I remember back in 2012, I really wanted to watch this movie in theaters. But I unfortunately did not have a driver's license and had nobody else to take me to see the movie. So my grandma took me to see The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. She went in not knowing anything about Tolkien or Middle-earth, and she did not like watching movies that were scary or violent. She figured she would sit in her seat and eat popcorn the entire time while I watched the movie. But as we watched the movie, she became completely enthralled in it. She loved the scene when the dwarves started arriving at Bag End, and was on the edge of her seat whenever the characters were in danger, and genuinely wanted to see them survive. It was a great experience for both of us. After that, I waited patiently for three years until all three Hobbit movies were released and watched before showing her The Lord of the Rings. She ended up loving all six movies. Not only that, but it opened up the chance for me to watch all kinds of other movies and TV shows with her that she normally wouldn't ever consider watching, and she ended up enjoying a good number of them.

Wtf are you talking about? Lmao
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey's Ranking on IMDb places it ONLY as #249 in the Top 250 ranked movies of all time. Unlike any of The Lord of the Rings movies which are much higher, An Unexpected Journey might lose its spot on that list. Aww...COME ON PEOPLE!!! I just hope the last 2 Hobbit movies receive MUCH better reactions when they are released... :(
There are far better films in existence that aren't even in the top 250. I wouldn't worry about it.
Seeing Rings of Trash makes this trilogy a masterpiece, i always loved this even tho people hated, and i love it even more now
Time to do a hobbit lotr marathon for eye bleaching
Anyone here in 2021? ❤️
This one was better than the desolation of smaug ! The six people I was with all agreed.
we all have our preferences.
I AM WAY TOO EXCITED FOR THIS!
THERE'S TWO EXTREMELY TALENTED HOMEGROWN AUSTRALIAN ACTORS IN THERE AND FREAKING MARTIN FREEMAN
GAWD KILI AND FILI ARE SO FREAKING ADORABLE
Despite what some people say, I really enjoyed this movie! It was a bit more lighthearted than the lotr but it had the same adventure feel. And I loved how they tied it with the original series...it sent shivers down my spine!! This is THE beginning! :D
So excited for the next one!!
My fav films after TLOTR😍
So glad they made a movie of the first book. THE HOBBIT gets lost among the Ring Cycle, etc. but whenever Tolkien is presented as an influential writer that book is mentioned first.
Watching these movies right now and my gosh, they flood all memories of when I was hyped to see this movie. Lord of the rings was my childhood and then when this trailer went on in theaters drove me insane.
10 years today, and as a Tolkiendil, I feel the same emotion!! 🎂😍♥️ A global Number 1, and deservedly so!! 👏👏👏Eternally grateful for this amazing return to Middle Earth, every frame as excellent and beloved as LOTR!! It is time to say what most of us think: I Love "The Hobbit"!!! 👍👍👍😊
This movie was soooooooooo goddamn epic and amazing, I really liked everything about it :D! Love Peter Jackson for making again such a good movie, The beginning and ending were both so sweet. Can't wait for part 2
Came here for cleansing my eyes after watching Rings of Power shite
Loyalty, honour, a willing heart...i can ask no more than that...perfect dialogue ❤
Gollum was the savior of An Unexpected Journey.
they used the same soundtrack of a harry potter trailer. awesome
Lil' Peter Yeah, it's practically the same but without the chorus. Still cool fact.
Pedro Pequeno The soundtrack is Immediate Music - Destiny of the Chosen. Loved it.
and what's the ost that starts at 1:45 ?
Cpt.Phantom Immediate Music - The Lords Shall Rule
I think
I went to theatres and seen all three LOTR and I can't wait to see The Hobbit too. I have read the hobbit over again and I loved it more then when I read it in grade 5. I am 23 now and feel lucky to be able to FINALLY enjoy the hobbit as a brilliant, epic trilogy. Thanks Peter Jackson!! DEC 14!!
I haven't watched the movies but have read the book. Does thorin die in the movies too?
SHH don''t spoil it to the people who haven't read the books! and by the way, we dont know XD there are 3 movies...
Sola oh sorry, thought the whole book was made into 1 movie, didn't know they were making 3 movies out of 1 book.
fazal ihtisham it's ok. I never expected it too XD such a short book...3 movies? But im still grateful that we got to see more of middle Earth
Sola :)
Spoiler, do not read if you haven't watched The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies
Yes, Thorin, Fili, and Kili die in the last hobbit movie
the hobbit is my favoriet movie
I love this movie so much. Middle-earth for ever!!!
Still don't understand how 1 300 page book was made into a film as long as 3 400 page books
+Lily Blades $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
+BattleBunny Jinx To give the story the needed depth and identity…
+BattleBunny Jinx
Fair point
1300 pages?!?!?! Jesus, what edition of the Hobbit is it that you have? Never seen an edition with more than 400 pages...
one 300-paged book
Who's there in 2024
Definitely the best of the three Hobbit movies - I wish the others had been more like this.
Also, 2019, anybody?
any recommandation?
What do you mean?
The only thing that change was that Guillermo del toro wasn’t in the others two so
Why do the movie always have to be the same as the book? I think it is great they do somthing different,
( srry for bad english
its not the same as the book. in fact they added in new things that weren't even in the book.
Linda birchtree who cares its based on the fucking book other wise they wouldn’t exsist
