Direct flights have stops and sometimes a change of aircraft but, the flight number continues to a 3rd city. For example DL 123 ATL to JFK ( stops everyone gets off) there may or may not be a switch of aircraft or crew and then the same flight number DL123 continues from JFK to TLV. Nonstop is just that, no stops.
I was on a "direct" flight ORD-SNN once that stopped in DUB first and then took off again and flew another 20 minutes to Shannon. I think most airlines have abandoned the concept of direct flights that make stops because of the confusion and frustration among pax when they realize they have to make a stop. Here in the US, Southwest still has some though but they do not call them "direct" rather pax simply stay on the plane and then continue on to a second destination.
@@jakeschroeder1553 Qantas still operated QF1/2/9/10/11/12 as direct one stop due to range issues. These being SYD-SIN-LHR, MEL-PER-LHR and SYD-LAX-JFK

You are infectious to watch, I guess because we share the love of commercial airplanes and airlines. I am your newest subscriber (for a short while) and would like to say thanks, Jeb! German Aviation yes sir Air transats I’m looking forward to flying on such an old bird probably be my last chance before she goes to the retirement home. Hoping to start a new like in Canada
I live in Ibiza, but go to London a lot. During the summer, these can often be the most crazy party flights in Europe. So much so that some airlines have stopped selling alcohol on this route, due to the high number of people arrested for offences whilst drunk. Please Dennis, try a late night Stansted to Ibiza flight on Ryanair/ Easyjet, I would love to know what you make of it. 😁
To answer the question Jeb asks in the video, "Nonstop" flight is no stop, but at least on Southwest "Direct" means 1 stop but same plane, no change of planes required. Not as fast as a "Nonstop" but a good deal shorter and much less hassle than changing planes.
Excellent video from 2 of my fave You Tuber Av Geeks! I have 4 favourites, you two, Paul Lucas and Josh Cahill! That doesn’t stop me dreaming though ......! Thank you to all of you for what you do!
Great video guys! As a dedicated traveller and plane freak I really enjoy your high quality descriptions. I lived in Adelaide for several years and will be on a Bunnik tour next month. Next year we plan to travel to see friends in Michigan and do a little touring around so if we can work in Greensboro, it will almost feel like home away from home!
Congrats, Jeb! Dennis, you'll be the next one to celebrate 100k followers, so Jeb needs to go to Adelaide. Now if we can get a joint flight review, that would be awesome...maybe invite Paul S., Paul L., and Josh. Thanks to you both for great videos.

The difference between a direct and nonstop flight is: Direct means the same plane with stop(s). Nonstop means no stop between two cities. However, today both are interchangeable to mean no stops between cities. Jeb, tip of the hat for joining up and recognizing other UA-camrs in the game.
Kurt Gubitz A direct flight means only that the flight number doesn’t change. You can have what the airlines call a “change of equipment” on a direct flight and change planes.
And to add to what Brian King had to say, you can fly on the same plane but not fly direct, because the flight number changes (this happens on triangular routes)

So: NYC to Dallas Direct may mean you board in NYC, the plane stops in Atlanta, a few people get off and a few more get on, it takes off and lands in Dallas.
