I had a small frontal receding hairline. I had a hair trasplant 3 years ago and started dutasteride till the date. Worked really well. Last year i started taking creatine again and started noticing that my hair trasplant got thinner and thinner, ain't no way trasplanted hair becomes thinner since that hair doesn't have DHT. I read that a small study many years ago reported that some rugby players who took creatine, their dht serum levels spiked. I decide to leave the creatine about 3 months ago and all the lost hair grew back and thicker. I know it's a personal experience, lowest evidence level however leaving creatine helped me grow back my hair.
I'm flat out just not gonna take creatine, my muscle building genetics are good enough to carry me without it and I'm prone to balding because my dad is bald, not worth the risk, I know the studies indicate it doesn't cause hair loss, but I've read WAY too many posts on forums and comment sections from people's personal experiences that describe them losing hair quite rapidly only months into taking creatine.
The way you've written the comment shows you have some fundamental misconceptions. Hair doesn't have or not have DHT. The Hair usually in the front, specifically the follicular roots are more susceptible to DHT getting attached to them when then reduces the hair size by malnourishment. A transplanted hair (ofc depends from where exactly) even if done from the back of your head will still have some affinity to DHT but significantly lower to your normally grown frontal hair. Creatine increases over DHT which means even with low affinity the amount attached can increase and show effect.

I REPEATED THIS SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH TWICE! READ THIS! 9 months ago I did DHT tests before and after the creatine and glucose loading phase according to this scientific study: before creatine loading phase: 495.5 pg/ml, after 7 days: 413.8 pg/ml. The score went down! Now I repeated the test DHT together with testosterone (T): Before loading creatine: DHT - 403.2 pg/ml, Testosterone - 5.29 ng/ml After 7 days loading creatine: DHT - 504.6 pg/ml, Testosterone - 6.66 ng/ml In reaserch study with rugby players, there was a 56% increase in DHT after 7 days, and testosterone did not increase. In my personal case, my DHT increased by 25% and testosterone proportionally too by 25%, so it is logical that DHT will be higher. As we know from many studies, creatine does not increase testosterone. The tests I were performed at the same hour. In two attempts I have already disproved the study linking creatine with an increase in DHT. My DHT 9 months ago was the same before the loading phase as it was in the second attempt after the loading phase. However, in the second i checked my testosterone. Apparently due to other factors, my testosterone increased, so DHT also increased proportionally, and anyway, the increase in testosterone and DHT was 25%, not 56. My DHT has been between 400-500 pg/ml in four laboratory test over 9 months, regardless of creatine.

Do most people see a change with these treatments? I didn’t and stopped injections and oral meds but stuck with the lotion. Could my hormones be out of whack? How much can stress play a part?
Yes but this did not translate into greater hair loss. The study was very poorly done. Short follow up. And small patient enrolment. Other than that it was a good study 🤣

Not sure why health professionals say creatine "does not" cause hair loss when it has never been studied... just the few studies checking for testosterone is not enough.. there could be 10 other reasons why something could cause hair loss. Testosterone is not the only cause of hair loss.
I have also read that creatine can increase blood pressure and that baldness is correlated with higher blood pressure, also minoxidil suposedly lowers blood pressure

Before loading creatine: DHT - 403.2 pg/ml, Testosterone - 5.29 ng/ml
After 7 days loading creatine: DHT - 504.6 pg/ml, Testosterone - 6.66 ng/ml
In reaserch study with rugby players, there was a 56% increase in DHT after 7 days, and testosterone did not increase.
All the people here: “I took creatine and my hair fell out in two weeks”
The doctors in the video: “there is no evidence that creatine is related to hair loss”
Great video you two! Appreciate the research and wisdom!
Our pleasure!
Omg it’s yes or no
4:25. NO
Thanks for watching
No wonder that paper wasn't reproduced, there is huge money in supplements and it is not in their interest to scare away their target audience.
Well they did the research again it just didn't have the same findings.
I would like to hear what you have to say about female pattern baldness. I am struggling with alopecia. I have tried several treatments including scalp injections of cortisone, lotions and oral meds. Do most people see a change with these treatments? I didn’t and stopped injections and oral meds but stuck with the lotion. Could my hormones be out of whack? How much can stress play a part?
Thanks Docs, blessings.
I’ve been taking creatine for over 20 years and I have a full head of hair at the age of 43 with no signs of hair loss
I've taken Creatine twice in my life. Both times hair proceeds to massively fall out by the 2nd month.
They didn’t see “increased hair loss” in the study. They measured an increase in serum DHT.
Yes but this did not translate into greater hair loss. The study was very poorly done. Short follow up. And small patient enrolment. Other than that it was a good study 🤣
Taken creatine off and on for about 10 years. About 2 years straight currently, no hair loss for me at age 33
Don't ask Will Smith hahahaha, OK I subscribed !
Thanks !!
Yes, it raises dht levels especially in men with male pattern baldness, so creatine will make hair fall out yes!
From what i've heard from one of body building youtubers a few years ago is that it accelerates on people with the genetic predisposition to male patern baldness.
Hair or muscle loss 😂 do I have to pick 😂 ,,,,,,,,,it’s always moms fault😂😂😂😂,,,,, take your caps off ,, next video,,, and let’s see what you’ve got under them 😊
They clearly aren’t healthy doctors look at them
DHT also increases the size of your prostate
Literature on male pattern baldness is "sparse" 😅
Still have all my hair, been taking the stuff for years and turn 50 this year.
I’ve been taking creatine for 1,5yrs consistently and haven’t seen any change to my hair. 🤷🏻♂️ my muscles are way bigger though, feels great. Also feel more focused although that may be attributed to other factors.
What brand do you use?
I’m on Creatine and my hair has fallen like 50% in a couple months. Stopping today.
Did you grow back your hair after stopping creatine?
@@bhargavkrishna4207 tbh I believe it has improved enough to see less scalp. I think it’s getting better now that I’m off it. My workouts haven’t gotten that bad either. I have less pump and strength, but more endurance since my pump is less intense.
@@bhargavkrishna4207 yes bro huge improvement, new hairs started growing and shading improved thanks to it
@@bhargavkrishna4207 so yeah man F creatine. Workouts are harder now but it’s not too bad. Getting 80% out of my body now in comparison to being on creatine getting an extra 20%
Yes, did you grow back your hair?
it's always the same thing. they say there hasn't been any study made on this topic = there is no data. then they always say creatine probably doesn't cause hairloss. and then there's thousands of anecdotal evidence, people going on and off creatine noticing an exact pattern. for the love of god, stop saying it doesn't cause hairloss and do a thorough and hairloss specific study. then talk. i'm staying away from creatine, the hairloss battle is hard as is
Creatine gives me energy to walk much more, lift more frequently, sleep better. I've actually lost weight due to being able to double cardio and superset, drop set 2 of 4 weekly lift sessions.
I’ve been taking creatine since January 2024 and it’s been great no hair loss. It’s definitely all genetics and diet related
I took creatine years ago and starting having huge hair loss which stopped when I stopped using creatine... Not sure why health professionals say creatine "does not" cause hair loss when it has never been studied... just the few studies checking for testosterone is not enough.. there could be 10 other reasons why something could cause hair loss. Testosterone is not the only cause of hair loss.
Did it “heal” after stopping the intake ?
supplement industry is huge
I have also read that creatine can increase blood pressure and that baldness is correlated with higher blood pressure, also minoxidil suposedly lowers blood pressure
F’ck it I’m not risking losing my hair. I just purchased it today to start taking and I’ll take the monetary loss.
100%
You won’t regret it lol. I started 3 weeks ago and my hair has been falling out like crazyyy. In the shower when washing my hair, between 30-50 hairs fall out everytime 🤯
Oh wow
@@n1kk1cathar1ne as women?
@@n1kk1cathar1neits probably a placebo effect also are you a female? If so what type of exercises do you do and when did you start taking Creatine?
VERY helpful. Thanks guys.
Since I am taking creatine ( few months) I start losing my hair massively.
So I stopped right away it’s been one week .
NO MORE CREATINE EVER ⛔️
Me too no more creatine only protein
@@Stayfocused99 Exactly ! BCAA and OMEGA 3 are good supplements too without side effects
What's the update? How's your hair now? And what brand of creatine was it?
Did your hair grow back fine or no?
@@splixx3827 Actually few months later , it’s at the same point , there can be many reason but the increase of DHT level must be the cause . I think if you have a predisposition, taking creatine will accelerate the process of hair loss as it improves your results, but keep in mind doing regularly fitness even without creatine will increase your DHT , so you will loose your hair anyway. I am taking at the moment herbal MEDECINE to promote hair growth
Definitely increases the Hairfall rate
Tried creatine at 38 years old with stabilized hair loss thanks to finasteride.
Hair started falling again after 2 weeks despite finasteride.
Stopped right away.
Hair stopped falling
You don’t need studies
It does lead to hair loss, from my experience
Can you do a video on the "grounding sheet". You are supposed to ground your body and get better sleep...
Been taking it for like 6 years and im 28 now. No hair loss, but everyone in my family has alot of hair even in old age.
yeah im losing hair as im getting older but when i took creatine....i was going bald only after a week... my hair immediately regrow when i stop
"But what do we do with our hands?"
- "Just keep moving them bro"
I’ve taken creatine for five months now and haven’t seen any signs of balding.
Make in detail pictures of your hairline and then do it again in 1 year, i started noticing after over a year recently comparing to old photos, had 0 hair loss before taking it and now i need a transplant
As a runner/swimmer, is there any benefits to creatine? Been feeling my age as I get older (just hit mid thirties) and I'm looking for something to help with workout and recovery. Thanks, Doc(s)!
John investigate animal based meals. Me age 60 feeling years younger and sharper too! Many animal based say “I wish I’d started earlier.” Now’s your chance!
I loved Creatine it improved my performance significantly but I also noticed my hair falling in the shower like crazy. It stopped when I stopped taking Creatine.
Did it grow back?
@@mark2073 i put gel on every day and my hair is not as thick as it used to be. The hair loss has stopped tho.
I sweeear when i was about 22 I started using creatine and loved it - after about 8 months I noticed my hair getting brittle and I felt like it was thinning out. When I looked it up I saw there was that paper on the rugby players and no-one else really talking about it. Since stopping creatine that problem went away.
That's interesting. Evidence is very weak but hey whatever works.
Make another video about CT scans and hair loss. Lots of people are reporting that.
Nice video. Ive always heard that creatine is one of the most researched supplements and the benefits far outweigh "risk". Even heard the water retention people worry about is usually very minimal and balances out? Anywho, i take it nearly everyday with no issues! Thanks again for the reassurance!
Starts at 4:20 thank you.
My hair has been growing normally , I’ve been taking it for a year already no issues
Hlo doctor see i have a question am already talking finasteride 1mg so if i take creatinine is there a possibility of hairloss
The research says no
@@TalkingWithDocs could you point me to the research you are referring to please? Or do you refer to the lack of research?
I’ve been taking it for a few years in my mid-40s. No hair loss here.
Could taking creatine cause hair loss in women? Thank you!
Hair loss in patches, but it's growing back in. What causes this. Thanks
that is telogen effluvium, a condition caused by stages of high stress to the body let that may be an infection, poor mental state, poor nutrition, lack of sleep, etc. Although the stress needs to be considerable for it to happen. TE is mostly of the times temporal and it fixes itself after your body is not suffering from the stress anymore.
Hi Guys. Im on antiflammatories Arthrexin n Flexicam. Hair falling out alot. Does Biotin and Silica help? Thanks Pam
Yes biotin def helps
Thanks Pam
So the question is can topical dht blocker will prevent hair loss while you take creatine !?
Red meat has creatine in it and it’s about the best thing to eat for you. (Organic and grass fed obviously)
Took creatine, started losing hair within a couple of weeks. Hairline went back an inch in front and way back in the corners.
Stopped taking creatine and hair loss Stopped after 6 weeks. Then started growing back a couple weeks after that. Im in my 40s.
No history of hairloss in the two previous generations.
It seems to affect some folks, despite the lack of evidence in the literature.
Ive read many similar stories where hair comes back after stopping creatine.
Yes there are reports for sure. Just no studies. Glad it came back
@TalkingWithDocs oh my gosh, so am I lol. And thanks!
If you are genetically determined to go bald, this could accelerate it.
Can creatine be taken with Finasteride to block DHT ?
Dont try finasteride. Its the worst drug ever.
It doesn’t cause hair loss in everyone. It accelerates it with guys with a more aggressive Aga.
0:21 what's the deal with creatine. the tub is round, the scoop is round, we should call it ROUNDtine...
lol seinfeld
@@novelaego2404 😁👍
I think it's not so much creatine but the longer/stronger stress you can put during workout is possibility
OK, so here’s my situation. My CK level has been above 700 and at one time was 4200 and I was hospitalized. K level constantly been going up and down at the lowest 700.
I do not work out. I do not do drugs. I don’t do anything strangest. And I see multiple doctors and no one can figure out what’s going on.
Hello gentleman! This is your friend, Debbie.
Might I suggest a topic for you two to research and discuss? “Grounding”. I just watched a video that randomly came into my UA-cam feed re: Grounding. I am firmly persuaded you two would provide the balance that I need in this riveting, electrifying mode of wellness.
:)
Thanks ! We will look into it.
I use Creatine for years now, i Never lost any hair.
I take Creatine and haven’t got any hair on my palms
🤣
Im a sickle cell patient can I take Creatine???? please answer
I recently underwent a hair transplant and I’ve been advised to stay off of whey because “there are studies” that suggest whey causes hair fall. Would appreciate if you cover a video on it
Whey protein only helps hair, because hair is made of protein. About creatin im trying to find out… doctors say it is not bad but we see lots of people saying it is. Im not taking creatina only beta alanine.
Adding: What I understood was thar creatin Will make u train harder and Will elevate the testestorone levels, testosterone turns into DHT that couses hair loss. In short, we are fucked
Taken creatine for over 10 years. Not a single hair follicle lost.
My data supports the hypothesis that creatine promotes healthy hair.
I took it for about 7 mos. and Yes it can and did cause me to Loose Hair, Allllll Over my body, when I had stopped taking it, I started to Regain hair Alllll over my body. So looking for another Supplement, that wont Cause Hair Loss...Thx
So if someone at the age of 30 is already having hair fall or hair loss. Can they also consume creatine. Wont that increase their DHT level ??
The amount of DHT increase you see from creatine is less than you would see from rigorous exercise. Up to you though
At 66 still got head of gray hair … supplementing with creatine .. but … WTF is up with eyebrows … still black and seem of be on growth steroids ..
Don’t even know what to say to that !! Thanks for watching
Time to book a flight to Turkey for hair transplants.😅
Seems to be the thing to do.
Working out harder produces more DHT, creatine allows you to work out harder, therefore more DHT.
I started taking creatine at 16. Started losing hair at 26. 🤷♂️
I think based on the comments here and on each video about the subject, it appears evident that creatine accelerates hairloss... For those having the gene of hairloss it greatly enhances it... For those that don't, it doesn't.
Simple.
He said “don’t ask Will Smith about it”💀
I started losing hair after talking creatine for a month. My hairline even went up.
What is the difference between creatine and creatinine?
before and after
Creatinine is the by product of excess creatine getting broken down , some suggests it’s bad for the liver but I’ve been on it since 1994 and have never experienced any organ problems , creatinine high levels is supposedly not good but I don’t really believe that ,I still cycle it anyway every couple months ,creatine stays in the body a month after you stop .
Thumbnail goes hard
Creatine increases my strength and I got great results but I've taken it for a few months twice in my life and stopped because of hair loss. If I ever go bald I'm getting jacked on it again lol
nice video, bring cardiac doc
Will do. Thanks
What if I take finastride and creatine bhot ?
