  • What is a Bunionette aka a Tailor's Bunion?
Like the classic Bunion at the first big toe joint, the tailor's bunion involves another joint or more particular, the fifth metatarsal head located at the outside of the forefoot. The name 'tailor's bunion' is from the days before the sewing machine when tailors would sit for hours in a seated position on the floor with their legs crossed and outsides of their feet pressed against their shoes and the floor. Some people also have a genetic enlargement of the metatarsal head as well as the entire bone leaning outward to complicate matters.
