    Pretty serious build going on. Your work looks fantastic. That transmission cost more than I paid for my C5 lol.

    That's a ton of work for one person, and I empathise with the camera struggles trying to film. Can't wait to see it in action in the future.

      The struggle has been real!!! And I tripped on the tripod and smashed a new camera. Gah!!!

    Do you rev match when down shifting this?

    • @Poweredby8Racing
      @Poweredby8Racing  Рік тому +1

      The MOTEC does all the magic. It’s more of a blip than an actually rev/match.

    How much torque can that handle? It seems to be that every source has different ratings.

      I know cars around 550rw/500lb running them. I’d have to ask for the exact rating though. But let me get back to you shortly.

    What's the total cost for that trans swap?

    • @Poweredby8Racing
      @Poweredby8Racing  2 роки тому +2

      Because the global market is so jacked right now, it’s hard to say cause prices are fluctuating up and down everyday. Most sequential swaps are between $18k-$45k but can be more if the project requires it. But that’s a good ball park depending on needs.
      I purchased this through GSPEED, they would be best to answer any pricing questions 877-512-5180.

    This is cool as hell….but what kinda loses me, in order for a C5 vette to be worthy of this kinda tranny above & beyond what the stock unit can handle (which is quite a bit..650-800whp will hold) before needing upgrading which would only run ya $3-5k max from RPM etc…..it would appear to me if you got the power/performance to justify this tyranny it’d be @ a power level that would be impossible to hook anywhere lol? Any traction secrets I don’t know about yet? My C5Z is blown/cam/meth etc 718whp it struggles w/ Toyo R888Rs 305s…..

      The car is built for circuit racing. Many of the components on the car right now would be a waste of money.
      No traction secrets, R888’s I’ve had on a blown Mustang, they were good performance street tires, but definitely not good for drag racing. And now there are much better tires than even them for performance street driving with like tread ware.
      As for traction on a circuit we run Michelin S8 or S9 depending on the occasion.

      You realize this is an open track car right? You rarely will find blowers and certainly not meth injections IMO on a road course car. Kinda of a weird comment.

      @@PNW_Car_Mods it’s a shit load of $$$ to put into an older vehicle that - as I mentioned- struggles for traction @ a certain power level & I assumed (incorrectly maybe) that this thing was pushing 1000hp or something to warrant this kind of tranny….b/c yeah obviously gonna shift quick as hell…but not quicker than a regular auto, & there are traditional twin disc ceramic clutches like the McLeod RXT in my car that can handle up to 1200whp…. Obviously can’t shift that as quickly as this tranny or an auto. So you get where my question arises from? I figured this was for a crazy high HP super built street/track car for fun…..or you wanted a car that you still could shift but would work for drag racing or circuit racing/road course work. Bottom line- what kinda power does it make? I guess I’m trying to figure out if I could justify something like this in my car instead of rebuilding the stock trans when it goes (diff/driveshaft already done). I get that the R888Rs aren’t the top tire for track grip….but probably are one of the top tires for dual street/track work. I do have a separate rear tire setup w/ Mickey Thompson ET street Rs on which DO hook very well, but I use em for when I want to put all the power down on the street going to car show/messing around in Mexico on straight line pulls….but a) obviously CANT get caught in rain, b) chew threw em quick esp on street, c) have no cornering grip. I don’t care bout drag racing anymore I prefer HPDE or road course when the bank account allows.

      I didn’t see this reply. So while some see the C5 as an old platform, it’s actually a very good platform and all components can easily be moved over to a C6. Purchasing a MOTEC is like a lifetime motorsports investment since you can take it wherever you want.
      This transmission is only rated to 600hp, so my power levels will be below that and will be adjusted according to the class I’m going to run for the weekend. While you can run a McLeod RXT to 1200hp, notice the size of the clutch. My clutch is tiny so it requires more levels to create the same surface areas as a larger. But what it allows us is a much faster reviving car vs a street friendly clutch. This small Tilton clutch is basically on/off, there is no slipping the clutch like a RXT which would be more street friendly.
      As far as shifting, yea, this will shift fast and be in the correct gear. The other thing people don’t realize with a sequential is the gearing combinations are almost infinite. So you gain speed this way as you don’t lose 3 gears due to a manufacture trying to meet EPA MPG criteria. And you are always in a power band with properly matched gearing.
      Price for a quality sequential starts around $25k.
