In honor of Janis Joplin, she passed away, 50 years ago today. Incredible talent and music, sadly she was only 27 years old. RIP Pearl
Pearl was the best, and she still is.
Wow, 50 years without Janis. That's insane.
Rest In Power Janis
I heard the news of her death on TV, I was just a child but it made me so terribly sad. I loved her.
27s club
I am 65 years old and in between realized that having grown up with the onset and rise of rock music was a great gift to my generation
Absolutely
Absolutely wonder time to grow up. 67 and listen to Janis all the time
I feel the same. I'm 64 and I feel so passionate about all the great music we have been able to experience! I love Janis.
I’m 13 and completely agree I love all the music from the 60s-70s music and to me it’s amazing it’s just so interesting and fun
Yes! I'm 61, and Janis Joplin's songs are just as wonderful today as when I first listened to them as a young girl in the 1960s.
I am 70 and still love her, she was a piece of my soul
Im 72 FROM CALIFORNIA, I SEEN HER.IN Concert WHEN I WAS 18yrs .AND WOW SHE WAS AMAZING..❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love,love her music.She was awesome!
Wow!
Janis Joplin had a hell of a voice.
Miles Jolly don’t say hell bro
Miles Jolly ❤️ love
@@seanscott8233 why the hell not?
Talia because I said so
she had a heavenly voice
She was an absolute talented and tortured soul 🙏❣️
What a voice I am 75yrs old and still jamming to one of the greatest voices of all time
Keep Jamming, I am at 75 also and I will never let go of that feeling in Janis in me!!!!!!!
I never stop listening to Janis. Many have done this song. Janis does it best.
I love this song. I consider it my theme song. I am 70…..and I realize, this attitude is why I have remained single all my life 🤣🤣🤣
A Volcano which have broken so high, magical
It's flames ever devoring,
Its saine and saint fumes in our memories ever lasting,
Making us more vulnerables, more humains, more kings
Amor Yahi
One of my all-time favorite songs, She had such a powerful voice
Yeah Faith Hill tried to cover this as a country version and it was awful!
@@AnnaLVajda
yeah, Joplin digs deep on this one & slays it, that there comes from pain... deep down in yer heart
That's how your sopposed to sing rock music I love how Janis Joplin kinda just screams it out and it sounds perfect most people aren't able to do that they hold back to ,uch
I agree with last message. I'm 70 years old and happy I had Janis Joplin in my life. She was a revolution to the music world. Right on girl. Shout it out! ✌❤
Really know? Why you even mention your age like 100 people here? What age has to do with music preferences
Same here. 70 and still listening and getting my "Cheap Thrills" 🤗
After 50 years I still thanks Pearl for giving oxygen back to my ears, destroyed by the shitty music we hear today!!
My dad passed away last August at 90 years old. He grew up at the end of the jazz-WWII era and his huge record collection I inherited had all sorts of musical genres from jazz, early rock, classical, theater and movie show tunes. So my dad had a lot of different tastes in music. He wasn't a huge 60s plus rock fan but did love Ms. Joplin very much. This song was one of his favorites and I love listening to it now and thinking of my dad. Miss you! :)
Your father was a renaissance man. My dad would have missed Janis as "bloody rubbish!" I however love her.
W2g daddy
Have you read Mitch Albom’s “Magic Strings of Frankie Presto” yet? If you’re a fan of literature as well as music I suggest you do. Broke and lifted my heart all in one go. Bless you and stay safe xxx
Hold onto those wonderful memories , My Parents beat me like a bad dog , When they drank my father would beat me with his fists till i blacked out ! My Mothers famous weapon of choice was a extension cord and beat me till i had nothing but black and blue , I had enough at 1o years old and I tried to eat enough pills and slit my arms and wrists till I passed out , Woke in a mental hospital arms taped , Next step they had them electrocute my brain till I had zero memory , They called it electric shock therapy ( Good way of erasing what they did to me , ) Side note my Brother who is still alive at 70 years old filled me in on what truely happened !
Hence why I love the Blues !
Wow! Singing this out loud AGAIN at a rough time in 2023! made me feel GOOD! Thanks, always to Janis Joplin!
I'm right there with you.
Luna,
i used to sing when i'd drive just so i could belt it out LOUD,
i knew a girl once who when the train would roll thru she'd run down to the tracks & yell as loud as she could right at that train...it was her therapy...wishing u good
🙏💜🕯️🌱🐾👣🌿🌎🕊️
Take it!
@@mindsigh4 absolutely!
I can so relate!
God rest your beautiful soul Janis 🙏💔😥THE QUEEN OF ROCK & BLUES!!! 💐💐💐💐💐💐💐
Somewhere in heaven, Janis was so happy and proud that people up to this day still appreciated this song !...Outstanding voice!..rare one of a kind!
All time classic.
"I'm gonna show you baby that a woman can be tough". Great, GREAT lyric.
Yeah and she didn't write it - Jerry Ragovoy and Bert Berns did and Erma Franklin sung it first.
@@Hellwyck: It's still a great lyric, regardless of who wrote it or sang it first.
Her song and voice pulls the truth out of every one of us who've had our hearts broken. RIP Janice.
@@capt3662 Thank you for your service. A lot of people who served there never healed from the things they lived through. I wish you well.
Janis and Cheap Thrills 8 track served with me in the Nam
One of the best singers of all time
Nobody can outdo Janis' version of this song. To me, she owns it. Everyone else pays rent. RIP Pearl
WHAT A MASTERPIECE
Janis had a wounded soul her music showed that
*_Rest In Peace Janice_*
*_Job Well Done, Blues Lady_*
One of the great blues voices of my generation, gone too soon. She had a tough exterior with a soft heart. She was so misunderstood at a time when men feared strong women. She was a pioneer in rock n roll and in life.
Janis Joplin
Sang
TAKE IT
Take another little piece a my heart
Now BABY!!
Janis Joplin
Was a talented rock.and roll singer
She sang TAKE IT
Take another little piece of my heart now baby
They still fear strong women, this toxic patriarchy will fall soon!
Yes, thank you. Men have always and always will fear strong women
Great singer. One of a kind in her days
Happy 80th birthday Janis Joplin!!!
I don't care what people think about us baby boomers. We had the best music.
And created it too.
Absolutely 💯❤❤❤
You guys definitely did.
As gen z ur absolutely right, there is nothing better.
Such a POWERFUL voice! My favorite song! I'm in my 70's, i have it on a CD in my car and like I did as a teen, turn up the volume and sing along! I get weird looks, for an old lady rocking down the road, but age is only on the OUTSIDE! ✌&❤
I get those looks too😊
you are not alone in rocking down the road with Janis{77}
This shows Rock and Roll will live on forever .
Remembering Janis Joplin today on her birthday, who would be 77
Happy Birthday, Queen!!! Love u always!!!
God, that's a mindfuck, isn't it?
Too bad she's not here to listen to her music
She'd of been one hell of an old lady.
So exactly 50 years older than she was when she passed.... damn that hits different..... sure she'd still rock if she were around like the Stones do
Born in 1959 and I thank GOD those were the best times of my life because of of the greatest artists in the world to listen to ❤
My husband love her music and when he pass away I play her music in his wake .
In 1968 , I was an 8th grader .
I loved this Song . Still one of my favorite records . 😊😊
I was in 9th grade and when I saw her perform on TV at Woodstock i was gobsmacked! Just kept thinking at the time why are some of our most gifted people taken so young. I just adored everything about her. Loved her on Dick Cavetto, a real sweet Texan girl.
@@aidenhanseman2841 Most are gone due to not giving a f**k enough of the time. I have been lucky a few too many times, but now I choose to appreciate life for life, not for a challenge or something stupid. Shit happens when you tempt fait too often. Just saying
Everybody is talking about Janis but for me, this song is all about the great guitar work from Sam and James. This song had a huge impact on my style.
Come on now. It is a cover, and Janis turned it into Heaven on Earth. Certainly, no offence to the band, but again, come on now!!!
Absolutely, totally agree with how their blues rock tone has influenced me.
Any guitarist and drummer can read a tab but the talented make it their own 😊
@@Brian-qg8dg I personally find Janis‘s voice like nails on a chalkboard. I love the band though.
@@KevyNovano that title goes to Katy Perry. Screech and goose bumps. Joplin's voice? Powerful and raw and beautiful all at once. That is what makes her special as a singer.
Sam plays the solos on this one. But I agree, both guitarist were great and so was the entire band. Janis never should have left them.
I love that her voice is so unique love it
Love this song
Everything about the Mad Lass is unique, it’s lovely
Name another vocalist who could produce a 2-note chord!
I dunno, sounds a lot like Noddy holder
I never much cared for Janis Joplin's singing until fairly recently! I'm 80 years old and am now appreciating the music of my time. Rock on where ever your soul is resting , Janis.....
Never forget.
Oh my goodness, what a voice!
A spirit that was taken from people too soon...A long time, before I wasn’t born yet ❤️😢
This is a product of pouring your whole soul into a song
Good music is something you have to find yourself
Her voice is perfect for this song. I can't imagine anyone else singing it as perfectly as she did 🔥🔥🔥
Bellissimo brano
Love this song
Me either! No one else could do it justice!
My favorite part is the wail at 3:32.
The psychedelic sixties at its musical best! Janis Joplin really knew how to rock back in the day!
My dad had this album and he used to play it all the time when I was growing up. This was one of his favorite songs. ❤️
Me too
You’re cute.
I love everything about this song. The guitar work! The bass! Those drums! The singer's not too shabby either.
I’m 74 years old and I was at Big Brother’s and Janis at the Philly Electric Company Show. It was very small with low ceilings. You could barely see and breath from the smoke. We we’re all pushed up against the small stage! It still is just a special moment of my memory in my life. It was 1968I think? LOL I was actually attending Villanova at the time and selling Tickets at the Pie Shop. It was along time ago! The Electric Factory was just trying to get off the ground.
Janis' love for music is a gift to all of us ❤♥🎼
We'll never forget her.

I am 14 years old and told my dad a while ago that i like Janis Joplin. He became quite suprised as he told me, that not a lot of people around my age is familiar with her.
I am glad that i grew up with music like this.
I think that it’s a way better than most of the music people at my age listen to nowadays.
Today it is one of my all-time favourite songs, She had such an unique and powerful voice.
I'm 14 too and just discovered Janis, now listening all her albums
This is the BEST version of this song, Janis is feeling every word. What a amazing singer.
You are 100% correct. It's like hearing Merry Clayton singing backup on "Gimme Shelter".
Wow grew up with Janice amazing❤❤❤
Janis Joplin sempre foi e sempre será a Eterna Rainha do Rock & Blues!
A maior cantora que o mundo conheceu!
👍👍 the one & only Janis 👍👍
I’ve heard this!! Love the rawness! She really had a unique & incredible voice 😢
I was 10 years old when Woodstock came about. And it was then that I first heard of Janis Joplin and what a great singer and performer she was, so I just had to hear her music for myself. At 10 yo I immediately became a Jan fan. I am now 60 and still love watching her live performance videos. There will never be anyone that even comes close.
You look amazing for your age!!! ❤️❤️❤️🤸♂️🤸♂️🤸♂️

She was shit at Woodstock. Admitted it herself.
@@bjorno2080 her humility apparently fooled at least one person ...

Esse som jamais será esquecido! Eterna Janis
Janice & her band were great. Janice is known for her edgy soulful powerful voice, but she was ALSO versatile. Listen to her when she sings "smoothly". What a great talent. She had great dynamics & could turn it on & off at will. This was a "live "performance in the studio which makes it great. Raw live honest power.
So true! No one has come close to how she sang ! Harsh , yet she can take it to another level. Comes from the heart!!!
Janis For Ever!
The best combination of psychedelia and blues
and real hard rock n' roll
voice gives me goosebumps

Me too. Love Janice Joplin. Love her songs❤
Such a good song!
Listening to this and comparing it with what passes for music industry "product" today makes me suspect that devolution is much more plausible than any sort of evolution. So much more alive.
You need to listen to Mike Keneally “cause of breakfast “
Janis, will be forever! All the best from Romania!
THESE KIND OF LEGENDS NEVER DIE
I'm 19, my Grandma introduced me to Janis Joplin when I was about 10-12 years old, her songs make it more special to me bc my grandma and I would listen to her all the time, she passed away in September 2019 due to multiple cancers. She passed at 59, she just turned 61 in December 2020.
Your grandma knows what is good. Bless her, she must be fuckung cool.
Best grandma ever ✌🏼❤️
You are very blessed to have shared this with her and to have these memories. Janis is one of a kind. Use your knowledge of Janis to explore the blues….you will love your Grandma even more ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi Katlyn! You are 21 now and I'm 83. Sometimes life takes pieces of my life... Tonight it gave a piece back and I thought of Janis... and here you were in comments! I just wanted to say hello and wish you well.
I rememer my mom singing Me and Bobby McGee....we lost her a year ago last June. I am thankful to hear this today.
Her first chart hit with the Holding Company. From October 68. I was 15! Terrific guitar solo!
Her voice was unique and impossible to duplicate.
Her voice is so powerful. I have goosebumps when I hear her voice.
Yes. God bless Big Brother and the Holding Company; BEST back up ever for Janis
Without a doubt! Solid!!
Oh, come on, come on, come on, come on!
Didn't I make you feel like you were the only man - yeah!
An' didn't I give you nearly everything that a woman possibly can ?
Honey, you know I did!
And each time I tell myself that I, well I think I've had enough,
But I'm gonna show you, baby, that a woman can be tough.
I want you to come on, come on, come on, come on and take it,
Take it!
Take another little piece of my heart now, baby!
Oh, oh, break it!
Break another little bit of my heart now, darling, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Oh, oh, have a!
Have another little piece of my heart now, baby,
You know you got it if it makes you feel good,
Oh, yes indeed.
You're out on the streets looking good,
And baby deep down in your heart I guess you know that it ain't right,
Never, never, never, never, never, never hear me when I cry at night,
Babe, and I cry all the time!
But each time I tell myself that I, well I can't stand the pain,
But when you hold me in your arms, I'll sing it once again.
I'll say come on, come on, come on, come on and take it!
Take it!
Take another little piece of my heart now, baby.
Oh, oh, break it!
Break another little bit of my heart now, darling, yeah,
Oh, oh, have a!
Have another little piece of my heart now, baby,
You know you got it, child, if it makes you feel good.
I need you to come on, come on, come on, come on and take it,
Take it!
Take another little piece of my heart now, baby!
Oh, oh, break it!
Break another little bit of my heart, now darling, yeah, c'mon now.
Oh, oh, have a
Have another little piece of my heart now, baby.
You know you got it - whoahhhhh!!
Take it!
Take it! Take another little piece of my heart now, baby,
Oh, oh, break it!
Break another little bit of my heart, now darling, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
Oh, oh, have a

Wow the first 30 seconds of this song is like a time machine for me.. I wore this album out. She made natural curly wild hair popular in the 60s when straight hair was the thing. Thanks for saving me and my long Natural curly red hair in high school Janis, .. Wish life had handed you a better deal.
Fecking awesome just doesn't seem enough.....WOW !!
