    Some of us get stuck at a Crossroads in our life and a guitar can often be used to help solve these basic life issues instead of all those strange new fangled silly inventions.
    During the 1930's, a lot of people were struggling at a crossroads in their lives and some of what is now regarded as the finest and most influential music in the world was created, from rhythmic guitar sounds and singing about life's troubles, a sound we now think of as the blues. With a really significant cost to the musician in those days it meant that guitars of this era had to play well and last a long time, often to be passed on through family generations.
    To create an instrument that evokes these traditional values, so often overlooked in our modern society, Tanglewood commissioned the services of a very special luthier, none other than Michael Sanden, the man behind Tanglewood Masterdesign. Michael is the creator of the Sanden Guitar company in Sweden, and now the chief design consultant for Tanglewood Guitars.
    Michael has that Scandinavian affinity with natural wood. He starts with the tree, selecting timbers that will sound good together, making the soundboards a precise measurement so they will flex and respond to the players attack, and then he braces the instrument with his own patterns to make each instrument have its own personality.
    It’s not just the special bracing, or the woods that are selected, or the construction method even. All these are vital components for any guitar… but on Crossroads Michael wanted to create something very very special.
    He wanted to make a guitar that could have the sound that any musician, professional or amateur could appreciate and he demanded that the neck profiles and bridge contouring and fret inlaying should be implemented without regard to the price of manufacturing, to proudly reflect the Tanglewood ethos of outstanding value and performance.
    When Michael was looking for a colour finish to compliment the earthy, naturally authentic signature of the Crossroads, the vivid autumnal palette of dark brown that was finally decided upon was likened by some of our friends to be inspired by the timber shading that old whiskey barrels of the last century looked like. So for the very first time, an all new Tanglewood colour finish, exclusively for the Crossroads series models and called it…Whiskey Barrel Burst!
    When this was done and the first prototypes rolled off the production line, they were so amazed by the achievement that we knew we had to really drive home the message that a lot of thought and a lot of love had gone into the creation of these fabulous guitars.
    We at PMT Portsmouth have hand selected the Crossroads instruments and bundled it with a quality hard case package. We feel it offers great traditional looks, modern playability and a quality of tone at a very affordable price ! Highly recommended, well done Tanglewood UK!

    I have the crossroads OE model and I love it!! It sounds brilliant. Plus a smaller neck for a lady with small fingers. To be truthful it is the best guitar I have owned over the years. Others have been more expensive too. I love the tone on it. Such good value!

    My old guitar is only good for slide now with high action and a stripped truss rod. Bought this as a replacement. It arrives tomorrow.

    Sounds amazing. I just got one and man... So well balanced, the lows, the mids and the highs. I would go for the acoustic one, without any eletronic, sound better. I have been playing concert guitars from 5k above and this ones are just amazing!

    You can be a tone hound and spend £ thousands. I suspect that you can have the same fun with a fine-looking box of laminate like this.
    Thanks for posting this comparison between the body styles. The difference in tone is clear.

    • @3rdalbum
      @3rdalbum 5 років тому +1

      Pretty much any guitar will sound good when played with some open strings, he used the non-standard tuning so he could use open chord shapes anywhere on the fretboard.
