So I tried this yesterday and it was the quickest high quality tasting meal you could ever cook in your whole entire life. Thanks, Cooking with Dog
Indeed hahahaha!!!
do you cook with cat?
Where could u find the mirin and dashi stock....or is there an alternative to them
@@saswatmohanty8132 I live in Manila where these ingredients are available at the Japanese stores.
With Dashi stock you can use kombu seaweed and katsuoboshi.
Cut a 4in x 4in piece of kombu and place in a liter or water to soak overnight.
Turn on the stove and the kombu should have doubled in size. Before the water starts to boil take the seaweed out. After boiling, turn off the stove and put 1/4th cup of katsuoboshi also called bonito flakes. After soaking for another 15 min., drain the water from the flakes and you have dashi stock. Store in fridge for 2 days or in the freezer for a week.
I'm a 39 year old woman and I am unsure about the quality of my eggs.

I'm 27 years old and I'm not sure the quality of my eggs too hahaaa
Eggs in Japan are very high in quality controlled.

@le Hoarderz Al-Shekelsteins the condition of the chicken affect their eggs because it affects the amount of hormones that are responsible for making the egg. You're smart, right? I didn't have to explain any further.
@le Hoarderz Al-Shekelsteins whatever you say genius.
@le Hoarderz Al-Shekelsteins there is high quality egg, 89$ per box in japan
RIP Francis.. You will be remembered forever.. 😭
have never seen a well obedience cute dog!!! i enjoy your channel very much! Arigato ! Hi there : ) Love Japanese foods make by Japanese chef only!!
NOOOOOO!!!!!!
Ahhh crap I just found this channel today! Godspeed Francis
The soft and silky egg is very delicious! The egg yolk makes it even smoother. You can also top with sansho pepper or shredded nori seaweed to taste. We recommend cooking the rice with slightly less water to enjoy the oyakodon since it will absorb the remaining broth. If you're unsure about the quality of your eggs, please find pasteurized eggs or cook the egg completely. Oyakodon = mother & child. let's make this for mother's day
The reason why it's called that is a lot darker lmao.
@@stealthyshibe4904 what's the reason?
@@Ash-fm6ym The ingredients used in it are eggs and chicken. The chicken is the mother and the egg is the child.

I had stage 3 cancer and when I was going through treatment I had zero immune system and even a mild infection would have killed me. I still ate half cooked scrambled eggs and over easy eggs often (at least a couple times a week) for years and I've never gotten sick. As long as you dont buy very low quality eggs you're safe
母はこのレシピで親子丼を作ってみて、とてもおいしかったです。味は日本に食べた親子丼と同じで、まるで日本にいる感じがあります。そんな素敵なレシピありがとうございます!
My mom just followed this recipe today and it worked out so well. It really tastes like what I have when I go to Japan. Thank you for your awesome recipes!!!!!!!
Oyakodon is literally parent and child, because it has chicken (parent) and egg (child). Why thinking of this makes me so sad? Well at least both are reunited peacefully in our stomach. Itadakimaaaasu!!
Well if you have already been that far. Proceed to think about the egg farming procedure where all the new born male chicken are being ground...alive...
@@hieudoantrung6588 *probably continues chewing unfazed*
Eggs we use for cooking are unfertilized, lol.
There is no embryo in them. These hens never mate with a rooster. Hens naturally lay eggs regularly.
Feel bad for the chicken but not the egg. There is no "child"; it is just the name of the dish.
@@hieudoantrung6588 proof?
if you think the egg is a child you are a moron its more like menstruation.
Chef, even when you make a video of food that I don't like to eat, it still makes me happy to watch you cook. You're just so cheerful.
I just love Francis, Dog, and the narrator. Such a splendid channel depicting authentic Japanese food. Gracias!

This is the cutest thing I've ever watched and that pupper is so well behaved!! Loved your work thank you! Looked yummy!!
I've never really understood why some people feel the need to constantly remind everyone there is raw or half-cooked egg in a recipe? Yes, we understand that in some larger countries like America it can be difficult to get eggs fresh enough to eat raw or that some people don't like the taste/texture of them, but that doesn't mean the same is true in other countries.
Also, please don't 'educate' incorrectly people about raw eggs. A raw egg does not automatically equal salmonella. It's important to educate yourself before trying to tell others what they should or shouldn't do with their lives!
wassamattawityucca I came here for the "raw eggs aren't safe!" comments. XD With that said, I never fell ill from eating raw or half cooked eggs (usually the brown, organic kind).
wassamattawityucca Not to mention, it was stated clearly in the video that if any viewers were wary of eating raw/half-cooked eggs, there were other options. The makers of the video and recipe knew what they are doing.
wassamattawityucca actually salmonella is on the outside of eggs, if you wash them properly their will be no problem, I love eating them raw, never gotten sick from it, neither has anyone in my family, but we wash our eggs, we started keeping chickens just recently but we've been eating raw, store bought eggs long before that, they really are awesome in rice.
Kaleigh H I don't think my comment suggests salmonella comes from inside eggs, but I appreciate the clarification for those who may not have gotten that from my comment!
+wassamattawityucca I agree! If you're that paranoid about raw egg, don't add it right before serving. Plus, cook those eggs added to the chicken a bit longer, just like Francis said.
Das sieht so einfach und lecker aus! Werde ich nächste Woche ausprobieren ☺️
wie cool dich hier zu sehen :D ich liebe deine videos !! ^-^
Deeply thanks for your Chinese subtitle! Very helpful and sweet!

at first i thought my spotify was playing, but i found out turned out she used Minute Waltz by Chopin for the background music :O
I am unsure of the freshness and quality of the eggs we buy but i still eat them raw from time to time in my noodles, I am willing to risk salmonella for flavor
Don't do it Crash!
I made this for my mother's birthday today! It turned out so nicely!! Though I decided to also add carrots and shitake mushrooms. Cooking the rice with a little bit less water also worked out perfectly! Thanks so much for teaching such brilliant dishes!

Rest in peace, Francis 2002-2016
We only used half of your ingredients but we made a tasty oyakodon meal.
Here is how we cooked:
1. Dissolve 6g of dashi powder in half a glass of warm water.
2. Mix one table spoon of mirin with two table spoons of soy sauce.
3. Cut chicken breasts into thin optically transparent slices.
4. Season the chicken slices in soy sauce mirin and dashi.
5. Cook until the chicken slices go white. Add two eggs.
6. Pour the cooked oyakodon on your sticky well cooked japanese sushi rice. The rice must be priced at £8.99 per 4.5kg..
7. Watch videos like 'until dawn' or 'life is strange' on daz games preferably with a friend.
Thank you chef :)
Would it be any different with the chicken breast cut into thicker bits or cubes?
+Kuu Yes breast is less tender than thigh, but healthier. Thin slices are better than cubes as you kind of want a flat shape to evenly top the rice. Good luck!

@@cookingwithdog I did and loved it. Everyone at home enjoyed the meal! Thank you for sharing! :)
@@cookingwithdog Just to confirm, if I were to use 500gm chicken here, I would have to use 20 tsp Soy sauce, 10 tbsp Mirin, etc.. Is that right? Everything you have listed must be increased by the same amount.
