This song is for the "Young Guns II" film. It had Emilio Estevez, Lou Diamond Phillips, Keifer Sutherland and Christian Slater. It's about Billy the Kid. My personal thoughts is I love both Young Guns movies and Emilio Estevez is friends with Jon Bon Jovi, which got him to do the songs and music for the second Young Guns movie. Also, Jon Bon Jovi was in the movie for about 1 second, he raised up out of a hole, which got shot and fell back into the hole.
He did the whole soundtrack as a solo album to Young Guns II... if you want a Bon Jovi (band) song similar to this sound, check out the song "Dry County"... it's probably my favorite by them.

The producers of Young Guns II asked Jon if they could have Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive" for their movie. Jon didn't think it would be a good fit, so he wrote them a whole new song for it - "Blaze of Glory".
And he was so inspired by the screenplay that he wrote a whole album from it. In turn, the producers love Blaze so much the add Blaze of Glory to the title of the movie. "Young Guns 2:Blaze of Glory"
The sound that you’re asking about is from an instrument known as a “Jews Harp” or “Mouth Harp”. I nearly drove my family nuts trying to learn to play one that I won at the county fair when I was ten.
Lol, I bet. I could just imagine my little brother screwing around with one & it would have driven me nuts! It’s easy to imagine, cause he was in a lot of plays & musicals as a kid. He was constantly walking around the house & singing at the top of his lungs. I still have 35 year old nightmares of him singing ‘Oliver’ for weeks on end🤣

I tried playing along whenever I heard one, usually in the Saturday afternoon westerns, but it was cheaply made, and the flat spring broke at the tack weld. Jon Bon Jovi & Richie Sambora... MTV Video Music Awards... Livin' on a Prayer/Wanted Dead or Alive is a must. Basically started the "Unplugged" movement that many rock bands of the 80s followed.
I’ve been waiting a long time for someone to react to the MTV thing. Seems a no-brainer. Yet nothing. Maybe it’s generational and nobody cares about the historical significance. No idea…..
You beat me to it. I was going to suggest the same thing. That performance is iconic, and would definitely be something worth reacting to. The unplugged movement picked up so much speed after this that MTV started an entire series called "Unplugged." For many artists, it was a way to show you had made it. One, you had be a big enough hit that MTV would ask you to do it, and you then had to have some pretty good skill to sound decent doing an entire acoustic set. I still have my "KISS Unplugged" CD.
"Blaze of Glory" (1990) was Bon Jovi's 5th and last #1 single on Billboard's Hot 100. Between 1984 to 2006, Bon Jovi charted 30 singles on the Hot 100, 20 in the Top 40, 11 in the Top 10 featuring 5 #1 singles ("You Give Love a Bad Name," "Livin' on a Prayer" (both 1986), "Bad Medicine" (1988), "I'll Be There For You," (1989) & "Blaze of Glory." This single was credited to Jon Bon Jovi as a solo artist. It featured musicians Jeff Beck & Aldo Nova (guitars) and Randy Jackson (bass). "Blaze of Glory" was nominated for a Best Original Song Academy Award but lost to "Sooner or Later" from "Dick Tracy" (composed by Stephen Sondheim, sung by Madonna).
That entire soundtrack he did for Young Guns II is amazing. Just soak in the lyrics. Jon Bon Jovi really did a stellar job in capturing the spirit and heart of the movie. They lyrics to Santa Fe, Blood Money, etc.- All excellent storytelling songs.
Blood Money and Bang a Drum, whole album is solid though, remember seeing Young Guns two in the theater back when I was going into 7th grade man got this cassette same year
@@nathanmaxey4604 yep. I'm ways torn between those 3 songs. I know it wasn't all him but those are some great arrangements with amazing lyrics. Still love the whole album. I'm a bit older...old enough to remember my female friends freaking out over the rolling stones cover when the first movie came out! Definitely two of my favorite westerns
How could one be a teenager in the 80's and not be in love with Jon Bon Jovi? This album was great to sing along to from start to finish. He made a whole album inspired by the Young Guns movie. He was getting his western vibe on.
Bon Jovi was asked if they could use Wanted Dead or Alive, but he told them he would write a new song for them instead. They thanked him by giving him a cameo
So many great almost throwaway lines… “when your born into this world, well they say your born in sin. Well, at least they gave me something, I didn’t have to steal or have to win.” “I’m the colt in your stable, I’m what Cain was to Able, Mr. Catch me if you can.”
This song gets all the hype, but John did the entire soundtrack for Young Guns II. IMO the whole album is great. Thete is even a duet with Little Richard.
Yes! Santa Fe and Dyin' Ain't Much of Livin' are great tracks, and the one with Little Richard, "You Really Got Me" is fun and different from the rest of the album.
There's some damn fine lyric writing here. This song is amazing, and man both of the Young Guns movies are classics. This is from Young Guns 2. Seriously, see them both. You'll dig them!
The most moving lines in this for me always were "I never drew first but I drew first blood" (you'll understand that line if you see the movie) and then "You ask if I'll grow to be a wise man, Well I ask if I'll grow old", "Let this boy die like a man" This entire album was awesome. Miracle and Bang a Drum are personal favorites. All the songs are based on a gunslinger point of view. Gotta think the movies were all about Billy the Kid and that life. So he writes like he's an outlaw type. You definitely should see Young Guns and YG II on your movie channel:)
I can remember hitting playing Bon Jovi over and over on repeat when I was much younger. Drove everyone in our home crazy. They were one of my favorites.
Rock like this from the 70s 80s 90s will never be the same! Bon Jovi, GnR, Def Leapard Aerosmith, Zeppelin, Floyd, Heart, etc! These groups were built in the streets, schools, in the garage in the parks, pubs clubs and buses sleeping in motels, campers cars😂 They were friends who played the instruments and wrote the music and Rocked it. Nowadays its all done for you.
Either on his own or leading the band, Jon Bon Jovi is incredible. -Dead or Alive -Lay Your Hands On Me -Bed of Roses -Have A Nice Day -(You Want To) Make A Memory You guys will love Young Guns I & II. (First time I fell for Kiefer Sutherland!) One other Western must watch is Tombstone (Kurt Russell, Val Kilmer, et al.)
@@estills4768 Yeah, I was just about to suggest that, but wasn't sure if they had already reacted to it! I was just about to check out their playlist! Dead or Alive and Lay Your Hands On Me are probably my 2 favorites of theirs!
This song was an in joke in our family. That he never seemed to ever fall off the cliff lol.... I remember this song vividly being played on Saturday morning RAVE programs. Its a great song. Respect to him as a person as well, such a fine caring individual.
Jon had a few solo hits apart from the band. This was from Young Guns II, the second (and final) movie in the series. Jon actually had a (non-speaking) cameo in the movie, getting shot down in a... well, you know. "Miracle" and "Midnight in Chelsea" are two other great tunes of his.
OMG guys this was thee Rock Anthem back n the day!! Shit down in a blaze of glory was cranked as high as you could, everywhere!! But J MY MAN, ACDC is dying to be played again. I’m telling ya RIDE ON is an absolute Banger of blues!! You will not be disappointed. Much love and light to you and your family. You guys are the best. 💙💙☀️☀️
YESS!! Ride on is critical! It's an amazing tune. It's blues, but ACDC style. Angus has a way of going back and forth between both the blues scale and I think the mixolydian mode. Sounds boring AF when I describe it that way, but soundwise, anything but boring!
Starring Emilio Esteves, Lou Diamond Phillips, and a bunch of others. Start with Young Guns part 1. Emilio plays Billy the Kid. And he does it very AWESOME
This song is listed in Wiki for the soundtrack for "Young Guns" and "Young Guns II". "Young Guns" and "Young Guns II" are well worth watching. Young Guns was called the most historically accurate telling of the story of Billy the Kid. A great line up of actors. If you don't recognize them, you need to dig deeper. Another must-see is "Tombstone" which has a different, but equally great, cast of characters. I also liked "Legends of the Fall".
Great track from the Young Guns 2 soundtrack... and if you haven't watched Young Guns 1 or 2. Those are worth a watch as well. Great cast and its loosely based about the life of Billy the kid. Those 2 movies are 2 of my top westerns.
The song is from the soundtrack to the movie 'Young Guns II" I remember when this came out I had bought the cassette...yes it was that long ago, the week before the movie came out. I listened to that soundtrack for that whole week and by the time I got to go watch it, I stayed at the end of the movie so I could hear the song on the big screen. Still one of the best soundtracks and it still holds up to this day. Little known fact...JBJ had a VERY small role in the movie. (He was one of the men in the hole with Chavez and Doc) It was Jon's first movie role.
This is one of JBJ's best songs, and Omg...just suited the vibe of the movie- Young Guns 2 wonderfully! Jon even had a very quick cameo as a prisoner held in a dirt pit in the movie. Both YG films were great and Emilio was Billy like a glove fits a hand. 😏
There are so many Bon Jovi songs I'd love to see your reaction to. Wanted Dead Or Alive, Never Say Goodbye, Bad Medicine, Lay Your Hands on Me. And like others have said, their performance at the 1989 MTV VMA'S is epic. Jon and Richie are magic together.
Hey Jay & Amber! This song was on the soundtrack for the movie "Young Guns" with Emilio Estevez (who was also in the movie "The Breakfast Club"), Kiefer Sutherland (who was also in the movie "The Lost Boys"), and Lou Diamond Phillips (who was also in the movie "La Bamba"). All of those films you should absolutely review. You won't regret it.
I didn't heard this song in Years. And it blasted me away with your reaction. Love your reaction like always. But this brings back memories and of course the time of Young Guns and Young Guns II. He has this signature voice which you can hear out just by hearing the first parts of the song.
This whole album is fire! Some of Jon's best work actually! From Miricle to Santa Fe, Billy Get Your Gun, Blood Money, and my personal favorite Bang a Drum!
For Jon Bon Jovi there are a good number of good songs that I liked by them. 1) Living On A Prayer 2) Bad Medicine 3) Lay Your Hands On Me 4) Wanted Dead or Alive 5) You Give Love A Bad Name
I get chills with a lot of Jon's music, and have since 1984, when I was just 13 years old and experiencing music for real for the first time with "Runaway." He's always been my favorite. And I do mean Jon, because he's always been the driver. And when you stop and realize that he wrote all of his solo music and most of the band's music, that's just a single aspect of his talent. He's also, admittedly, not a 'natural' singer, so he had to really train his voice, and he did it masterfully. On top of that, he has always been great with business and has managed his band from day one. He went on to create his own label and signed Skid Row and Cinderella to name a couple back in the day. And he's still going strong, understandably having to go easier on his voice as he clocks in at 60 years old. He's also married to his high school sweet heart, has some great kids, and he owns and runs the "Soul Kitchen" that feeds people for free in exchange for volunteering at the restaurant. (You can also pay, of course. ) It's not unusual for Jon to stop in to one of the Soul Kitchen locations and wait on customers and even wash dishes. Just a great guy all around. As a kid, I used to keep a scrap book of the band. I was a HUGE fan lol. Anyway, you should also check out the song "Santa Fe" from the same album, as it really gives you a better idea of how awesome he really is vocally. Great reaction! Thanks!
Fun fact: Jon Bon Jovi had a cameo in Young Guns II. During the "pit" break, he's one of the guys that gets out and takes a shotgun blast to the chest and thrown back into the pit.
One of Bon Jovi's best song. His vocals are so beautiful with raw emotion. The country undertones are so evident in this movie song for "Young Guns". Another great suggestion for your movie channel. Guitars are insane in this song. Great reaction. Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤️ ❤️ 🇨🇦🇨🇦
"Young Guns" was a good movie but "Unforgiven" with Clint Eastwood is a one of the best westerns of all time. Fun fact: they were wanting him to use the song "wanted Dead or alive" which is one of their biggest if not biggest hit they had with bon Jovi for the movie but he refused and wrote that song blaze of glory for the movie instead.
Unforgiven was okay. I liked them about the same. Different kinds of westerns. I like the Good the bad and the Ugly much more than Unforgiven if you are thinking of Clint Eastwood westerns in a more spaghetti western-esque feel.
@@timmypyron2830 Speaking of old westerns, they should watch High Noon with Gary Cooper! That is a great western with so much great actors/ acting, great dialogue an plot, and great pacing. One of the greatest movies of all time let alone westerns.
Benmont Tench (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) played the Hammond Organ on this track. Kenny Aronoff (John Mellencamp, John Fogerty, Bob Seeger, and others on tours or on record) played drums . 😎
This is from Young Guns II . I played this song into the ground! I loved the song and the movie. Obviously you need to see the first Young Guns. The first movie is kind of the "origin" of the legend of Billy the Kid and the second, the rest of the story of Billy the Kid as told by "Billy the Kid" or William H Bonney ( his given name). Lots of big name men in it who were a BIG DEAL at the time and we rushed to the theaters to feast our eyes on them! Lol The song fits with Young Guns ll very well. In fact...look REALLY close and you'll see Jon Bon Jovi in the movie! Tom Cruise has a cameo in the first one.
An 80's band who gets overlooked is Sheriff. "When I'm With You" is a power ballad. The singer, Freddy Curci, has an exceptional voice. Please listen to this one.
I totally agree! I had nearly forgotten about that song! About 30 years ago I sang it at a friend's wedding. I didn't do a bad job, but I couldn't do the original it's due justice. ❤🔥
The instrument y’all say sounds like a door stopper is called a “Juice harp” or “jaw harp”. It’s a small metal instrument you hold against your lips and pluck a slender metal piece which gets its sound from the open air in the mouth combined with the metal piece vibrating to make that iconic sound. Best way I know how to describe it.
"Well, I've seen love come, and I've seen it shot down. I've seen it die in vain." is a reference the lyricist makes to the fact that Billy the kid saw the figure of John Tunstall as his father and the love he had never had.
I suggested Young Guns 1 and 2. This song is from the soundtrack of Young Guns 2. Awesome movies guys! There are actors you've seen already. Emilio Esteves from Breakfast Club, Lou Diamond Phillips from La Bamba, and Kiefer Sutherland was a vampire in Lost Boys.
The album with the same name, written single handely by Jon Bon Jovi in 1990 and with the participation of a bunch of mega-artists like Elton John, Little Richard and Jeff Beck, is a total masterpiece. I warmly recommend a reaction to the entire album.
As mentioned in other comments, this song is from the 1990 movie YOUNG GUNS II, the sequel to the 1988 hit Western YOUNG GUNS. Both films are heavily fictionalized (but historically accurate in some respects) retellings of the Billy the Kid story and the Lincoln County War in New Mexico in the late 19th Century. Many of the characters in these films were actual people involved in the events depicted, although there’s a hefty amount of creative license taken with the facts in order to make it more entertaining. They’re both worthy films for your movie reaction channel to be sure. I’m friends with John Fusco, the writer of both films, and as he’s told it, this song came about because they were interested in using Bon Jovi’s 1987 hit song “Wanted Dead or Alive” in the sequel. However, although the song definitely has a similar feeling to this one and is evocative of a Western, lyrically, it doesn’t fit the timeline of a Western, since it refers to a six-string guitar and a motorcycle among other things. So Jon Bon Jovi wrote this song instead, and appeared in a cameo in the film as an escaping prisoner (and onscreen he’s right next to the film’s screenplay writer, my friend John Fusco, who played another escaping prisoner). Jon ended up developing an entire album of similar tunes as a result (one of which appears in the film over the end credits, after this one), and released it around the same time the film came out. It was basically a solo project done shortly after Bon Jovi had completed an exhausting world tour in support of their 1988 album New Jersey. Instead of the other members of Bon Jovi, Jon employed session musicians, as well as played on it himself. He later returned to Bon Jovi, the band, and has continued on with them ever since.
Next Bon Jovi songs? "Never Say Goodbye" (the ultimate high school graduation song), "Always", and their attempt at country "You Wanna Make a Memory" (which has a great video).
He was nominated for an Academy Award, for Best Original Song In A Motion Picture at the 1991 Oscar ceremony, honoring the 1990 year. He ended up not winning that Oscar, even though he was ‘favored’ to win. He was favored to win, because 2 months earlier, he did win The Golden Globe for this.
The backstory of the "Young Guns" soundtrack is interesting too: The directors approached Bon Jovi for permission to use "Wanted Dead Or Alive" for the soundtrack. Bon Jovi asked for a synopsis of the movie. He was impressed, but told them he didn't think "Wanted Dead Or Alive" was a good fit, HOWEVER, he'd be happy to work with them to write and perform songs (plural) specifically for the movie. To say they were a little gobsmacked would be a bit of an understatement.
Loved your reactions. The "Blaze of Glory" solo album was released in 1990. If you like the theme & feel of that song, you'll love the song "Wanted Dead or Alive" off Bon Jovi's 1986 breakthrough album "Slippery When Wet" - the song is something of a rock classic. link ua-cam.com/video/SRvCvsRp5ho/v-deo.html
The soundtrack from Young Guns is amazing. "Miracle" is my other favorite from it. Y'all should check out that video. This video was filmed on the Rectory in Utah. Everything had to be helicoptered in, and Jon camped out up there instead of returning to a hotel.
Haha, my ex's dad was a police officer (UK) and was on duty at a Bon Jovi concert (Milton Keynes Bowl). He was introduced to the band as he was guarding their 'band space' and actually shook Jon's hand and had a quick chat. What I found funny was he had no idea about popular music and naively said, "It's nice to meet you Mr Jovi" - classic. Wasn't until the next day when he told his kids about the night that he realised and they were mortified!
I think I read somewhere that one of the people behind the original Young Guns movie had been inspired to make the movie, at least in part, by Bon Jovi's Wanted Dead or Alive song. When Jon heard that he thought that the lyrics didnt actually fit the movie and so wrote this song for the sequel. Pardon any failings of memory, its been many years since seeing the interview.
Young Guns 1&2 actor Emilio Estevez asked Jon if they could use the band's hit "Wanted Dead or Alive" for the 2nd movie, but Jon said that the lyrics don't fit. So he ended up writing an entire album for the sequel by himself. His most epic vocal performance is for the track "Santa Fe". So far, he has two solo albums. Bon Jovi's former lead guitarist & co-writing partner, Richie Sambora (he caught your ears in the "I'll Be There for You" video), also has a solo career. Check out "Stranger in This Town" & "Ballad of Youth".
Loved this song and “Blood Money” from the same soundtrack. As everyone else has mentioned, this is from Young Guns II and you should absolutely watch both I & II - they’d be perfect for your movie reaction channel.
The lyrics to "Blood Money" are amazing in its storytelling and visual. I'm curious to know just how closely Jon Bon Jovi worked with and had access to the script.
Your question about what's making the 'twang' sound, it's from a small instrument called a Jaw Harp aka mouth harp. The lamellophone instrument consists of a flexible metal or bamboo tongue or reed attached to a frame. This tongue is placed in the performer’s mouth and plucked with the finger to produce a note.
I love this song. Bon jovi have lots of great songs. He also does great ballads. I’ve been trying to got someone to react to ( In these arms) bon jovi done in 93. I hope you will be the one. 🥰 Yes watch the young guns movies too.

Between 1984 to 2006, Bon Jovi charted 30 singles on the Hot 100, 20 in the Top 40, 11 in the Top 10 featuring 5 #1 singles ("You Give Love a Bad Name," "Livin' on a Prayer" (both 1986), "Bad Medicine" (1988), "I'll Be There For You," (1989) & "Blaze of Glory."
This single was credited to Jon Bon Jovi as a solo artist.
This was also nominated for a Grammy, but lost to "Under the Sea" by Alan Menken & Howard Ashman. However, it won a Golden Globe.
Like anyone remembers that song from Dick T.
Jon no sólo es una cara y cuerpo bonito, sino también un gran artista, cantante, músico, compositor, y actor.
His solo album based on this movie is excellent. The song "Santa Fe" is probably my all time favorite by him. And the lyrics, oh my lord are they good
Santa fe is an amazing and underrated song
Santander Fe was awesome
Blood Money and Bang a Drum, whole album is solid though, remember seeing Young Guns two in the theater back when I was going into 7th grade man got this cassette same year
@@nathanmaxey4604 yep. I'm ways torn between those 3 songs. I know it wasn't all him but those are some great arrangements with amazing lyrics. Still love the whole album. I'm a bit older...old enough to remember my female friends freaking out over the rolling stones cover when the first movie came out! Definitely two of my favorite westerns
@@nathanmaxey4604 I absolutely love Bang a Drum!
How could one be a teenager in the 80's and not be in love with Jon Bon Jovi? This album was great to sing along to from start to finish. He made a whole album inspired by the Young Guns movie. He was getting his western vibe on.
Didn't have to be a teen to be in love with Jon Bon Jovi, I was in my thirties when they appeared on the scene and I loved him too.
Lol I was a teenager 10 years ago and still was in love with the guy xD
Not just inspired by, but written for Young Guns II
Bon Jovi was asked if they could use Wanted Dead or Alive, but he told them he would write a new song for them instead. They thanked him by giving him a cameo
Definitely, loved him, still love him.
So many great almost throwaway lines…
“when your born into this world, well they say your born in sin.
Well, at least they gave me something, I didn’t have to steal or have to win.”
“I’m the colt in your stable,
I’m what Cain was to Able,
Mr. Catch me if you can.”
Cant believe with all the bon jovi they have done and they have not done
WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE there best song simply magical masterpiece
Fun fact, the producers of young guns 2 wanted to use "wanted dead or alive" but Jon Bon Jovi knew the lyrics wouldn't fit so he wrote this song.
This song gets all the hype, but John did the entire soundtrack for Young Guns II. IMO the whole album is great. Thete is even a duet with Little Richard.
And a song with Elton John at the piano, and the renowed guitarist Jeff Beck across the entire album.
John makes a brief cameo. He is shot and lands in a water trough
Yes! Santa Fe and Dyin' Ain't Much of Livin' are great tracks, and the one with Little Richard, "You Really Got Me" is fun and different from the rest of the album.
I wore my cassette tape out of this soundtrack lol. One of the best soundtracks of a movie.
Both of those movies are absolute classics that don't get the respect they deserve!
-Dead or Alive
-Lay Your Hands On Me
-Bed of Roses
-Have A Nice Day
-(You Want To) Make A Memory
You guys will love Young Guns I & II. (First time I fell for Kiefer Sutherland!)
One other Western must watch is Tombstone (Kurt Russell, Val Kilmer, et al.)
Yes Tombstone- please!!!
💯 facts!! My teenage years!
I would like to second the suggestion of Wanted Dead or Alive.
Wanted Dead or Alive! Favorite Bon Jovi song 🔥
I can't remember but if y'all haven't done Wanted Dead or Alive , please do. Absolutely awesome song by Bon Jovi.
I was honestly expecting the opening riff from Wanted Dead or Alive, but then I was like, oh right, it's the Young Guns one
"Wanted Dead or Alive" is a true BANGER!! ❤️👏👏👏👏👏
Yes please!
"Santa Fe" from this album is epic!
I love Bon Jovi! And Jon has some amazing solo songs as well. “Miracle”, “Midnight in Chelsea”, “Janie Don’t You Take Your Love To Town”… ☺️
32 years later and I can still sing every single word. Bon Jovi was my first concert at 12 years old.
I was on a Iron Maiden consert back in early 80's and Bon Jovi was the opening band playing their first hit "Runaway", feels like yesterday 🤟
He made it out the hole though... barely... haha
Bang a Drum is also a great song of that album.
I just heard they’re planning a 3rd YGs movie.
He made several other films- Moonlight and Valentino is my favorite.
@@1177kc U571 is also a very good movie.
I would love to watch them react to Ride On too. 👍👍👍👍
It's not actually the final movie anymore though. Young Guns 3 just came out.
Thanks for doing this one. "Bang a drum" is the one I like the most from this album, there's so much in to that song.
One of the best movie soundtracks ever... Young Guns... check it out especially Santa Fe, Miracle and Blood Money.
Starring Emilio Esteves, Lou Diamond Phillips, and a bunch of others. Start with Young Guns part 1. Emilio plays Billy the Kid. And he does it very AWESOME
Love
This song made the movie more awesome
This song is listed in Wiki for the soundtrack for "Young Guns" and "Young Guns II". "Young Guns" and "Young Guns II" are well worth watching. Young Guns was called the most historically accurate telling of the story of Billy the Kid. A great line up of actors. If you don't recognize them, you need to dig deeper. Another must-see is "Tombstone" which has a different, but equally great, cast of characters. I also liked "Legends of the Fall".
Song wasn’t around when young guns came out. It was written specifically for young guns two.
@@jasong.5165 I also thought it was for YGII, but Wiki said it was on both soundtracks, so I went with that.
I really like all your recommedations, great movies all! I have all 4!
Seconding Tombstone, that's a must see.
I think our movie lists match!! 😯👍😃❣️😃👍
Great track from the Young Guns 2 soundtrack... and if you haven't watched Young Guns 1 or 2. Those are worth a watch as well.
Great cast and its loosely based about the life of Billy the kid. Those 2 movies are 2 of my top westerns.
Agree 💯👍 really good westerns🇺🇲
Never Say Goodbye is 1 of my all time faves!!!
Yes! “Wanted Dead or Alive”. Video and song was a great one!
Yes to that original comment👆
Hey Jay & Amber! This song was on the soundtrack for the movie "Young Guns" with Emilio Estevez (who was also in the movie "The Breakfast Club"), Kiefer Sutherland (who was also in the movie "The Lost Boys"), and Lou Diamond Phillips (who was also in the movie "La Bamba"). All of those films you should absolutely review. You won't regret it.
Soundtrack for Young guns 2.
and Christian Slater., Charlie Sheen, Dermot Mulroney.
also with William Peterson as Pat Garret, long before staring in CSI Vegas.
I've been a fan for a long time and I love this song. Bon Jovi is a huge band and Jon has a voice. I've seen this band live and I absolutely love it.
I didn't heard this song in Years. And it blasted me away with your reaction. Love your reaction like always. But this brings back memories and of course the time of Young Guns and Young Guns II. He has this signature voice which you can hear out just by hearing the first parts of the song.
My parents walked down the aisle to JON BON JOVI’s “Bang a Drum” and their first dance song was BON JOVI “Thank you for loving me”
This whole album is fire! Some of Jon's best work actually! From Miricle to Santa Fe, Billy Get Your Gun, Blood Money, and my personal favorite Bang a Drum!
Hey Patty Garett!
Because he had Jeff Beck on Guitar and Elton John on Keyboards.. Kinda really can't miss when you had these Cats on your team
@@Lee4364 True but his writing was also very good. Some of his most original writing to be honest.
@@djdex68 100% dude
Don't forget Kenny Aronoff on drums that guy is a monster player and had played for a lot of the artist you all have listed to already!
Jon Bon Jovi wrote the soundtrack to Young Guns II, and he's even in the movie, he plays an inmate. He was also in the movie U571.
For Jon Bon Jovi there are a good number of good songs that I liked by them.
1) Living On A Prayer
2) Bad Medicine
3) Lay Your Hands On Me
4) Wanted Dead or Alive
5) You Give Love A Bad Name
The guitar solo is sick!! Played by Jeff Beck using a slide and a whammy bar which no one really did. Simply amazing!
@@carlpeterson8182 I agree but a lot of younger folks have a tough time relating to them old westerns!
@@timmypyron2830 Speaking of old westerns, they should watch High Noon with Gary Cooper! That is a great western with so much great actors/ acting, great dialogue an plot, and great pacing. One of the greatest movies of all time let alone westerns.
@@carlpeterson8182 great one 😉
Unforgiven has a great ending. Rest of the movie is boring as heck. Young Guns films are the best modern Westerns along with Tombstone.
That solo is the great Jeff Beck. He has basically mastered guitar. He can make it sing or growl or cry or scream at will. Incredible virtuosity.
I had a sick crush on him , he was gorgeous back in the day!
The whole soundtrack is excellent! Especially Santa Fe and Blood money, miracle…his voice is so good throughout.
I agree completely!
That soundtrack as well as the Lost Boys soundtrack are both amazing!
One of my favorite albums of all time. He was in top form vocally and lyrically.
Still love the entire album
Santa Fe was so extreme vocally that Jon never even tried to do it live again, at least on the same key.
Jeff Beck on guitar and Randy Jackson on bass. 🔥🔥🔥
what a line up!
@@randor73 For real!

Lol
The song fits with Young Guns ll very well. In fact...look REALLY close and you'll see Jon Bon Jovi in the movie! Tom Cruise has a cameo in the first one.
This song won the Golden Globe in '91, and was nominated for the Academy Award the same year.
A door stopper! That's it! Almost 40 years I've never nailed that sound down like that. Cool
Great song, great band, great movie! Richie Sambora was a legendary guitarist and a perfect backup singer to provide the harmonies.
If I remember correctly, it held the world record at the time for the longest-sustained high note in a rock song. A definite must-hear.
Yes, agree. Love the music of this decade, 80s and 90s .. todays music comes up short. We were very fortunate.
Our wedding dance song in 1989
The instrument y’all say sounds like a door stopper is called a “Juice harp” or “jaw harp”. It’s a small metal instrument you hold against your lips and pluck a slender metal piece which gets its sound from the open air in the mouth combined with the metal piece vibrating to make that iconic sound.
Best way I know how to describe it.
Here is a fantastic demonstration of a Jew's Harp

I can play that, the washboard and the jug....
My husband has 3 of them. He’s a musician and collects unusual instruments.
hey, you described it better than I could - I had one once, probably around the time this song came out
@Strawberry Shortcake
It's called both.
"Well, I've seen love come, and I've seen it shot down. I've seen it die in vain." is a reference the lyricist makes to the fact that Billy the kid saw the figure of John Tunstall as his father and the love he had never had.
BEST WESTERN Bon Jovi Song by far their biggest early hit. Wanted Dead or Alive
This is the song he did for the movie "Young Guns II". The sound is like a rattlesnake. 😁
Agree. You should definitely do Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora at the 1989 MTV music awards. So great!
This song got an Oscar nomination. It was never going to win because it was up against Stephen Sondheim, but it arguably should have.
I loved this entire soundtrack and the Young Guns movies. :) "Santa Fe" and "Justice in the Barrel" might be my faves.
The director originally wanted "Dead or Alive" for "Young Guns,", but instead, Jon wrote "Blaze of Glory" specifically for the movie.
Check out "Always" by Bon Jovi. That's one of the last songs by them where Jon really belts it out and a great power ballad.
or bed of roses
@@biancaganesh I thought of that one right after I posted. Another great choice.
They had so many great hits but this without a doubt is one of my all time Jon Bonjovi Master pieces
Bon Jovi's guitarist Richie Sambora did some solo albums too. Give "Stranger in This Town" a listen. Richie's voice is so soulful and recognizable.
I love the whole album!!!! Love his voice!
One Light Burning shows his talent imo. Very good album.
Richie Sambora has 3 albums out. Each one is excellent. I would suggest reacting to Harlem Rain, from his 2nd album, Undiscovered Soul.
You have to do 'Santa Fe' now from the same album. It's Jon bon jovi's best solo song of all time. His voice was insane back then
Sante Fe is the best song on that album
Great movie great song❤️❤️❤️❤️
Still love this song in 2023. I have seen YGII , so many times, love that movie. The actors played their parts really well.
My favorite Bon Jovi song! Still on my playlist ❤️
@@uclagymnastx-ing I believe he had a extra bit in the movie. His character was shot in the film. Like a 2 second scene.
He won a Golden Globe for the song from the movie Young Guns 2. The song was also nominated for an Academy Award
Jay & Amber, you'll love his "Who Says You Can’t Go Home" with Jennifer Nettles!!!
I love this song.
Bon jovi have lots of great songs.
He also does great ballads.
I’ve been trying to got someone to react to ( In these arms) bon jovi done in 93. I hope you will be the one. 🥰

Getting to see Bon Jovi at Slane Castle in 2013 was definitely towards the top of my bucket list.
Another song from this solo album that is tremendous - "Miracle"
Great reaction y’all!! This is the theme from a movie call Young Guns II. (Great movies I and II about Billy the kid and his gang of Regulators) Jon was on break from the band and heard about this movie with Emilio Esteves. Jon showed up on set and played this song for the producer and he loved it. He sat in a set diner with Emilio and wrote out these lyrics on a cocktail napkin! Emilio has them framed on his wall Cool story, huh? (Thank you songfacts..lol) Be well and God bless… from Texas!!
From the movie Young Guns staring Emilo Estevez, Kiefer Sutherland, Charlie Sheen, Lou Diamond Phillips, Casey Siemaszko, Dermot Mulroney and more.
I am in my 40s…and did not realize until this moment this was a solo project for Jon Bon Jovi.
Never fail to get goosebumps from Jon's vocal on this song
