When aliens intercept video feeds of classic arcade games and misinterpret them as a declaration of war, they attack Earth, using the games as models. Knowing that he must employ a similar strategy, President Will Cooper (Kevin James) recruits his childhood pal, former video-game champ and home-theater installer Sam Brenner (Adam Sandler), to lead a team of old-school arcade players and a military specialist (Michelle Monaghan) in an all-out battle to save the planet.
I don't know why so many people don't like this movie, it's a super fun comedy for the whole family. Adam Sandler is amazing in this one, just like in Grown Ups. Seriously, this and the Grown Ups are my top favorite Adam Sandler movies!
it also had really good cgi for a film made in 2015
The critics just don't appreciate nostalgia, and the majority of general audiences aren't gamers - but the effects are great, and it's super enjoyable to gamers in their 30s and 40s. I had a feeling you'd enjoy it !
not to mention the originality, right? because that is the reason that director Chris Columbus was so invested on script concept
@@scoutart1508 sure, it's original, but I was responding specifically to one of JV's questions in the video. I gave him a slightly overwhelming list of movies a few years back that would be good for the channel he was building, along w a few others I knew he'd like that veered away from standard animation - I'm so happy he finally got around to this one.
I loved this movie when it came out, and in all honesty it's still a fun watch even now, like most Adam Sandler movies you just gotta come in to have a fun time and not to expect an enthralling and intense Story
I bet those who were growing up on the games that are portrayed in this movie felt really nostalgic!
I'm only twenty six and it was nostalgic for me so yeah probably. I'm also from a poor family so we had an Atari and Super Nintendo up until around 2007 when I got an original play station that was kinda like a big cd player in design. You just pushed the top and it would pop open. Cordless wasn't a thing for me until I was about fifteen other than a couple friends that would let me play their systems. I remember trying a GameCube and I thought they were the future lol. Now I have an Oculus because my friend joined the army and gave away stuff he didn't want to have to put in storage. He gave me his Xbox one too. I still sometimes just plug in my mom's laptop to the tv and use a universal controller that I got a few Christmas' ago to play mario of all kinds and all the donkey kong countries. I have a USB with the games on it so I can play them anywhere there's a computer that I can use.
One of two movies that I know of where Sean Bean DOESN'T die.

Lost In Adaptation Fact: The original Pixels (2010) short film by Patrick Jean can still be found on UA-cam.
Pac-Man Creator Fact: Toru Iwatani is played by Denis Akiyama, as the Pac-Man creator didn't play himself because he doesn't speak any English. However the real Toru Iwatani does cameo as an arcade repairman early in the movie.
Tie-In Game Fact: The Biddy Bandits (the little purple ninjas attacking the bus) and Lady Lisa (Ashley Benson) are all from the new, retro-style video game Dojo Quest (2015), created as a tie-in for the movie. Ashley Benson had to go through martial arts training for her role as Lady Lisa.
Max Headroom Fact: Matt Frewer portrays an alien version of Max Headroom, a role he made famous in numerous 1980s television productions. It was the first appearance of Max since 2007 when he appeared in Channel 4 commercials promoting their switch to digital broadcasts. Max was always presented as a computer generated character, but was always portrayed by Frewer in make-up. This movie marks the first time Max Headroom was an actual computer generated character.

I don't understand why this movie gets so much hate. It's just nostalgic turn-your-brain-off stupid popcorn fun with surprisingly cool visual effects. It's the video game Independence Day.😂

Nice movie and we get to see the creator of Pac-Man in this movie.
Mid range stupid fun, which is exactly what I wanted with this movie. Nothing serious, just silly so I was all about it.
Two AMAZING scifi suggestions, best sci-fi ever for me.

It's a silly nostalgia comedy by Adam Sandler. If you keep 10% seriousness, you're not going to enjoy this movie. I loved it for its humor.

Plus, they were trying to make it more like the wizard movie kind of but that’s why I give this movie a B minus But only if they started making pixels to like this year, I would’ve been so happy to at least go. See that with HANNAH and Lisette. Maybe even like next year. because we gotta have Adam Sandler play in the second movie to.

Yeah, but now in these days like when you walk into Dave & Buster’s it’s totally like one of those feelings mainly just from my dad though but he’s cool like that plus Dave & Buster’s is the second best arcade other than the one at the Denver Mall that I remember going to? Even though it’s been a long time but then they had to like fix it up and then I went there with HANNAH and luset in a couple weeks and also bad things to happen. Maybe it was because of them throwing my ball around But a lot of other good things did happen to like I got so much candy my pockets were filled to the brim with so much candy.

Plus a Dave & Buster’s they have like a whole bunch of different games like when you were kids From like that, Kassandra feeling especially pac-Man, but I would rather than make new video games like Pac-Man and the ghostly aventures it would be like where you have to trade to be Pac-Man like inside the video game but I don’t know if they have that kind of game for the Nintendo switch either or one like the amazing Digital Circus kind of will you have to try to find the escape that would be fun to

Josh Gad's character was even more annoying (to me) than Dink's in this. Gad had like 2 funny lines, the rest is him just yelling & being obnoxious and dumb.
