When Christine sang this nobody went to the bathroom or got a drink. 45,000 people and no coughs or sneezes and you could hear a pin drop. Dead silence. Mesmerized.. I'm sure she knew how much we loved her.
Christine , along with Stevie , are , Fleetwood Mac, without either , is no Fleetwood mac. There was a period of the band without Christine,and She was dearly missed.
Believe it... Christine had a way of mesmerizing the audience and Keeping their attention. That is an attribute of a Great artist and thats exactly what Chris was.

Can’t say I ever heard or seen a documentary or read anything about Christie’s place in the band. Christie was basically keyboards and back up vocalist. I followed Fleetwood Mac for so so many years. To this day now I always will The band had their own falling outs, then again what band doesn’t.
Very simple statement , regardless what you you regard her place in the band was ( which was important )
You do not need a documenrary to hear her beautuful voice !!

I first saw Christine way back in the 60's, 67 to be precise, when with Chicken Shack. I was just eighteen and they were doing a gig at the College I was attending.She was drop dead beautiful then, and always has been.

McVie wrote the song in half an hour around midnight, but didn't have anyone around to record it. To ensure she did not forget the chord structure and melody, she remained awake the entire night, continuously playing the chords,until she could record it in the morning.....what a songbird!
Thanks for sharing that!! That's some dedication, and she knew she didn't want to forget it for a reason, it was such a beautiful song, written so brilliantly. Seeing her play it live was so magical, mesmerizing ... goosebumps throughout from the time the piano rose up from below the stage and you knew that she was going to walk out from behind stage and play Songbird because all the lights were dimmed, except for the lights on the piano rising up.When she played, the crowd was silent, listening to every note of the entire song. I'll never forget it. Cheers!

Vocal and instrumental talents that were not just the level of many others in your industry, you had the polished talents and abilities of one who had studied and learned music as her craft.

I actually think this song sounds better in concert, live. Saw them numerous times in the 70 to 80's. When CMcV would sings this the whole place would go dead silent. The pureness of her alone in the stadium added a depth of feeling that captivated the crowd and it was almost palpable.
