There's just something so heartwarming and awesome about Matt celebrating his birthday by sharing a pretty sweet TMNT game (possibly one of if not THE last must-play GBA games) with us all! 😁

Idk if it's well known, but this was by the team at Ubusoft that later did the Scott Pilgrim game and became Tribute games. Meaning this is by the same team that made Shredder's Revenge.
In fact, that's the main reason I had such high hopes for Shredder's Revenge.
Like, Scott Pilgrim is awesome, hit knowing the same team already made a fantastic turtles beat em up made it all the better.
This movie was the first time my brother and I discovered that there could be OTHER versions of the TMNT. We though the 2003 series was all there was.
I'm the one responsible for the croissant in the game and I have no idea why I did that haha! It's probably just because it rendered well with the color palette used for pickups. I swear though, it's not the only food pickup!
Hahhah, amazing! Yeah, I found a pizza later on! Just, the first hour of the game was a croissant-fest for some reason!
The pixel art for these games aged incredibly well. Matt, you need to try the Flash game for gba as well.
After Shredder's Revenge and the Konami arcade games, this is probably the best Turtles game.
Easily the best GBA entry.
The ps2 konami games are ok-ish, they do tend to get boring though. The other gba tmnt is meh because the level design is too gimmicky
Karai's in the movie, Ancient One's in one of the prequel comics, now Hun's in this game? This just adds fuel to my (unserious) conspiracy theory that this short lived continuity started as a rejected 2003 series story arc!
The '87 version of Raph and the 2012 version Donny sound like they would like croissants.
There was a dalmatian in the toy line and a cat burglar as well. They're the two rarest toys in the line.

Yeah, I think this was that era where they would show the turtles eating something other than pizza. I'm guessing just to show the kids to have a more diverse appetite and not just dump every kind of food as a pizza topping.

What if you did the TMNT Retrospective in segments, and then released a "supercut"? I kinda liked having that 10 hour video. But, I can't even begin to imagine how much of a nightmare that probably was to throw together, so fair enough friend. I'll still be here! And Happy BDay!

It probably would've been a hilarious subtle easter egg if you played this game in English and the food powerups were pizza, French would give you croissants, and Spanish gives you tacos

Everytime I see tmnt, I think back to trying to drive my tmnt themed big wheel down the stairs as a small kid. I don't know how I survived that...
i think those things are spray cans, upon closer inspection. also them blowing up in to green gas just seemed very un-explosive.
I had this game as a kid and it was probably my favorite gameboy game next to sonic advanced and Godzilla. I wish I had my gba collection let alone my gba

Never played this. You can see how whatever platform/engine they used for this was also used for the Scott Pilgrim game. Some similar animations, the coin drops, the way breakable objects interact, the throwable weapons....

3:37 You don't have to do it all at once. You could like, do one retrospective on just the Konami TMNT games and then eventually follow that up with the Ubisoft games... maybe even a third one for the games after that.
