Her style is like nothing I have ever listened to. Shamelessly "screaming" in a melody that way brings a big risk of being too annoyng or loud... BUT NO WAY IN HER CASE. She didn't only scream fancy sounds, as other artists, she screamed emotions. She had an amazing talent of literally throwing raw, bloody emotions right in our faces. When she sang, you could feel the most genuine heartbreak and desperation, exactly the way she felt it. At least, that is what I feel everytime I listen to her.
That is because Miss Joplin really felt that way and her pain could be heard and not only with your ears but also with your heart and that is why she was so troubled and she deserved better and we all know that

We are 3 sister in our early sixties. One of my best memories is when we reunited for the fist time in years in my 85 years old mother's house and sung this music from the top of our lungs ( out of tune, but course, so happy to be together and alive!).
I remember the song from "Look Who's Talking", when baby Mikey realises that if he cries that "Mommy person" will come running. Only problem is, she's not too thrilled, and is so sleep deprived she puts coffee in his bottle.
My Mama loved Janis and this song was her favorite. She just passed away yesterday. She introduced me to Janis and we listened to her music together A LOT! ❤️

L'urlo, quasi straziante e rabbioso, che introduce questo splendido brano di Janis Joplin, una sorta di melodia che sconfina in un "gospel", è a dir poco memorabile.
