another great review. My frustration with Wyze is that connection and video quality tends to be consistently lower quality and less reliable than my Eufy devices. After a recent update, I thought connection speed had improved, but again things have reverted back to cameras randomly appearing to be offline unless I reload the app or camera. Sometimes trying to open up a single camera take multiple attempts. Wi-Fi is robust and fine with all other devices. The app sometimes does not consistently show continuous video from 4 cameras, so Wyze for me has been sort of a redundant/backup camera to have, but not something that I would 100% trust by itself
Wyze is known for updating their firmware all the time to fix things which causes another issue that they need to release another update...and it goes on a cycle... I do however have good luck with my V3 that I set up overlooking through glass in front of my house.
@@LifeHackster it often feels that updates break things more often than they fix something. I have a v3 that is looking through a window without using IR LEDs , as well as some cameras outside, but using them definitely has compromises, and when it's something important like monitoring the kids out front, we usually use the Eufy for better sound and connection stability
Way clearer than the junk Ring makes. If Ring doesn’t up their camera game soon I’m switching to something else.
Can the telescope cam be used with a V3 instead of OG?
Not at this time..I'm not sure if Wyze is going to do it though.
Will it work if I connected to the socket power? Thanks for your videos
Yes.
@@LifeHackster thanks
@LifeHackster if you connect the OG and the telephoto cameras together, is there a way to get an adapter so you can attach both of them to a power socket? Thanks for your help
Please note: The OG Stack Kit does not work with our Outdoor Power Adapters. Does anyone know if there is a work around or a way to get a longer cord since the one included is only 6 feet.
Wyze v3 or Og which is best as baby cam?
Just curious as to what scenario this would be used in. Thanks.
Watch 11:37
@@LifeHackster You are probably correct in that case. Originally I was thinking you could just pinch and zoom to see the same thing, but then realized it would be too pixilated to be of much use. Thanks for the reply.
Why the tele OG cover small area only?
Very impressive I guess you got to buy the cheaper camera to get a better picture and sound
what I would like wyze to do is offer the unlimited cam plus for way cheaper than 99 bucks a year
I ordered the new OG Cam. What if I want to mount it upside down on my garage ceiling ... the spotlight will be on the bottom! I guess I will have to make a custom mounting bracket.
You can and actually you want the spotlight to be lower so that it will not cause a lot of glare compared to when it is on top which it can reflect it from the ceiling. You can turn on 180 degree flip in the settings.
@@LifeHackster -- That's good to know. Thanks. I got my camera from Wyze today. Speedy delivery!
Why didn't Wyze integrate the features of the two cameras into one.
Price point...they want a 20 dollar camera too...
@@LifeHackster Yet when you add in their outrageous shipping fee, it then isn't a $20 camera.
So why keep selling the v3 is it’s the same price as this one ?
Put price aside. I think v3's magnet mount is better.
Supposedly it helped with bringing the cost down of the cameras, not by much but saved 50 cents per camera from a manufacturing standpoint
@@redkulaT A magnet mount costs way less than 50 cents for them to produce. But then charging $10 plus their high shipping cost, is ridiculous.
