Jaby you gotttaa relax bro 😭🤦🏽♂️ suspend your neurodivergent disbelief for an hour and a half and just fuckin TRY and enjoy a movie about an elf that goes to New York hahaha this man was STRUGGLING through this one. How does one walk through life and enjoy the simple shit, when you’re constantly putting everything under a microscope?!?! 😭
I can tell Jaby was struggling with this one because he is so logical and thinks about realism always. And always has trouble with movies just being movies without much realism to them.
Love Jaby and his channel, but for this one l stopped watching after 10 minutes ish . I was getting bored. they were taking this movie way too seriously imo . Anyways I still wish them the best
James Caan's wife is Mary Steenburgen. She's affectionately known as America's mom because she plays a lot of mom roles. She and Ted Danson have been married for over 25 years.
If someone didn’t mention it already, the head elf that asks Buddy about his toy quota was played by Peter Billingsley, who was also the lead - Ralphie - in the classic “A Christmas Story” (“You’ll shoot your eye out, kid”)
It is interesting that not many people do pick up on that when they watch this movie. The thing is that he looks exactly the same as when he was a kid. That same look of the eyes. I like the other movie he was in a couple years before A Chrsitmas Story called 'Death Valley'.I grew up in the 80's watching that film. It usually was shown on weekend basic cable channels. Had Wilford Brimley in it as well.
JABY, just… No. No matter how much you want Larry David to be the father in this movie, the whole cast was perfect and a testament to why this is a revered Christmas classic.
Zooey Deschanel has a beautiful singing voice & is 1/2 of the musical duo She & Him. She also sang a duet (“On the Island”) with the legendary Brian Wilson on his album No Pier Pressure. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/She_&_Him
I saw this in the theater and it was hilarious - last showing on a school night and nobody else around - No hesitation to just GUFFAW to my heart's content. It's amazing how some people can't suspend their critical disbelief even in the middle of a SANTA CLAUS MOVIE!!
Man. Will Ferrell’s line delivery is just perfect. “I like to whisper too.” “No, it’s not.” “Francisco.” “Buddy the elf, what’s your favorite color.” And him eating the cotton balls. So many great lines and moments. He just nails the character so much 😂
This reaction would have been so much better without the dude doing his best “Scrooge” impersonating. No idea why he’s still a part of this channel imo 👀
We definitely needed James khan in this movie, anyone else would of seemed fake, you want someone to be more like will ferrel dad then watch daddy’s home 2
I love watching Will Ferrell do his gangly, clueless shtick, and even here, there's something inherently funny about just seeing him in a big, green elf suit. There's something inherently funny about Ferrell -- period.
Will Farrell said that at the premiere James Caan came up to him and said that during the shooting he thought Will Farrells acting was too over the top, so he thought it would be a flop, but after watching it at the premiere he finally got what he was going for. So maybe Caans energy was down cuz he thought he was in a crappy movie
Having recently been diagnosed as autistic, I'm seeing this movie in a completely different light now. And boy does it rub me the wrong way when Jaby says that Jovie can do better and can't be that desperate. Even though Buddy isn't meant to be autistic, there are a LOT of parallels, and that comment feels like there's a bit of internalized ableism there.
How does Die Hard qualify as a Christmas movie in the first place, much less a favorite Christmas movie?!?! That is very surprising! Not the endearing nostalgia of A Christmas Story or the life lessons of It's A Wonderful Life or even a timeless classic like A Christmas Carol or something unique like The Ref. No, Die Hard, which has what to do with Christmas, exactly??
There's A LOT that makes "Die Hard" a Christmas movie. First, the score of the film samples Christmas classics like "Winter Wonderland" and "Ode to Joy" but at a lower pitch and slowed down to fit the tone of the movie. Moreoever, when the limo driver is pulling up to the protagonist's destination, we're offered meta, self-aware dialogue that reflects the film's intention. At this point, some people in the audience (someone like you) might be thinking "Why did you make me watch this, we should've seen a Christmas movie" to which the people that brought them likely said "This IS a Christmas movie." This sentiment is reflected in the dialogue as the limo driver plays Hip-Hop music. The protagonist John McClane says "don't you have any Christmas music?" and the driver responds "this IS Christmas music!" as Run-DMC starts rapping about running into Santa Claus. The most notable criteria for determining a Christmas movie is that 1) it NEEDS to take place during Christmas, 2) Christmas HAS to be necessary to the plot, that is, the story couldn't happen at any other time, 3) Something Christmas-related has to be a part of the main character's motivation, and most importantly 4) the movie has to have the intention of being a Christmas movie. Number 4 I've already explained. But I go further... The movie uses character dialogue to clarify its intentions as a nontraditional Christmas movie. Plus, the score highlights these intentions by using timeless songs typically played during Christmastime. There's a blend of these as the cop Powell (played by Reginald ValJonhson, aka Mr. Winslow, lol) is leaving the building after his preliminary check. After he radios that there's no trouble, he sings a Christmas classic which serves a metaphor for the turmoil of the plot. The cop sings "Let It Snow!" about a blizzard forcing people to stay indoors (highlighting the hostage situation), but the metaphor extends to not only the dead body that falls (like snow falls) on his squad car RIGHT as he's singing it, but also the blizzard of bullets that follows as he tries to escape. Number 1 is obvious, the film takes place on Christmas Eve and early Christmas morning. For number 2, the pirates couldn't have possibly executed their plan at any other time because there are other companies at that building. There'd be no other time except an office Christmas party to hold the target company hostage considering almost no one else would be there. This is why they go floor to floor checking if there are any stragglers or late workers or parties/people left in the building, and group them all together or kill them like they did with security and maintenance. 3) This one ties into the first, the main character wouldn't be in the building, or even in town if not to meet his estranged wife whom he came to visit for Christmas (and his kids, ofc). Along these lines, throw in every one-liner or witty comment the protagonist makes (albeit to himself most of the time) are related to Christmastime: "Welcome to the party, pal!" (which incidently happens after the dead body "snows" on the cop car (bc the protagonist dropped him)... or when the protagonist puts a Santa hat on the first dead pirate and writes "ho ho ho" with the dude's blood...and the one that EXPLICITLY summarizes the main character's initial intentions: "Come out to the coast...we'll have a few laughs" obviously mocking how his estranged wife convinced him to come over for the holidays. These are the main reasons "Die Hard" is so highly regarded not just as a "Christmas movie" but a technically sound masterpiece. The film does without the cliché, touchy-feely, "everything is awesome" Christmas vibe because, to quote the show "Friends" --> "even though it's Christmas, people still die." Christmastime is full of laughter and cheer and all kinds of nice stuff for SOME people. The fact that it's Christmas doesn't stop wars (maybe a truce, but you're still stuck on the battlefield with deplorable conditions all around you). And Christmas doesn't magically heal all the people in hospitals, nor does it (and now this is the point the movie's trying to make) stop anyone who wants to do harm from doing so.
If you haven't seen the movie "Chef" with Jon Favreau, watch it. You won't be disappointed. It's his passion project. You can tell he put a lot of love into it.
Jaby''s convinced me. They need to do this exact same story with Will Ferrel as an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm. I just feel like "Character" Larry would have so much fun with this. I don't know what you'd call it, but it needs to be made immediately. Also suggesting THE REF with Kevin Spacey and Dennis Leary for next year. My personal favorite Christmas movie, and easily one of the most underrated.
The Ref. Yes! Abso-freakin-lutely! I don't get why no one watches The Ref. Maybe next year. So many of the reactors watch the same movie within a few weeks of each other, like this year several of them suddenly pulled out Trading Places from out of nowhere. And that has zero to do with Christmas, unlike The Ref.
Obviously, nothing with Kevin Spacey is going to age particularly well. And it's not that well-known, so I get why we don't see more reactions to it. It's just too bad bc it's SO GODDAMN FUNNY.
Jaby you gotttaa relax bro 😭🤦🏽♂️ suspend your neurodivergent disbelief for an hour and a half and just fuckin TRY and enjoy a movie about an elf that goes to New York hahaha this man was STRUGGLING through this one.

Playing a character with childlike innocence taking everything said quite literally is always hilarious with good writing.
I can tell Jaby was struggling with this one because he is so logical and thinks about realism always. And always has trouble with movies just being movies without much realism to them.
Yeah, he kinda seems like a drag to watch movies with.
@@goldenageofdinosaurs7192people like us are a drag to watch dumb or bad movies with xD

Yeah this confirms it..I'm not reacting to any comedy that jaby's reacting too ever again.
why?
Will was very invested in the role he improved many of the lines and drove James insane with prolonging scene
JABY, just… No. No matter how much you want Larry David to be the father in this movie, the whole cast was perfect and a testament to why this is a revered Christmas classic.

@@VeritasMCMXCIIhe ruins every reaction, every other reactor on this channel looks so uncomfortable around him and I don’t blame them
Ferrell is enough energy all by himself. Everyone else is playing the straight man in contrast.
I liked the way James cann was on the film
Bob Newhart's monologues are brilliant
Driving Instructor
Defusing a bomb
Are classics 😊😊😊😊
As if these people have ANY IDEA who Bob Newhart is and how hilarious he was.
This is was my first Will Ferrel movie. Then Step Brothers was my second so I got a big 180 on the kinda actor he was.

I wonder what would happen in real life if someone actually went inside a coffee shop in New York and said that line. It would be so funny 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
And you can see James Caan turn around and start laughing when Will Ferrell got pricked on the finger and had his reaction. Lol
Jaby is Grinch of all times
Yeah same here.
I think they wanted to be the opposite of Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer Movie. They wanted to be nicer to him instead of mean and bully him.
Consider checking out the 1995 classic 'While You Were Sleeping' with Sandra Bullock, please. Very sweet rom-com that takes place over the holidays. 🧡
Lmao
Good God Jaby, give this reactions to someone who will enjoy it and knows how to have fun, what a Grinch.
Why does everyone have such strong negative impressions of Zooey Deschanel? I thought she was a fine actor and cute looking.

@@dylanschoon9371 Same! Haha, and the elevator scene! And the mailroom! Oh my gosh! It’s so good. 🤣
I always wonder if this movie was written for Will Ferrell because no one could've done the role of Buddy as great as he did.

If you guys like Will Farrell then I recommend watching a Christmas movie called “Spirited” that Will is in and produced. A spinoff to a Xmas Carroll

Workplaces that employ people who have to wear costumes do have locker rooms, with showers.
Interesting
Bob Newhart's always been sedated. He's one of my favorite comedians.
Can I see Kristen and your brother Matt do a Movie Reaction together. LOL! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fun Fact: Jon Favreau is the voice of the narwhal that says “Bye Buddy, hope you find your dad.”🤣
Really? I didn’t know that! That’s funny.
I had no idea. That’s crazy!
Maybe James cann's character was meant to be like that he was written that way
Thanks for your movie review. It was fun. HALEY's reaction was so cute and sweet!! Happy holidays. Keep smiling 🙂 👍

Actors famously use coffee for energy and definitely not coke lol. For sure coffee
Don't nock it tell you try it. Hears one syrup on scrambled eggs. It's actually good.
Oh, man. I love syrup with scrambled eggs and bacon. I don’t pour it on them, just kinda scoop up what runs off my pancakes. It’s so good 😋
