(which he is) but they write it off before it concludes showing him realizing he was and changing. Some people definitely get it, not to promote anyone else on this mans page but check out "James vs Cinemas" reaction to it. He is a filmmaker and really comments on a lot of the amazing filmmaking.
Fun fact about the package throwing away scene: It wasn't CGI! The director actually had him throw it into the trash can. If you track down the outtakes, it shows you how many times it took him to get it in there.
Part of the humor that's never explained in the film but is in the original comic is that the people all have video game lives in this. When they 'die' they wind up back at home as a restart. haha Also, the ninja evil exe Roxie is played by Mae Witman, who is also the voice of Katara in Avatar the Last Airbender.
This movie is an absolute MASTERPIECE and Edgar Wright was the perfect choice. He always uses editing as a storytelling device and visually his movies are so dynamic. Glad you enjoyed it.

So many future silver screen super heroes in this movie: Chris Evans and Brie Larson, but also Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Ramona Flowers) was Huntress in Birds of Prey, Brandon Routh (Todd, the one with psychic powers) played Superman in Superman Returns, Thomas Jane (one of the Vegan Police) was the big screen version of The Punisher.
That's why he wins with the power of self-confidence. He doesn't have any at the start, so he projects his insecurities and acts like a jerk. He dates Knives because she thinks he's a lot cooler than he is, then tries to make Ramona his manic pixie dream girl, only to act surprised when it turns out she's not perfect. So when he says the band sounds better without him and sincerely apologizes to the girls, it actually shows growth on his part.
@@brewdaly1873 Yep that's a good point. Scott is awful for most of the movie but he does grow before his fight with Gideon. If that's the case maybe he undersands his flaws and is able to make peace with Nega-Scott. I like that.
God, I loved Scott Pilgrim when I first read it in high school. Wallace was (and still is) my favorite and I just really love how fun the story was! Nice to see that people still like the movie!
Chris Evans and I crossed paths a couple times in high school. We grew up in neighboring towns and the high school theater community in the Boston Metrowest area was kind of like a small town in the mid-late 90s. Good dude back then. Haven’t seen him since I moved away.
Todd is waaaaaay worse in the books than he is here. That whole thing about punching a hole in the moon for Ramona? He does that with every girl he goes out with. And envy is actually one of Scott's evil exes, and has to fight Ramona. And Roxys weakness in the movie is Envys in the book.
There are so many details in this movie, so it's always a treat to watch it again and again to find new things - some are more obvious than the others too. Just to name a few for anyone who has missed any: There's a lot of X's everywhere (road signs and so on). While walking to the party, there's a store in the background. If I remember correctly it's a traveling agency and it has a neon sign saying something about "Flight". The light on the L is broken though so it says "Fight".... When Scott and Ramona are fighting after the 4th battle, his shirt say 4½. During the Battle of the Bands show, Sex Bob-omb's monster has glowing green eyes... a "Green eyed monster" aka jealousy. Nega Scott at the end is Scott's opposite. So afterwards Scott says to the other's "He's a really nice guy", because Scott himself is kind of a douche throughout the movie. And so on ... :)
This was my first experience with watching Chris Evans. I'm bad with faces and didn't even realize that Captain America's actor was in Scott Pilgrim. I just knew him as "that unreasonably hot guy who played Ramona's 2nd Ex". It's kind of a shame that he KOed and turned into coins, because I would've paid good money to see him wake up in Wallace's bed.
Also it's chris's beard shape with the gote, and eyebrows that are throwing ya off. They've pencilled in his eyebrows dark black and arched them making him look a bit more like Jafar from Aladdin 👍🤭
Some of the eyebrow shape is makeup, but Chris Evans can arch his eyebrows to look like that. He did it in the reunion table read…it’s such a great video to watch? 😃
It truly is crazy just how stacked this cast is! Like, you literally couldn't make this film anymore. Every single one of these actors is an absolute A-lister now and paying just a couple of them to show up would probably be the entire film's original budget.
Since you loved the editing so much, you should react to some of the other films in Wright's filmography. I would love to see you do the Cornetto trilogy (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World's End) or Baby Driver (despite the awfulness of irl Kevin Spacy).

I loved her in the Canadian movie Goon that came out the year after this one, a fun comedy about bouncer who becomes a minor league hockey fighter 😊

How cute. Chris Evans is in Scott Pilgrim but that Fantastic 4 T Shirt reference was a nice nod to Chris Evans as well. This movie I watched so many times when it first came out and in the end I lost track on how many times I seen it. You can say this movie is a guilty pleasure of mine and I was over the moon when Ubisoft remastered the Scott Pilgrim game when the Original game was pulled from all digital storefronts and Anamanaguchi is such a great composer of chiptune music and they were a perfect fit for the game. Scott Pilgrm is a cultural masterpiece and I couldn't imagine a world without it.
The graphic novels are definitely worth checking out. They did a pretty good job on the movie, but the comics are waaaay better. BTW, the awesome soundtrack is Beck. 👍
Something i love about this movie, all the actors actually learn how to play the instruments, they were comitted on the movie, is funny because the only who actually know how to play was Michael Cera, but in the movie is who play worst, he playso well that Edgar Wright asked him to make it sound bad

I will always love this movie, It never shys away from the fact scott is also a person with tons of faults. But by the end he starts to finally change for the better. He moves out of Wallace's place and goes with the girl he likes. Stops lying to everyone, and even gives his bass spot to Neil because The reason hes really even in the band is because of envy. He's basically a new person by the end. But I will say a lot of the outtakes should've been left it. They give the movie just that little extra explanation at times or small jokes that wouldve been nice
