In my experience, I had to accommodate my feelings after my technique is polished, otherwise that doesn't work.

The audience needs a little space to decide how to feel about or process what they're seeing and hearing, and the performer needs to let them have that.
If you don't give them that space, then all they might do is think, "wow, that sure is a deep-feeling person," but they won't actually feel anything themselves.

If they want to sing for an audience then they need to consider the audience. Otherwise they can sing at home for themselves!
