Perfect example of the right fishing reel too! Hook up, reel in. High speed reel like this does not give the fish a chance to swim away because he's being skimmed over the water. Perfect setup
I'm glad Seth mentioned the frog hookset. I've noticed that unless they completely inhale it, they spit it as fast as they grabbed it. I hit em as soon as the frog goes under.

After I mastered the post blow up pause to feel the basd and set the hook frog fishing the 2nd most important thing I did that maximized my hookup ratio frog fishing was go to a smaller very soft frog. 98% of the lakes I bass fish 99% of the bass you will catch regardless of presentation is 2-4lbs with most in the 2-3.5lb class. Using a smaller fog immediately and significantly increased my hookup success
I have Suffix 832 Advanced Superline 30lb (300 yards) on my PENN Fierce III 5000 on my 7 foot (2 piece) Berkley Fusion Rod. Interesting how my buddy snapped a Tatula spinning rod when he snagged on a huge weed like a carpet… wouldn’t happen on a 7 foot Ugly Stik GX2 though.
We've had excellent performance from our entire Daiwa lineup. Still, all sensitive graphite rods are susceptible to breakage depending on several factors, such as a small fracture in the blank from mishandling.
Awesome video presentation mate...I am here in Australia and see how I can copy your swimming technique just because your video features close ups on how you use your reel and rod action...Down here in Australia I will be using 10lb braid with a monofilament leader...Thanks for sharing your information mate...
So for small frogs in structure like your fishing and around docks, do you use straight 30lb braid and for your heavier cover you use those standerd to large frogs with straight 50lb braid?
Would rather lose a small one from a hard hookset and heavy line than not be able to winch a big one in that is tangled in weeds. Not my biggest fish but had a 4lber on a frog early this year that I brought in with another 4lbs of veggies. If my drag wasn't locked it would have def been slipping the whole time. Casting isn't terrible either. With no wind I can cast all the way to my backing. Plenty far. I do have a bluegill colored frog I haven't used yet. Going to give it a go this weekend.
Why do so many people reel so fast that the fish skips on the water? Seems the fish can't fight back. Just curious. It was a great presentation. Thanks for sharing the info and posting.
Hey Peter, when you're pulling fish from heavy cover, getting them up on the surface is the best case scenario for landing the fish. If you give them a chance to dive back into the thick weeds like Seth was fishing, you risk losing the fish. Once you get them skipping, they're yours. Thanks for the comment and for tuning in!
I want to go by my curado DC and they only had one in that was the one on the display Shelf and it was left handed what's 6.21 gear ratio and was wondering if I did wrong but I find kind of worried because it wasn't a sealed box
If you are using a rod that’s a heavy rod and you’re frog fishing, I wouldn’t recommend braid under 50 pounds. I tried 30 pound when I first started fishing frogs, and you just don’t get the strength as you get w 50 pound +. I broke off a lot of fish too.
This is definitely more of a frog thing or heavy cover thing. If the bass is on the surface it means he’s not digging down in the weeds or wood getting hung up and unhooked.

100% on two things…smaller frogs and bluegill pattern. The small terminators and the junior pad crasher bluegill colors are absolutely dynamite. About 80% of my frog fishing each year will consist of just those two baits. They’ll catch the frog monsters you’re chasing but they’ll also catch the 2lbers that might be a little gunshy about hitting a bigger frog. Frog is kind of a misleading term for what these baits imitate…to me, it’s always been bluegill struggling on the surface and small rodents as well as frogs
Yeah, as Seth mentioned though, is it a 6-pounder or a 2-pounder. Sometimes tough to determine on the take. But it is funny seeing a minnow bass being launched from the water like a missile 🤣.
To keep them from sinking into cover and making it even harder to get them out of it n back to ya. I’ve pulled up pounds of brush basically suffocating the fish inside the huge clump it sucks haha

Player yeah he didn’t mention anything about how to work the frog.
i like to walk it for about 6-7 pops then let it sit for 5 seconds then go again and stop when you get to edge of cover
if you're new dont really worry about walking it. once youre more comfortable with the bait practice a bit and you'll get the hang of it.
