Hello my little winglets! Welcome to another SOPLANE trip report! Today we are flying from Dublin to Chicago O'Hare on my way to Seattle. I was so chuffed with myself as I saved myself £600 by flying from Dublin instead of Glasgow. Flights out of Glasgow on United were a whopping £950. Out of Dublin it was a bargain at £350. Hence, I hopped on a Ryanair for £25 return Glasgow-Dublin! By the way, the United fare was hand-luggage only! The flight itself was great! The crew were young and upbeat - not something I am used to from an American airline! Seats were comfortable enough and the inflight entertainment had a good choice of programme, although the hardware was a bit dated. Best of all was that there was only one seat free on the whole flight - and it was next to me! What stood out on this flight was the food. I was blown away by the taste of it. The Thai chicken curry packed a punch, full of flavour. It was on par with a Thai Airways curry I would say - maybe United's Star Alliance partner lend them a recipe? LOL I am also in love with the ice cream service which is served separately after dinner. Rather than having the whole meal on one tray, this added some umpf to the whole experience. Anyway, with all the United bashing that seems to be sort of a sport these days, I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this flight and it way exceeeded any of my expectatios.
Again, another delightful trip report from my favorite cheeky reporter SOPLANE! Your incoming flight from Ireland seemed alot more comfortable than any of my flights within the states....I am so glad you made it home safely!
Hey Mandy! Thanks for watching :) Oh I had a fantastic flight....and having the seat next to me free was an added bonus. And that curry was just so good!
For a 24 year old airplane that cabin looks to be in impressive upkeep. Wings look clean too. Took off like a rocket even full on an 8 hour flight. Long live the Flying Pencil.
@@SOPLANETUBE It really depends on how well they are upkept. United tends to be hit-or-miss there: the former-Continental units like this one (N##1##) are generally in better shape than the legacy-United units (N5##UA). Delta also has some really nice 757's with newer retrofit interiors.
I guess so. I've been on a United 757 which was held together by a lot of duct tape on the inside haha. And the IFE was skipping on two 757 trips a year apart. I live in Dublin Ireland. You were asked not to film by a UA agent@DUB. Instead of your snide remark, why not show appreciation and respect to the UA agent regarding security and the privacy of other passengers. Again you were not allowed to film going through US-Pre clearance - because of security issues. People of all ages are flying, some are more mobile than others and may need assistance - your remark about about people being slow was insulting. DUB is a hub for Ryanair - that is why you saw so many of their aircrafts.
Hey! Thanks for you comment and I am sorry you were taking my comments the wrong way. I guess you are not familiar with my channel and myself. I am being cheeky. It's my shtick. Humour is very subjective I guess. The UA agent was really polite - which is why I said that he politely asked me to do so. It's in the video. I do NOT film airline staff. I also don't particularly film people - you see very few faces in my videos. I put a lot of effort into my videos and get very excited each time I am at an airport. And I want to share my experience so when I can't film, I am disappointed. It's just natural. What I don't do is argue with staff. If a flight attendant tells me not to film - I don't do it (in fact, just happened last week). What I would like though is an official position of an airport or an airline on people filming. This is what is lacking - clear guidance on what is acceptable and what is not. I am very well aware of the sensitivities around security and immigration. I have travelled enough (and am old enough) to know this. However, in terms of me hating people. That's just a fact. Not insulting anyone. I just hate people. Again, I am sorry you took my video the wrong way. Take what you see and read online with a pinch of salt and if there is something you don't like, just don't watch it. Everyone and their dog are making trip reports these days and I am sure there is something for you too.
@@SOPLANETUBE There was no humour in your comments - they were immature and insulting. Security at all airports has to be respected at all times - also the privacy of other people travelling. Regarding your comment about certain people being slow to board an aircraft - be aware that there are always other passengers on board any commerical flight you take and they, like you board at their own measure.

@@SOPLANETUBE I have flown TransAtlantic for over 40 years, so I very much aware of flight/airport etiquette/security/immigration.
@@patrickdublin OK ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Chemtrail? Seriously? Now you're just displaying your ignorance, stop, you're better than that.
Hahaha....it's a joke!!! 🤣🤣🤣
SOPLANE
Unfortunately there are far too many paranoid, conspiracy theorists who will take that comment seriously.
Oh no! LOL (I live a very sheltered life)
