  • Dr. Aaron Edwards was a professor at a Christian university in England. He made one small tweet about the importance of standing up for Biblical definitions of sexuality. He was fired without explanation for that tweet. Dr. Edwards explains the importance of speaking up, shares his hope for the Christian scholastic world, and encourages believers to get back to following Jesus instead of catering to society.

    “Cultivating cowardice.”
    Powerful word. God help us.

We often put weight on one sin over another. While God does hold certain sins as more severe, all sin separates us from God.
One reason why there may be so much distaste from the secular worldview about Christianity is that we do a real good job at pointing out the speck in someone’s eye without first inspecting the log in ours.
Righteous judgement exists and we should never compromise on our faith, but if we are not actively seeking and living for God as well as producing evidence of our true commitment to Christ daily, then it may be better for us to just keep our mouths shut when it comes to judging another sin.
This isn’t to say we ever say it is OK or condone it if directly confronted on the issue, and if we are given the opportunity to share the gospel, we should openly embrace those opportunities. However, there is also a difference between cowardice and just knowing when to stay silent and just let God work or judge according to His will.
Love the episode though. It is an important topic of discussion, but there are a plethora of topics we can discuss that emphasizes “cowardice” we, as Christians, show in things that are much more subtle in the transparency of the sin and not holding our own body of Christ accountable and firm in our faith with Christ as the head. Once we address those as a body of Christ, I think the “in your face” topics will be much more receptive from differing ideological views.
Keep doing what you’re doing though brother! Enjoyed this episode.
