Been watching your videos for a few weeks now and I gotta say you have some of the most comprehensive fly tying videos on UA-cam. easy to follow and understand.
That’s a beauty Davie! I received a hard lesson from the Muskegon River trout how they often prefer the pupa. Thx for this great pattern I’ll be adding some to the box
Ray Agius Thanks again Davie.Just started tying flies a few years ago . I like watching you tie flies .Your videos are so clear and you make tying flies so easy with all your detail . I tie quite a few of your flies. Always looking forward to see more of your flies.
Hi Rita Agius, I would just thank you very much for your thanks which does mean a lot to me, I will add you into this months draw that I do on the last day of the month at 7pm UK time and your number is 90 so if your number is drawn I will be in touch... All the very best Davie..
I love Caddis patterns and you tie a very handy variety of them. Do you remember a pattern you tied, it was an Elk Hair Sedge, but you added millipede legs on as the last step. I have looked for it to share with others, but no luck. That little fly was just so effective on Cutthroats!! I couldn't stop catching them!
Thanks so much for this. I really enjoyed your videos of your trips to the Ayr and the Doon. Middle of winter here and those were lovely spots. I've a great mate that's moved back to Scotland (from Tasmania) and I plan to visit. Spent a lazy Sunday morning on Google Earth seeing how far these rivers are from Paisley.
A very fishy looking fly.......reminds me of Dick Walker's longhorn sedge pupa pattern from the 70s I think. Funny, I was only talking about that to someone yesterday.
Hi dongil123, I got your message yesterday about Septembers draw and that you never got your number could you email using any of the emails that I have sent you in the past so that we can sort this out as I am sorry if I missed you for some reason.. All the very best Davie
Gracias por tus atados son exelente y recién empezando a atar me sirven un monto..... esta mosca se pesca tipo emergente o de flote ... osea en drope pero mosca hundida.
Hi Carlos, I love to fish the fly on a cast of two to three flies and this one I like on the top dropper so that it fishes close to the surface...I am glad that you liked the fly.. All the very best Davie
Thanks again Dave. Judt started tying and your channel is so helpful appreciate all the hard work you put in....👍🏻 Im planning a trip up north in july, river fishing for brownies...if it was you what flies would you definitely have in your box? 🏴🎣
Hi. Could I use coq de Leon medium Pardo for the legs instead of Partridge? I bought a whole rooster cape and now am not sure if I’ll ever use it. Would be great to see some flies from you that use it. I fish mainly alpine streams and rivers in Austria so dries and emerges are mainly what I use. Any examples and advice greatly appreciated please.
Hi Sculpin_crusader, I used Veniards fiery brown dye on the grey partridge feathers to get the colour...I'm glad you liked the fly.. All the very best Davie
Love the videos Davie. Do you tie large versions of patterns for putting into frames for display? I saw a beautiful display of patterns in a traveller's cafe in Ireland years ago.
Hi John, I am sorry about the delay in getting back to you..This fly fishes very well on a retrieve as well as static and I love to fish it below a dry especially a cdc bubble caddis as you can pull this pattern and it will pop back up, I have attached a link to the cdc bubble caddis for you to see.. ua-cam.com/video/NkUwJje0484/v-deo.html All the very best Davie
Hi Michael, I had a look for your message and I can't seem to find it so if you can could you send it to me again..I don't have a mallard and claret on UA-cam but I have attached a pattern I love to use that works as well for you to see.. Do you fish this type of fly static or a normal wet fly retrieve ? could you put this on a dropper with a dry sedge pattern on the point ?

@@DavieMcPhail Thanks for taking the time to respond
Is this a quite visible fly on the water, Davie? Thanks
do you have any rubber leg patterns in your collection?
Nice realistic pattern. Two things. Check your FB spam for me. Unless you don’t want to be my friend😢. And I can’t find a Mallard and Claret.
