About 10; 30 at a metal fence at Valby station. There I was, as a 10-12 year old boy, watching and feeling the trains whizz by, while I dreamed of the places you could travel to. My childhood was horrible and therefore I needed these kinds of dreams. Great that someone made these recordings and saved them.
@@jyw0000 No the S trains and tramways were the only electrified railways in Denmark, part from I think an industrial narrow gauge coal loading railroad and an industrial narrow gauge railroad at some cement plant. And the model railroad exhibition at the central station, you can argue that they are electric trains running for a transport company. The first electric locomotive type in Denmark was the class EA introduced in 1984. The S trains and their electric multiple units were introduced in 1934
I was 9-10 year old boy at this time. Living just across the street by the railway station and were looking at the traffic every day. Loved the MY locomotives and the MZ’s that was the brand new model at this time. Remember talking to my grandfather about these cool machines, but he said: “Nah, the steam locomotives were the real deal!” Generations...😊 Love the sequence where we see the old no longer used steamers parked on a side track. A piece of cultural history, but off cause you can’t save everything...
Københavns Hovedbanegård for at beundre jernbanen. Der summede af liv. Det var dybt imponerende.
Nice, as a Norwegian boy (Oslo) I visited Copenhagen first time the summer of 1969. I noticed a Mercedes Benz W114 pulling into the central Station in Copenhagen early in the video. That was introduced in 1968, so 68-69 seams correct.
The W114/W115 series were built between 1968 and 1976 (the new W123 came). Danish taxis ran several 100.000 km before they were changed back then. The good old days when Mercedes actually built quality made to last. :)
Incredible footage - in the mid 70s I worked in a student job at the central post office with delivering carts with mail to and from the trains at Copenhagen Central Station. Nothing changed from the 60s. These videos make memories come back to me.
Very cool! The Oslo parts are filmed on the Oslo - Ski mainline. On the Oslo portion I believe he starts filming somewhere around Kolbotn. I can clearly say the latter parts are Hauketo and into Oslo. It's so weird to see parts of my old commuter hop into Oslo on film. I recognized a lot of the building but some were quite the surprise as I thought they were more modern additions.
Very good photography and impressively stable transfer. A film record that only improves with age. Thank you. Now if only the dirt could be removed .... but that requires some very expensive equipment. A very interesting 15 minutes
Great camera work from the filmer, but also a great film scan that seems to be stabilized. And i stayed for the music... Good choiche and very relaxing.
All the classic DSB trains of the era. I remember the red S-trains (2nd generation), 05:06, but the brown S-trains were before my time. Also the red express train at 10:52 is special - they were later painted silver and called the silver arrow ("sølvpilen" DSB litra MA).
Really beautiful video. Some of these trains was part of my childhood. Especially the gen 2 S trains. I was lucky enough to ride the last preserved gen 1 S train, before it was put on display at the museum.
Titelpage on film is wrong - NO Helsingør instead NSB Oslo Øst (now Centralstation in Oslo) as end scene - lots of Valby and Dybbelsbro scenes. Late sixties is more correct building of DSB Containerterminal fisrt started late 1968. BUT very nice and well-shot film.
13:03 passing Hauketo station south of Oslo, 13:30 view of the Oslo Fjord from near Nordstrand station, 13:45 The Ulvøya bridge, plays a central role in one of Per Petterson's novels, 14:04 on the left Oslo goods station, which was a very beautiful building now torn down to give place to the expensive business district "Barcode" and the adjacent Opera house, and then 14:17 Oslo Ø (Ø for øst = east, Oslo eastern station, now part of Oslo S (Sentral = central station). The train on the left if probably regional train for Moss, Fredrikstad, Sarpsborg, Halden, or local train for Ski station. With Per Petterson I say: I curse the river of time, and, I refuse.
What great memories this has evoked! I traveled most of those rails in Denmark, Sweden and Norway in the latter half of the ‘60s through to 1975… and even the British Rail ones in the ‘70s!
Brilliant footage, thanks for taking the time to share. The connection from Scandinavia to the UK was so much better then. I'd be a more frequent visitor if the train/ferries were revived. Even the weather was better then 😉
The electric lokomotive is NSB class el 11. Number is from 2078 to 2112, 2145 to 2150 as 41 was build. Five last had only 2 frontwindow and The rest four Windows. They was build from 1951 to 1964. 2150 scraped in 1965 ca. Whitdrawn from 1991 to may 1994. On Flåm railwayline Number 2092, 2098 and 2110 last in service to 1997. Today 2078 is in restauration, 2098 in heritage use and 2107 in heritage use. 2085 is in parts.
DSB changed to colour signals with dwarf shunting signals that year on Copenhagen Central in 1967 and I see the old block posts Red S-trains is also from 1967 or later No steam trains, so maybe 68-69?
💖💝💖 Ohhh these good days, where a house could stay outside for over the night 😁 when a man was a man, and a train, was a train... specially the MY Locomotive..and you could make a 100 dkr. for " free " by helping the neighbors with something..it's sadly over..now..new times...and new trains....( If they works 😬 ) 💐🌹✨💖💝💖✨🌹💐
( ͡⚆ ͜ʖ ͡⚆). Hi there, dear friend! That was fantastic! 💯💯💯☀💜 I really loved it! I enjoyed watching your video today. Thanks for sharing it with us🤩🤩🤩🤩. Wishing you a lovely day, my friend! ◕‿◕
I'm so sorry the commentator before myself had a horrid childhood. thought Scandinavia was one lovely big welfed state. But yes, super camera-work. absolutely addictive. Should be in bed preparing for another day "on the buses "
Priceless footage about an excellent high quality era without the filth of today. Looting freeloading arab, african etc... Time to go back to the mid '50s

Other than the S-tog, did DSB not electrify it’s railways back then?
That's hard reading, Haldorgad. I hope very much things got better for you as you grew up.

A trip down memory lane. Wonderful 😢🎉
They were only ever used on one route, that fro Holte to Hillerød, but were declassified in 1972.
It makes me sad. Wish i could go back in time. I wasnt even born then. Im from 77. Still i miss the way copenhagen once was. Been here my whole life.

15mins of pure joy, I am so happy you have posted this, magical

Absolutely excellent short film, Tremendous! Thanks for putting it up. What a wonderful time it was to be alive, I'm so glad I didn't miss it.

Pure railway poetry❤

2. generation S-trains is 1967-73, so late 60´s
Outstanding show. Thanks for posting.

The country,the trains,the epoch and for me,very essential : The Music.Great Work,thanks for all.

I am speechless. What a treasure!
S-train with 1. class was introduced in 1968. This film is from 1968 or 1969.
What great memories this has evoked! I traveled most of those rails in Denmark, Sweden and Norway in the latter half of the ‘60s through to 1975… and even the British Rail ones in the ‘70s!
Ty for a nice video its intering to see how trains and railways looked back when my parents were kids
Nice footage. The year is at the earliest 1967, more likely 1968 or 1969. And the last few minutes are from Norway.
With 1. class i S-train, 1967 is not possible.
Brilliant footage, thanks for taking the time to share. The connection from Scandinavia to the UK was so much better then. I'd be a more frequent visitor if the train/ferries were revived. Even the weather was better then 😉
At 1:03 continental freight wagons were seen lined up. On one occasion I saw an SJ Hbfs standing there.
At 13:15, we reach Hauketo station before Oslo. Sadly, today that great view across the valley is obscured by trees.
What is the music in this documentary? It is wonderful!
Thank you. Rewinding to ones youth.
Beautiful video... Thanks for sharing. BR, Per (Bornholm)
The red "S-Train" in Copenhagen started service in 1967.
Yes and specificaly the red S trains with only 2 doors along the side in some shots started in 1968 .
Fantastic film!. The last two minutes looks like Norway.
It is! :) From around Ljan to Oslo Ø :)
What a fantastic film, thank you!
Super Video!!! Ich habe das noch gesehen 👍
Would be nice to get Esbjerg-Harwich again.
1:31 The DSB MY 1101. First of its class.

Red S-trains is also from 1967 or later
No steam trains, so maybe 68-69?
The main entrance to the Hovedbanegården i Copenhagen looks almost the same today
Wonderful video👍🏻 the number of MZ locomotives - very likely 1969 (can’t be 67, maybe early fall 68 - but unlikely)
and the first container terminal opened around 1970
Lovely silent music... What is it???

Europe before occupation. Amazing.
No the ocopation were 1940-1945.
S (II) Class steam locomotive at 09:27 looks like 732 which was scrapped in 1970
Super ! Wow
No graffiti on the trains! What was wrong with people back then? Didn't they know you're supposed to vandalize these things?
Between 1968 and 1972 as we a 2nd generation S-tog made up of a Litra MM and a Litra AS.
It is not from the 60s. It must be around start 70s as last steam train was may 1970.

Very nice, like ...

Music name?
Hello - Music - 'Beautiful Healing' by MPmedia Pond5.com - now in content
Early 70s rather, as can be seen from clothes, mopeds, locos, rolling stock etc.
Skøn film 👍👍👍👍
