I just purchased the 800 with the 61” deck and 27hp Briggs engine and it has plenty of power on tap. I did special order a suspension seat which seems to really help a lot. It’s really plush and seems to be faster than the stated 10mph. First thing I’m gonna do is change the oil to Amsoil.

I just got the Ferris ISX 800, 61" with Vanguard motor for personal residential use. So far I love it and expect to put 100 hrs a year on it. I do wish the gas tank was a bit bigger. When greasing the front spindles, manual says to temporary remove bolts, install zerks (sold seperately), grease, then remove zerks and replace bolts. That is an extra hassle, but I guess it prevents broken zerks or leaking grease.

Great to hear! Those front spindles are fine if you do want to leave the zerks in. Especially for personal residential use.

Leave the zerks in. Its some California 'environmental' deal. Escaped grease is the devil.

I own a Ferris 800 with the 27 hp Briggs Commercial motor. I used it all of last year commercially, and put about 250 hours on it. It is s very good machine for the money with a comfortable bump smoothing ride, and plenty of power. I still have my 700 Ferris with the same engine, and 500 hours on it. It is almost the same machine as the 800, with the better front suspension being the biggest advantage of the 800. For the money the 800 is a great machine that holds up well in commercial use. Price, depending deck size and motor selection, dealer discounts, and current rebates runs in the $7000 to $8000 range. By the way the deck is a great cutting deck and discharges the clippings far and well without clumping.

Would you still reccomend the IS700 to someone starting out? I have used my Fathers 800 once and it was very comfortable compared to his old IS1000, I'm looking at a 700 or 800. Only differences I'm aware of are the 3200 vs 3400 hydro on the 800, and the front suspension and bigger casters. I will probably go with the best deal I can get, but would appreciate any input you may have if you happen to read this since you have alot of hours on both. Thanks!

What engine do you recommend on the 800? Do they all come with full suspension seats?
