If you look closer you can see suchvwomen, there are some of them. Believing that life is wonderful and finding the proof of it every f..in day because of all the beautiful things life shows us. I think people staying outside in the country surrounded from nature and animals have a big sense for it. I am glad I learned luving my life like that with my grandpa by my side as I was a child and teenager. Life hasit's difficulties but don't forget about all the wonderful stuff which happens each and every day. Love it. Dresses hid the ankles! Then the skirts just kept getting shorter. The shins, the knees! Before we knew it women were out and about with their crotch covered but obviously outlined by these separated leg sleeves!

Loved 1883 and the character Elsa Dutton. So well written and Isabel May did a fantastic job bringing her to life. Highly recommend watching it even if Yellowstone doesn't interest you. That being said if you haven't watched Yellowstone, watch 1883 first then get stuck into Yellowstone. Imo you'll appreciate why they fight so hard for the land when you know what was sacrificed and how they even chose the spot 😊

I worked retail years ago and an old woman was in one of the departments yelling at my coworkers that she only wanted skirts and she wouldnt be buying pants to "look like some man like all yous unfit ladies" My coworker in that department should have received a bonus for how kindly she handled that woman.

It's actually not as hot as you'd think. The clothes back then were made of much more breathable fabric and they had all sorts of different ways to make an outfit less insulating in the heat! The fact that linen is no longer widely available and cheap is a crime agaisnt humanity, truly. Plus like, you'd definitely be used to layering up like that

Slightly uncomfortable yes, but definitely not enough to cause medical issues, and it provided support for their bust and helped them to stand up straight. One reason a lot of women fainted was just malnutrition. Before enriched flour was available, malnutrition was a huge problem, for men and for women. A lot of women were also anemic, so they had a lot working against them. It’s something we don’t think about a lot anymore, because in the Western world we have much better access now to nutrient rich food.
I loved this show, absolutely loved it. And sweet Ennis was a jewel of a man. This show is so hard to watch sometimes because it's sad in so many ways.
This has me remembering my high school days, and how (in 1967) there was a student walkout - 3,000 students - to get the administration to allow girls to wear pants (i.e., jeans), which was a success. The '60s!
