It would be nice if you showed the different in how much your foot contacts the ground before and after the links.
This was tested WITH the low seat installed on your other video, correct? Did you measure the difference in ground clearance after the install? Helpful vids, thanks for sharing.
Great video!!
Before & after measurement would have been usefull!
You should adjust the forks & chain to set sag to get best ride 👍
thanks for watching.
yes the chain was adjusted, but the front was left high as at the time i was doing a lot of sand riding, and having the front high helps with pushing the front up and out of the sand.
Hi how did you find the handling on the road ? Did you notice any change? Would it be recommended to lower the front also?
🤣feck feck feck feck feck ...we've all been there. Nice save!
Nice.job. Should prob.check rhe torque setting for the link bolts.
Do you think you will need to lower the front as well. Has the geometry of the bike been compromised only lowering the rear?
In theory, yes the front is higher than the rear, and does need to come down, but in reality im still running the factory suspension, meaning I regularly and easily bottom out the forks, so lowering the front will cause issues there.
I don't mind the handling characteristics of the bike as it is. It rides well. I like it.
That was a tough track. Good riding
Thanks 🤘
Well done but ..... did you take before and after measurements to see how much lower it is??
Sure did, was saving this information for a future video, but since you asked -
Yamaha Tenere 700 - 240mm (Factory)
Yamaha Tenere 700 - 215mm (with Koubalink)
@T7 ADVENTURES ok that's clearance but it lowered by 25mm..I used the T3 Koubalink which is 38mm but with a heavier 8.0 kg rear spring I still had 240mm clearance. So now added a shorter spring which dropped by 40mm..
Watch my next video for a detailed review of lowering the T7. Cheers 🍻
What length is the inside seem of your leg?
Standard arms are 145mm centre to centre.
What length is the Kouba link you installed centre to centre?
How much did it lower the bike by?
How much did you drop the front forks through the top tripple clamp?
The lower link impacts the spring rate due to increased leverage (cantilever effect) so did you need to change the spring or stiffen up the settings?
im about 780mm inseam
How has this affected the bike? Are you happy with the outcome?
HEY, THANKS FOR ASKING.
I'm very happy with the drop in height, and have not noticed any adverse effects.
Good information, thank you! DID YOU lower the front as well?
hey, no I didnt lower the fork at all.
How much did you torque the bolts?
Hi. What about vibrations and comfort after change of seat? Do you feel more vibration as you felt before on original seat?
There is less foam in the lower seat, so it’s harder, but I’ve not noticed more vibrations, just that it’s harder and less comfortable. But I just stand up more often on road trips.
I can recomend Touratech comfort seat Low !
860 km only 2 stops for fuel 😃
looks well set up for you ,where did you get the crashbars from and are they heavy compared to others.I like the outback motortek and the touratech just can't decide.cheers
My bars came from outback Motortek directly. not sure about weight, but theyre very strong in comparison to others ive seen.
If you adjust the link you have to adjust the forks mate
Thanks.
Would have been nice with a before/after on the pavement. Remember the fork
What is your height? I am 166cm, will it make a huge different for me with these lowering links?
There are 2 different links available, one 20mm drop and one 35mm drop.
you may need the lower seat also.
You'll need to look into a solution for you personally.
It would've been nice of a before and after pictures. I have a 2021 mt07 that I need to lower. But there isn't any videos on this. This 700 is about as close as I ve found. How much ground clearance did you lose?
All answered for you in this video my man!
ua-cam.com/video/YFJULTS_leI/v-deo.html
on paper my KLR has the exact same seat height as the T7 but sitting on a T7 it felt so much taller i could barley get my tip toes down i still really want one so i think a 2 in lower and the low seat should give me 7in of ground clearance and drop the seat height by 2 3/4in i hope thats enough other option is the KTM 790 but it looks so dumb
Yep that sounds about right. The other thing you can do is refoam the seat to make it narrower.
how much taller the new links or what the distance of bolt center points?
Do you still ride the lowering kit or did you switched back to factory height?
Still running the lowering links. have been riding on them for over a year now and no issues. have only run out of ground clearance on one ride and that was when I was trail riding the T7 in deep mud and ruts on a horrible weather day.
Otherwise, no dramas at all.
Amazing as nobody has the idea to measure the height before and after....
How tall are you bud? I'm thinking I might need these lowering links.
I'm just a bit under 6 foot. Short inseam though. around 700mm
But at the price of them, you should definitely grab a set and try them out. if you don't like them its easy to change back. or just use for occasional rides.
Did you lower the forks to?
No I didn’t. At the time I was riding in a lot of soft sand. So the geometry suited me.
Omg, I love this, thank you for putting this together! I'm in the process of lowering a 2021 t7, so appreciate you sharing your experience
You are so welcome! dont listen to the internet... its your bike. make it work for you.
Good 😊
How much is your inseam height?
78cm I think.
I need the seat more than 22 mm down !
Then get the bigger link and the lower seat
how many centimeters lowered?
25mm
25mm links +20mm seat? Summary 45mm, right?
Ditto
I am sorry but i can not understand why you don't sit on the fricking bike so we can see what difference it is making. I should be commending you for doing this much. So sorry but its driving me crazy. Sorry again.
Don't lower ur motorcycle!! Just grow longer legs!
Oh right. Why didn’t I think of that?
