A bone spur is a “bump” or corner of bone that causes either direct or indirect pain. Bone spurs develop along the edge of the bones, usually where the bones meet at the joint. Because the foot has 30 joints, it is one of the most common areas for bone spurs to develop. More specifically, bone spurs typically develop on the bottom of the heel, on top of the foot, outside of the foot, inside of the foot, and on the toes. Pain can range from dull to sharp depending on the level of irritation and compression of the nerves being pressed between the bone spur and enclosed shoes.

I just went to see a podiatrist & he was so angry when ai asked him how spurs developed.
You are so sweet & professional, a trait not all docs possess, ‘cause they forget they’re just human & not GOD.
Stay humble & grounded & sweet.
    Thanks for the professional explanation.

So refreshing to see someone see value these explanations as well. Many comments, very few thank yous and complements... Otherwise, it's all a part of the oath we took.

I think I have a bone spur on top of my right foot. It feels like a bony lump and causes intermittent pain, sometimes resulting in me limping. I do a lot of walking in my job (postman) which obviously isn’t helping. In fact it’s probably my job that has caused it. I definitely need to see a doctor soon.

I have one on the side of my left foot. I never noticed it before until I got into adulthood. I’m wondering now if it was from running cross country and track when I was in school. It doesn’t hurt yet, it’s just feels weird. Thanks for the vid, you helped me realize why I have it.

Wow I was trying to find out how a bone spur would effect Robert Gasser who is a young STAR pitcher for the Brewers who was held back at the last second of spring training with a bone spur in his throwing elbow. So I tried to find out the modern fix for such an issue and to find out from a guy like you how this will effect him as a long term pitching prospect . Can you answer that for me . Robert Gasser has a bone spur in his throwing elbow. I would love to hear what your take on why the Brewers sidelined him because they discovered it but then did 0 to actually remove it and say they are not planning on surgery . So how does this actually work? What will Gasser lose on his pitches because of the spur?

Hi, I think I have one in my talus bone as when I walk forward my foot can’t dorsi flex without pain. Sharp pain on the inside of the ankle. When I do a certain exercise it halts the pain for a while.
What is the best way to see a bone spur? X-ray , MRI or a ct scan ? I need to get this looked at .

Yes, I would have an x-ray and an MRI both. Inside ankle pain can be internal joint damage on the tibia or talus, but you could have issues with your posterior tibial tendon as well.
