  • This quick and easy delicious Oyakodon is a slightly different version of our previous Oyakodon. The soft and silky egg is very delicious. The egg yolk makes it even smoother.

    • @TheicMoggy
      @TheicMoggy 3 роки тому +6

      @@saswatmohanty8132 I live in Manila where these ingredients are available at the Japanese stores.
      With Dashi stock you can use kombu seaweed and katsuoboshi.
      Cut a 4in x 4in piece of kombu and place in a liter or water to soak overnight.
      Turn on the stove and the kombu should have doubled in size. Before the water starts to boil take the seaweed out. After boiling, turn off the stove and put 1/4th cup of katsuoboshi also called bonito flakes. After soaking for another 15 min., drain the water from the flakes and you have dashi stock. Store in fridge for 2 days or in the freezer for a week.

    I've never really understood why some people feel the need to constantly remind everyone there is raw or half-cooked egg in a recipe? Yes, we understand that in some larger countries like America it can be difficult to get eggs fresh enough to eat raw or that some people don't like the taste/texture of them, but that doesn't mean the same is true in other countries.
    Also, please don't 'educate' incorrectly people about raw eggs. A raw egg does not automatically equal salmonella. It's important to educate yourself before trying to tell others what they should or shouldn't do with their lives!

    • @tadashihatsudai
      @tadashihatsudai 9 років тому +70

      wassamattawityucca I came here for the "raw eggs aren't safe!" comments. XD With that said, I never fell ill from eating raw or half cooked eggs (usually the brown, organic kind).

    • @Bluey306
      @Bluey306 9 років тому +110

      wassamattawityucca Not to mention, it was stated clearly in the video that if any viewers were wary of eating raw/half-cooked eggs, there were other options. The makers of the video and recipe knew what they are doing.

    • @mouhitorinoboku9655
      @mouhitorinoboku9655 9 років тому +49

      wassamattawityucca actually salmonella is on the outside of eggs, if you wash them properly their will be no problem, I love eating them raw, never gotten sick from it, neither has anyone in my family, but we wash our eggs, we started keeping chickens just recently but we've been eating raw, store bought eggs long before that, they really are awesome in rice.

    • @wassamattawityucca
      @wassamattawityucca 9 років тому +23

      Kaleigh H I don't think my comment suggests salmonella comes from inside eggs, but I appreciate the clarification for those who may not have gotten that from my comment!

    • @opwave79
      @opwave79 8 років тому +7

      +wassamattawityucca I agree! If you're that paranoid about raw egg, don't add it right before serving. Plus, cook those eggs added to the chicken a bit longer, just like Francis said.

      Eggs we use for cooking are unfertilized, lol.
      There is no embryo in them. These hens never mate with a rooster. Hens naturally lay eggs regularly.
      Feel bad for the chicken but not the egg. There is no "child"; it is just the name of the dish.

    The soft and silky egg is very delicious! The egg yolk makes it even smoother. You can also top with sansho pepper or shredded nori seaweed to taste. We recommend cooking the rice with slightly less water to enjoy the oyakodon since it will absorb the remaining broth. If you're unsure about the quality of your eggs, please find pasteurized eggs or cook the egg completely. (≧∇≦)/ ふわっとろの卵がとっても美味しいです!卵黄でさらにまろやかです。お好みで粉山椒や刻み海苔を振りかけてください。残っている汁気を吸うので ご飯は固めに炊いたほうが 美味しくいただけます。(*^^*)

    The fact that this dish literally means "parent and child rice bowl" is morbidly funny.

      @@cookingwithdog Just to confirm, if I were to use 500gm chicken here, I would have to use 20 tsp Soy sauce, 10 tbsp Mirin, etc.. Is that right? Everything you have listed must be increased by the same amount.

    We only used half of your ingredients but we made a tasty oyakodon meal.
    Here is how we cooked:
    1. Dissolve 6g of dashi powder in half a glass of warm water.
    2. Mix one table spoon of mirin with two table spoons of soy sauce.
    3. Cut chicken breasts into thin optically transparent slices.
    4. Season the chicken slices in soy sauce mirin and dashi.
    5. Cook until the chicken slices go white. Add two eggs.
    6. Pour the cooked oyakodon on your sticky well cooked japanese sushi rice. The rice must be priced at £8.99 per 4.5kg..
    7. Watch videos like 'until dawn' or 'life is strange' on daz games preferably with a friend.
    Thank you chef :)

      Would it be any different with the chicken breast cut into thicker bits or cubes?

    • @WittyPlus1
      @WittyPlus1 8 років тому +1

      +Kuu Yes breast is less tender than thigh, but healthier. Thin slices are better than cubes as you kind of want a flat shape to evenly top the rice. Good luck!
