Donkey Kong Country is my all time favorite game and I totally have the nostalgia cranked to 11 on it. My neighbor had it and I watched him play for a few minutes and remember being blown away by the graphics. A little while later, for my 9th birthday, my mom saved up enough to get me the SNES bundle (my fav console box too). I sat around playing for hours with my mom and have really fond memories of that. Such a great game and soundtrack!
There was a lot of NES games I missed out on due to my rental store not having them. Over time I got to play Shatterhand and Journey to Silius, which I would have loved back then.
I enjoy your episodes. Just a suggestion: Can everyone(and I mean everyone) get in the room and talk about our bad ass experiences at an ARCADE! I enjoy gaming at home, especially with the newer systems; Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch. But, there is nothing like friends, a couple rolls of quarters, a big gulp and the lights and sounds of an ARCADE. It would be cool to hear the stories of machines, game challenges and all around smack talk from the group! I will start it off. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Xmen, Mortal Combat, Tekken, Street Fighter and Star Wars Pinball, BRING IT SON!
I loved the arcade as a kid even though I was intimidated by all the high school kids that went there. i got to play games like double dragon, 1945, centipede, tron and lethal enforcer
I remember being at the Arcade, which i believe was called Jupiter, in the college area of the University of Cincinnati called Clifton. I was around 8-9 and there was a huge crowd around Super Mario 3. It is one of the most prominent memories when it comes to video games.
There was a game called Rastan at a small store called Tucker’s market near the projects were I grew up. As a family we received food stamps so I would take a food stamp dollar and buy a 5 cent piece of bubble gum and take the change and play this game. The best childhood ever even being poor !!!
I remember when the story broke about Mike Tyson's punch out being banned and replaced by just Punch Out, it was an all out scramble to the store to try to find a copy of the Mike Tyson version lol!
IDK, I have like 10 on the PI for recording. I just picked one because I couldn't get the real one to load. Was hoping no one would notice...although that's dumb because it's obvious. I guess I meant I was hoping no one would care haha.
Can really relate to how much godness was missed back in the day! Guess many of them missed because of as a kid you had ONE "system" to play with and games were relatively expensive as a kid. You had what you had and sometimes traded in games you already beaten or didn´t like. Really liked watching the video! Stay awesome, thumbs up from Sweden
Yo Billy, I get the whole nostalgia. I truly do, but it seems you are avoiding the opportunity to create new memories that will become just as great as your childhood memories in the long run. I have a strong attachment for Donkey Kong Country 1, & 2 as I played them as a kid, plus they are fantastic platformers, but I believe in the future I'll also think of Secret of Mana very fondly because I played it with my gf and it's one of our new favorite games of all time, it'll turn into a great memory in the long run. Same as you, I also missed on Super Metroid but I know in the future I'll think about it like that one time I finally tried it after years and I used to live in [insert place here]. You get my drill? Hope you have a great rest of the day o/
I don't have nostalgic attachment to any of these either lol. Grew up at the end of the nes/beginning of snes era but mostly stuck with mario, mortal kombat, etc. Like you said, can't deny they're great though. The super nes classic's made me a big sup metroid fan
Hey Billy did you got a hacked supermetroid or something? The footage was weird and not from the original game i know since i've played it like a zillion times.
I was born in 89 so sadly I missed the majority of the NES, SNES and Mega Drive (I’m also Australian) but I remember playing Donkey Kong Country for the first time in the early 2000’s through emulation and even though by that stage I was already addicted to my PS2, I knew that I was playing an amazing game. My 12 year old mind was blown.
I didn’t play the original Legend of Zelda until I was an adult. I still don’t know the ins and outs of the game like I do with the NES games I had when I was a kid.
I remember playing Donkey Kong Country (or maybe one of the sequels) on an SNES store demo. I wanted an SNES so bad just for that game, but I never got one. To this day I have never bought one. They are usually way out of my price range and often the really yellowing ones which I'd rather not have. I'll find my SNES someday, though. Someday.
Best games that came out during the right era but I never played at the time. 5) Rondo of Blood 4) Super Metroid 3) Chrono Trigger 2) Monkey Island games 1) SNATCHER!
My nostalgia with dk country is when , during the under water level, my brother who's younger than I am...I was...16 he was 14, said this is porno music! And I looked at him like, how do you know? Lmao.
Hell yeah DKC was the game that came bundled with the SNES that I got for Christmas. Finally after being stuck with an atari and an NES for 8yrs or whatever!
I feel the same about Rondo of Blood and was able to finally experience it all the way through a few years ago. What an amazing game. I only had heard about it as being "Dracula X Rondo of Blood" from magazines as a kid, and was so disappointed when I played the SNES version of Dracula X.
I went through the same thing as far as castlevania and a lot of other games go.... I cant even explain it.... I was gaming at the time and somehow theres a horribly long list of great games that I just didn't play somehow
Oh yeah, I can't think any of the top of my head but I have passed on some that everyone else said I was missing out on, same thing happened with toys, now I just try to get everything I can get my hands on 😁
Great list. I prefer retro because of my childhood, they're fun games and while they're difficult they're much more simple than today's games. At least to understand how to play.
The sad existence of us small town folk, your limited to the local rental store. And I couldn't imagine my parents buying me a game and expansions on top of it multiple times lol. Got two games a year and could pick up some occasional pawn shop goods.
i played zelda and got nowhere as a kid, i dont think i even did the first dungeon. played less than an hour for sure. i only got into zelda when i got ALTTP
i missed out on basically the entire NES and SNES libraries because my older brothers sold them to get an N64 when i was like 3. but luckily my mom bought me a sega genesis model 2, so i got to experience the sega games at least.
I missed out on Zelda too. I played Link to the Past before Zelda on the NES. Haha. LttP was so awesome though. I was just more into side scrollers as a kid.... 🤷🏻♂️
Yo Billy, the vid for super metroid wasnt actually the snes game footage , just sayin, i think its something else , still love all your videos and I'm a HUGE fan!
Funny how Rondo of Blood is featured right before an ad for Castlevania Requiem (which contains Rondo of Blood). It's a solid game, and worth buying, but the ad blended into the video. It doesn't matter, just seems odd.
@@TheGameChasers That makes sense. Also I fully advocate buying a copy of Rondo of Blood regardless of whether ads push it or not. And for whatever it's worth I intentionally disabled adblock on UA-cam so channels like yours can get that money.
For me I gotta be in the right invierment right mind set to enjoy these types of games don't get me wrong I love these games. But I just can't pick up and play like I said right invierment right mind set lol great video by the way.
well nostalgia can make a bad game, good or at least something you have fun with regardless and a great game amazing, just gives it that extra boost. and super metroid has always been my fave game ever, ff7 came close but i stil go back to super metroid, which is why i enjoyed the sequel, metroid fusion so much, it was a great follow up in the same vein.
I didn't play Rondo of Blood until I was 20. I bet everyone here missed out on it when they were kids...unless they are young enough to have been kids when the PSP and Wiiware versions came out in the late 2000's.
Yeah, I don't think many of us had a turbo grafx cd back then, it's one of my favourite games, hence my thumbnail pic, but I only played it a couple years ago,
Always drop a like for the GameChasers but c'mon Billy, King Hippo is like the Spark Mandrill of Punchout. He has the easiest exploit. You just punch him in the gut when he barks and his pants fall down and you keep punching him lol
Sega Genesis, N64 , PS2 and Xbox 360 i had the most nostalgic memories with. This current gen sucks or maybe I'm just getting older and feel i have less memories with ps4 and xbox one
as a retro gamer i have always thought snes was the best console of all time. i have to say ps4 has some of the best games i have ever played. i believe later on in life i will look back and think ps4 was the goat.
Anyone else seen how fucked up Billy's beard was on his chin it look like on the left side it was only growing. on his left cheek it look like he took a razor and fucked it up ...cant stop looking at it 😂😂
Billy, I had that same issue where I wasn’t a big fan of the transition from 2d to 3D back when the N64 was coming out. I had stopped gaming a little while, but once it smoothed out and I found some good 2d games did still exist and the PlayStation was making some better 3D games, I got back into it
Well i think the Psx/N64/Saturn generation to the most visually unappealing. The Atari has primitive graphics. But i still think that looks better. Not that there wasn't any great games from 5th generation.

Anyone else get the ad for SOTN/Rondo of Blood Remaster right after Billy finished talking about Rondo?
Get A Life Bros haha I was just about to comment this same thing
Get A Life Bros I got an ad for floor cleaner 😐
Are you sure they're remasters? I think they're just making a collection and putting it on PS4. No remastering happening.
Ad? What's an ad? *strokes ad blocker*
You guys are killing it on the backdrops. I absolutely love them.
I recently replayed Donkey Kong Country 1 and 2 [3 will be played soon!] and I was really impressed by how well they both held up!
I was legit too stupid for Zelda as a kid haha. Played through it when I was probably 19 or something, and loved it.
I completely missed Star Tropics as a kid. Considering how into NES I was in 1990, i have no idea how I never at least rented it.
Oh it's Friday night!! 🎵🎤 yeah!!! As always, editing on point Billy and can identify with the bloopers hahaha 😂😄👊 Achoo!

I loved the arcade as a kid even though I was intimidated by all the high school kids that went there. i got to play games like double dragon, 1945, centipede, tron and lethal enforcer
Turtles and X-Men are classic. There is a Golden Axe arcade game that I didn't know existed until I saw it in the arcade. Wish I got to play that.

I will never get tired of that top 5 Friday song.. pure gold
Go to the arcade was the greatest.it was a great way to see your friends and meet girls
What's the name of that Super Metroid hack shown in the video?
IDK, I have like 10 on the PI for recording. I just picked one because I couldn't get the real one to load. Was hoping no one would notice...although that's dumb because it's obvious. I guess I meant I was hoping no one would care haha.

I honestly feel sorry for anyone that didn't have a chance to grow up with the Donkey Kong Country games.
I played the hell out of Donkey Kong Country growing up. Love that game and the others in the series.
Batman, Adventure Island 2 & 3, Gremlins 2 for the NES.
Castlevania Bloodlines and also Super Metroid for me too.
