I have have owned several John Deere ztr and still have one here on the ranch as well as 3 JD tractors. I purchased a Ferris ztr 4 years ago and absolutely love the mower. No comparison in my opinion. Especially as I get older the Ferris is just easy on my back and shoulders.
The Ferris with the springs on each wheel cuts better because it keeps the deck more even and level by it's design, which provides a more even cut, much like the Deere.
How does your Deere do in wet grass? I have a new Z740R 54in and cuts great except wet grass. Changed the blades this week to JD high lifts so see if that makes a difference. Good video man!
Interesting, looks like the JD cut a bit cleaner bit I've seen sharp blades on an inexpensive tractor style mower do that, whatever that means. Good video!
It's funny because I have a john deere z910a 54in deck, I also have a ferris 61 in deck. My john deere cuts way better than the ferris. I think john deere is the most underrated commercial mower. I have a 23hp Kawasaki and just rolled up on 900hrs. Never had an issue except a battery and I've gone through 2 belts. I also shredded a rear tire the tire and the 2 belts i believe both belts and tire prematurely broke and shredded due to cutting to much 4ft grass and tire was used error. But if john deere was able to copy the 4 where suspension I'd have a john deere 60 in as well. Nothing cuts tall grass like a deere or runs as well😂🤣
Look into the new Ferris, is has a C.A.T motor. I think that would would be best. Plus your blade's are where the cut comes into to play in a big way. Only way to have made it fair , they both should have had all new blades on both of the same kind ! Then you would see which is truly better
I bought my z910a 48 new in 2012. 9 years old now with 310 hours and still cuts like it did the first day I brought it home. The 7iron deck is the best money can buy. Only thing that I have ever done to the mower is change the oil and plugs every season, 1 new battery, and I replaced the rear tires a couple months ago. It will last me a long long time. I just bought a Accelerator XL grass catcher, but I haven't used it yet.
@@yrock777 you'll have that John deere for the rest of your life. There great mowers, I'm rolling on 1700hrs and I change the oil sharpen blades I go through a belt every 400hrs I love my z910a I also love my ferris. You'll absolutely love the bagging system for thst
I understand that you were just having fun in the video but why does everyone that has a comparison between mowers have to run it through a field with tall weeds? Of course no mower is going to get all that cut in one pass. It's not what these mower's were designed to do. They were designed to maintain lawns on a weekly or biweekly cuts. I'd do another comparison on a more maintained lawn. I'm a Ferris guy and I've demoed all of the competition out there and nothing comes close to the Ferris Z3X. Comfort first off and then cut quality are hands down the best mower on the market.
My uncle has a ferris but it's a 61 inch sit down zero turn mower... it's good I drove it in all but gotta stick with my john deere! NOTHING RUNS LIKE A DEERE! 😎🤠
I have the 48c deck, in northeast, in dry grass, with my 20 something year old Gt-235, it cuts as good or better than my buddies new scagg with efi, morning dew or wet, it will power through, but deck underneath is nightmare, when I bought the machine, it had the big three engine choices, even the dealer said the briggs was in third , then kohler, then Kawasaki, well after 20 something years of homeowner use, tractor has never been back to dealer for anything and engine is fantastic-vtwin 18, a friend got the comparable new version, x590, and everything seems to have gotten cheaper, the underside of the deck is not even fully painted up to spindles, my 48c had like five full coats of yellow, what happened to that great company?
Why would you want to stand for hrs on that style of mower? I could see on a small area where you have to constantly get off to move crap. Guess I'm too old for that, I love my Toro Titan with My Ride.
I have 2 z3x 37 hp vanguard with 600 hours and i cut grass as tall as 6 ft i have videos and pictures of it that john deere won’t go anywhere near a ferris z3x if you park it in front of it it just chopped into little piece to john deere cuts better hahahaha

Excellent video sir
I have a ferris with a kawasaki 25hp cutting 61in. Love it
I love John Deere and Ferris. Your right about vanguard engines I love Kawasaki engine’s
I tried a Ferris today and I’m going to stick with my John Deere.
Love your vids Raymond

Nothing runs like a Deer, excellent video Sir!!
Yea that was true 25 years ago

Thank you 👍

I love your Jd but man it sure would be nice to have a Ferris like that 😋
Deere 7 iron best cutting deck on the market.
Ferris💪

Each to his own.
I do like my z3 ferris.
The cutting decks were probably on different hights
They were the same height
How can we prove that!

Your comparing a deer 900 m series which is better and more expensive mower. It still left some scragglies in it's path.

Yeah it seems everything has gone cheaper made and yet prices are sky high lol
Glad to hear yours is doing well!
Ferris for comfort and Deere for quality cut. The 7iron is the best cut on the market.
The kawi’s have horrible reliability issues compared to the vanguard motors. Maybe tilt the deck forward. That’s what it says in the deere manual
As far as tall wet heavy grass you can not find a better deck than the 7 Iron
It is by far the best deck on the market for heavy wet grass
The 7 iron give a great cut too...
Velocity plus on a the scag is actually better then the 7 iron
@@pt_parkerbtw8213 no. Not in tall or wet . Not here in Maryland I have both
