When I was a kid, I would put this on every Christmas. It's my childhood and I'll always adore the humor and Will Ferrell's performance.
This movie was my family’s putting up the Christmas tree movie lmao
on my UA-cam channel, i do food reviews while I’m super high😅
I first watched this movie as a kid when my elementary school was doing a christmas pajama day 😂👍🏻
@@julieta8683 pajama days at school especially for Christmas. The best!
Meeee too my fav movie it was my childhood
Elf is one of those Christmas films that I’ll never get tired of because it never ceases to make me laugh hysterically, lol!
Me too.
Will Ferrel said that while running through the streets of New York hysterically, he thought this project would be the end of his career. Little did he know, this would be one of the big peaks of it!
Also when eating the spaghetti/candy/syrup cuisine, it was shot twice, as Will ended up throwing up.
The man who plays Papa Elf is legendary comedian Bob NEWHART who is most famous for his two shows in the 70’s and 80’s and Jon Favreau who directed it also did the Iron Man films and plays Happy and is the doctor in this film.
Also the whole North Pole set and look is paying homage to the Rankin Bass specials of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Santa Claus is Coming to Town.
You know James Caan from Misery.
Also RIP to Ed Asner who is Santa Claus
Since the actual department store was closed by this time they actually filmed it in an abandoned insane asylum.
The sad thing is James Caan passed away few months ago.
@@nathancruz9172 I know.
And James Caan was also in The Godfather. RIP to him, BTW.
Also, Mr. Narwhal’s voice was done by Jon Favreau, too.
And that same Mental hospital was also used in fellow New Line Cinema movie Freddy vs. Jason.
Will Ferrell actually was scared of the jack in the boxes. His reactions are genuine.
The one that delays like marks that it doesn’t work than POP always make me laugh 😂
This is the kind of Christmas film that I love to watch whenever I want to have a good laugh. It’s just constantly hilarious. Will Ferrell dressed as an elf and running through NYC is so fun to watch. This isn’t the kind of film for everyone, but I have a lot of fun watching it every year.
This film cannot be missing on these dates and it made Will Ferrell become one of my favorite actors in comedy by the way he did a Christmas musical with Ryan Reynolds for Apple TV.
7:05 The guy crossing the street that Buddy mistook for Santa was just a random guy crossing the street who had no idea that he was being filmed as part of the movie. Plus, Will Ferrell's brother Patrick is one of the security guards.
THE G.O.A.T Christmas films from the 2000s era!!
Will Ferrell always hits it right with these kinds of movies to me
Me too.
Fun Fact: Ming Ming the elf is played by the same actor that played as Ralphie in A Christmas Story.
For those who don’t know who that is it’s the elf that tells buddy he’s special and reveals to him he’s a human
@@iswiftyfox8997 thanks for helping me explain it more
"you stink" , "you smell like beef and cheese, you don't smell like Santa"😂😂😂 Blades of glory is another funny Will Ferrell movie👍🏼
*What's your favorite holiday film?!?*
It's a Wonderful Life
Home alone
The Santa Clause
Home Alone franchise and Jingle All The Way
Use to be How the Grinch stole Christmas but it's this now.
Right before the scene where Caan yells at Ferrell, the director whispered in James' ear, "You're Sonny f***ing Corleone."
And that reminder sparked that piece of gold of a take.
I love this film so much, Will Ferrell is the perfect choice as Buddy and this has great comedy!
Loved the reaction Timothee!
Thanks for watching
Me too.
It is so fascinating how they used forced perspective to make Buddy bigger than the elves.
It’s the same trick they used for shots in Lord Of The Rings. The hobbits were supposed to only be 3ft tall compared to the other characters. So they shot the film in the same way they filmed this movie to make the hobbits seem smaller.
“SANTA!!” Buddy yells.
This is a classic of the 2000s that fits in with the library of other Christmas films. I’d say right next to Jim Carrey’s Grinch and The Polar Express!
Fun Fact: The man in the red jumpsuit that Buddy mistakes for Santa was not an actor. It was a normal person walking down NYC.
I always thought the phone convo Deb was having about declawing the kittens was weird too! 😳 Is she in veterinary school and just working as a secretary in the mean time? It's never explained. Also, I was watching the movie on cable TV recently, and they cut most of the convo out. Probably because declawing is now regarded as the very inhumane practice that it is, compared to back in 2003.
Edit: Things Santa and Papa Elf Didn't Bother Explaining to Buddy about The Real World/NYC, A Comprehensive List: Cars, taxis and traffic in general, elevators, escalators, lingerie, alcohol, Santa impersonators, bathroom privacy, needles, cotton balls, felonies, how normal people eat, and little people that are not elves. My man was not ready! 😬
Easily one of the funniest Christmas Comedies and no doubt my introduction to Will Ferrell, the late James Cann, Zoey Deschanel, Mary Steenburgen (who I Became more familiar with her through her appearance in The Proposal), Bob Newhart, the late Ed Asner and Peter Dinklage. Not to mention this film was Jon Favreau's starmaking role as a Filmmaker before he became synonymous with his directorial work on _Iron Man 1-2,_ the 2016 _Jungle Book_ film, the 2019 _Lion King_ film and _The Mandalorian_
Even it's worth noting that this was the 2nd time Ed Asner portrayed Santa Claus cause 3-5 years ago he portrayed (albeit voiced) Santa in _Olive, the Other Reindeer_ and 8-13 years later, Ed Asner portrayed Santa for the third time in the _Regular Show_ Christmas episode and returned to reprise his role as Santa in _Elf: Buddy's Musical Christmas._ On top of that, next year would be the film's 20th Anniversary, so I'm amazed how time flies so fast.
Elf is one of the best Christmas movies out there. Will Ferrell at his best performance.
Elf is a gem of a movie in the early 21st of century. No caps.
Elf literally premiered when I was in my preteen years, and Will Ferrell's naivete behind Buddy is hysterically funny and precious, it's probably why it has grown as another holiday classic for me.
And Tim's pose in the thumbnail? You can just see the joyfulness and "child-at-heart" nature in him; it never fails to crack smiles on me! 😁
I was looking up a simple recipe for spaghetti sauce yesterday and no joke, it actually called for some maple syrup.
All the scenes where it's supposed to show off how big he is in the north pole is just some clever camera work.
When it look like he's sitting next to everyone, he's actually sitting close to the wall, and the set was made just so that when the camera faces it a certain way, it looks like it does.
Buddy would probably think Nightmare Before Christmas is the scariest movie ever
I really love this film plus that Santa Oh Ny Godh line is a line I say repeatedly during the Christmas season
Ralphie from A Christmas Story was in this too as an elf!!
I love this movie all the time of course will is incredible as buddy the elf
This is one of my favourite Christmas films.
I can only imagine how many stomach aches Will Ferrell got after eating so much of the sugar-covered food.
He said the spaghetti with pop tarts and stuff was pretty rough
@@JohnSmith-wh2ob Oh wow
The GOAT of all Christmas movies!!!
The elf that tells Buddy he isn’t a “cotton headed ninny muggins” is Ralphie from A Christmas Story.
Wtaching Elf is a Christmas tradition in my house!
One of the elves played as the lead character in the movie A Christmas Story, he was the you'll shoot your eye out kid
This is one of two performances of Will Ferrell that I enjoy. The other is in the 2005 musical version of Mel Brooks' The Producers.
If I meet Will Ferrell and Peter Dinklage at a Con, I will pay money to reenact that fight scene in front of everyone.
I really can't with this movie🤣🤣🤣 and that guy from Misery too have to endure another madness😆😆
I love the shoutouts to the original Rankin And Bass Christmas shows.
A recent poll rated "Elf" and "Home Alone" as the most popular Christmas movies of 2021 (or 2022).
32:54 I’m glad Walter got himself a new job.
SANTA!! OH MY GODDDD, I KNOW HIM!!😂😂😂 I LITERALLY have that as a Christmas shirt and it’s my FAVORITE Christmas movie/shirt!! 😊🥰🩷🎄🤩
Yay! Love your channel and videos 💕💕
Thank you so much!
This movie gives me so much second-hand embarrassment, but I love it anyway.
Will Ferrell actually got sick from all the sugar he ingested (and the lack of sleep). That's dedication like very few people have!
From the man himself:
“I ingested a lot of sugar in this movie and I didn’t get a lot of sleep. I constantly stayed up. But anything for the movie, I’m there. If it takes eating a lot of maple syrup, then I will-if that’s what the job calls for.”
This movie was so funny fun fact the scene when Buddy thought the man in the red was Santa was not a actor but a random guy in red
I Love This Film So Much
So is my mom.
You just watched one of my all time favorite comedies of the 2000s
This is one of the best and the funniest Christmas movie ever. I can never get tired of watching this movie for real.
Santa the late(Ed Asner) was in UP and is related to the Governor of California Gavin Newsom. The actress who plays James Caan’s (Rollerball,The Godfather) wife has a terrific role in the HG Wells film Time After Time a MUST review! The Secretary (Amy Sedaris) is HILARIOUS in the tv series/ movie Strangers with Candy. The narrator Bob Newhart is a famous Emmy winning tv actor. ELF is a classic!
This is hands down my favorite Christmas movie of all time my family watches it every year on Christmas Day it brings back so many memories of my childhood thank you for reacting to this classic
I love Elf!
Excited to see Tim react to more Christmas films next year, i.e.:
- The Santa Clause trilogy
- Arthur Christmas
- The Christmas Chronicles 1&2
- Christmas with the Kranks
- Violent Night, etc
Oh wow, the doctor that tells him that Buddy is his son is Happy from the Marvel series.
No shit. It’s Jon Favreau. He also directed this movie too.
Elf is great! Will Ferrell is hilarious! He can be hit or miss sometimes, but I love him in this! I also love the soundtrack in this. I loved it the first time I watched it and its been on my Christmas movie rotation since then.
Love Christmas! Time to step outside in the cold air again and smoke up! Keep up the awesome reactions Tim! 👍
Buddy's elf boss in red is Ralphie from A Christmas Story
Creates a Christmas classic, kickstarts the MCU, revives Star Wars popularity, Jon Favreau has been a legendary filmmaking genius.
The elf who told Buddy that he was special was played by Peter Billingsley, who played Ralphie in A Christmas Story.
SANTA OH MY GOD !!!!!!
I don’t know why I used to despise this film when I hadn’t watched it yet now it’s one of my favourite Christmas films
I agree
What’s sad is that the guy who plays Santa is the same guy who plays Carl Frederickson aka the old man from up.He died on 29th of august 2021
You should watch the movie Twas the Night. As a child, it was my favorite Christmas movie. Also, Unaccompanied Minors is another amazing holiday movie.
25:18 My Favorite Part
Oh!! No greenscreen was used, they did forced perspective! Like Buddy would stand closer to the camera and there were differently sized props on set to make it blend together-
they should've just wrapped the book with something that said it was some sort of "use your imagination" "draw your own pages" type book..kids will for sure notice 2 blank or missing pages..they aren't going to do anything about it though..
All due respect to Tim, but how has he gone this long without ever seeing Elf? 😂 True classic
Rip James Cann and Ed Asner
Will Ferrell is excellent in Stranger Than Fiction.
You gotta see James Caan in the TV show, "Las Vegas"
I love that show
Another sweet movie that is also a fish out of water comedy is Blast from the Past. Don't know if you have already seen it, but if you haven't, you should watch it, it's really good.
especially santa claus is comin to town
I love Elf so much❤❤!Its my favorite movie ever seen✨!keep uploading👍🏼!you are awesome🎉!Hope you have Amazing day💕!and Merry Christmas🎄🎁☃️❄️!Love you TimotheeReacts❤🤙!
I really like this movie Elf and it is really so fun to watch and it is so funny man. The very first time I started watching the movie Elf was when it came out on DVD and the very first time I started watching this movie I started laughing and cracking up. I really enjoyed this movie a lot. And this movie was first released 19 years ago in theaters.
24:57 great movies
22:07 - 22:50 I love this reaction in this scene of movie 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Awwwwww tim i love elf so much
A CHRISTMAS CLASSIC!
I love Elf. I like how the fid what i call the Back to the Future bit with thinking the name on diapers or underwear is the person's name
Buddy’s got more rizz than most people I know (including myself).
Antarctica 😂 you mean the North Pole! That was great!!
I ❤this movie SO MUCH, I’m literally wearing an Elf T-shirt right now 😂, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Tim!! 🥰🎄🎁🎉
And I really love all of your reactions. And you are a lot of fun to watch a lot of movies with.
Limitless takes place in New York and has businesses men in it
James Caan actually is playing the piano at the end! He was just goofing around with it, and they decided to put it in the film.
One of my favorite Christmas movies ever ❤❤
Man another classic lol it’s crazy I thought about this the other day as one the Christmas movies I was gonna watch on Christmas lol but aye I love Tim 🤷🏾♂️lol had to watch it with u my guy
This movie really is funny and brilliant.
Very begining of the video:
Me: one of the very few scenes that I remember of the film
In case you didn't know James Caan passed away on july 6 this year. RIP JAMES CAAN, I also recomend you to watch THE GODFATHER (1972) , it stars Marlon Brando , Al Pacino, And James Caan. Is Caan's greatest performance.
Zoey was 21 & Will was 35, Hollyweird
SANTA!!!! OH MY GOD!!!
17:43 JOHN CENA
Elf is one of my fav Xmas movies 🥰🥰
Thanks, Timothée! 📯 #TimotheeReacts #JonFavreau #Elf
Will is another Xmas movie with Ryan Reynolds called spirited and it’s a musical on Apple TV
Shout out to Ed Asner
You Should React To Couples Retreat!
i love this
If you're ever curious to see Will Ferrell in a more serious role, PLEASE try out Stranger Than Fiction.
You will not BELIEVE how good he is in it.
