he wasn't remotely held to the same standard as a civilian what are you talking about
he operated a deadly weapon while on multiple narcotics, struck another vehicle, fled the scene, and lied to cops repeatedly
For this he was uhhh asked nicely to resign and given a different desk job
What civilian doesn't spend months in jail, gets fired, and has this on their record forever? Where do you live where that happens lmao?

He didn't strike another vehicle though? Detective Williams said he struck a 'curved concrete barrier'.
It sounds like the car thing was brought up to see if he was paying attention or not... which he clearly wasn't cause when they bring up the imaginary car, he has a moment where he thinks he might've actually hit a car.

Yeah not so much. Any regular citizen would have been cuffed and stuffed the second he admitted to popping hydrocodone. He should have been arrested for leaving the scene of the accident immediately. The gang in blue works for themselves not the public. He even had adderall that he didn’t have a script for…anyone else would have caught a felony just for that. Fuck the police

      Same, homie. 7yrs sober now.
One of my lowest points was demolishing one of my neighbors mailboxes driving drunk. I fled, sat at the grocery store for a while, came back and the street was still quiet and empty so I thought I was fine.
After being inside a couple minutes, a guy in pajamas came to the door. It was the cop who lived across the street from my neighbor. Said he had footage of the entire thing.
He asked if I was drinking because he could smell it, but I told him I took a few shots when I got home to calm my nerves. I'm sure he didn't believe me but he still didn't breathalyze me.
Got a citation in lieu of arrest, booked into jail the next day then released, helped my neighbor repair his mailbox so he wrote a letter for me and got my record expunged.
I was so insanely blessed to not have had my whole life ruined, I would have deserved it

One of my friends who was in a Stryker brigade was (eventually) being prescribed 400-500mg of Oxycontin a DAY from the San Francisco VA. He had to lie to his doctors about smoking weed because since it was a federal agency, they didn't recognize any legality of weed despite being in f'ing San Francisco of all places. He finally got a new doctor assigned to him, she was more into holistic medicine. He told her he smoked weed and she said that if it was helping him, he should continue doing it, and slowly weaned him off the 400-500mg of Oxycontin. Once they had weaned him off, he told me that while the weed obviously didn't kill his underlying pain completely as much as the Oxy (he had a shoulder replacement, hip replacement, etc. from an IED blast) he preferred to not be addicted to pills anymore.

Yes, it's an illness but recent studies have found that forcing a medical concept of "you have a disease" can lead to poorer outcomes with addicts versus taking a more psychological approach. It's actually quite interesting. Addiction is awful and complicated and there are many theories and philosophies, and while sure anyone can relapse at any time the same is true that addiction itself can afflict anyone at anytime under the right circumstances.

glad we're both here to type this, I got clean from fent and xanax for 6 years, from 19 to 26 then my dad died and I thought since his strokes caused him to deteriorate before his suicide I'd have handled his death better, but when I found out it was suicide and how one day on his bday he's telling me he wants to die, 2 months later I'm playing him music on his deathbed as he lay dying from morphine and sedatives in the hospital... my sisters told me not to do anything, but I went home and for the first time decided to inject dilaudid never used a needle before, always said I never would, always made sure to use clean ones, I wanted to feel the warmth my dad was feeling on his way out and wanted a hug but all I had were drugs. And that warm rush felt like the best hug I'd ever gotten. At first, things were relatively under control, one shot in the night, small dose, just to sleep and have some semblance of peace as I couldn't stop picturing my dads death..
Bad timing, because a friend who struggled with addiction like I did but wasn't functional like I was I was taking more but some how managed to never steal, and only lied to people about what I was consuming. Well that friend needed a place to crash for the weekend, I just happened to run out of dilaudid, so I asked for 30mg of the "fentanyl" he was using. This pink shit that looked nothing like the fentanyl I took back in the day, even the street shit not patches, used to be grey or brown if heroin was in it, but now it's purple, pink, green, and I deluded myself into thinking I was being intelligent by dissolving 10mg in a specific volume of water calculating the precise dosage, this revealed the presence of a purple powder that isn't water soluble I later fouund out was a horse tranquilizer not approved for humans.. xylazine... and the numbness from that in 100ug (1/10th of 1mg as I calculated the dosage assuming purity to be higher than it would be, as that would be "smart" as I could increase dosages subtly until my desired state was achieved) the numbness from the xylaxine was more addictive than the warm blissful rush of dilaudid by IV, I never tried heroin by IV just snorting because I never trusted purity.
within 4 months of my dads death I end up overdosing and was found in the same position mac miller died in, who was an inspiration to me as I play multiple instruments and write songs in multiple genres, no music posted, coming soon to another channel, if anyone's curious I'll link that new music account on my youtube channel page. Was in the praying position with drool coming out of my mouth, I blacked out on xanax and injected something I never had before and haven't since, carfentanil, fentanyl and whatever was mixed in with it, I shot it because the xanax reduced the inhibitions that normally prevent me from doing that type of stuff, after the shot, I was already on like 10 xanax bars, 2cb, mdma, maybe mda I forget, I think a bit of cocaine, then after the shot smoked DMT and had the gnarliest near death experience ever, travelled through galaxies, felt like I transported to a Peruvian mountain where a Shaman told me the universe is eternal and the big bang is just the creation story of our little pocket, and that creation is always occurring and recycling, creating in the form of a white hole opposite to a blackhole where matter is absorbed and contrary to modern physics concept that relies on hawking radiation to explain the dissolving of blackholes, as they don't directly radiate electromagnetic radiation or mass, obviously since light can't escape, how could it emanate heat or light. Well in this out of body visionary state, this shaman explained all of this to me without words it was like concepts being conveyed without actual words, but it felt like for the first time I could understand eternity, and the infinite no longer seemed like an abstract possible phenomenon but an inevitability, our observable universe changes by the millisecond as space expands faster than light (doesn't break the law of physics as it's not matter, but the actual space itself expanding) and in this state, what was conveyed to me was that as matter is pulled into a blackhole it's constituent fundamental particles are broken down into pure energy, a state beyond even the energy of light, and the matter recycles like water precipitating, the universes expansion being driven by this eternal creation and recycling of matter. I'm not saying hawking radiation isn't potentially accurate, but I don't believe it accounts for most of the blackholes mass "disappearing" once it dissolves, and weirdly I got this message that the matter that makes up our entire observable universe has already passed through an infinite series of universes, what we call the universe is really just a bubble in infinity, limited by C (constant for speed of light in a vacuum) and thanks to the universes expansion, lightwaves carried from galaxies 41.5 billion light years in every direction can reach us despite the age of our bubble being 15 ish billion years, possibly longer now that JWT provides contradictory data)
After this strange enlightening encounter, the shaman smiled and we each reached our index fingers out, as they touched an infinitely bright white light engulfed me and I was surrouunded by these faces, but not like typical DMT story faces, not elves or aliens, it was like I was in an infinite dome which is a paradox as a dome implies a finite nature, but it was this never ending, expanding wall of human faces and the weird message I got in that space was just this abstract sense of a deep fundamental connection to every living being, not just humans as I was shown but it felt like this infinitely divided umbelical cord we all share to the same source, and I was an atheist for a good amouunt of time. I then had the message "god is love" pop out of no where non vocally just this abstract concept appeared in my consciousness like a divine email to my brain, I then woke up on the floor in the position mac was fouund in, realizing what I'd just done, and that 15 hours had passed, if I'd just taken the psychedelics I'd have had a merry and safe time, and it'd have been 15 mins for the dmt, this was like a 15 hour DMT trip I imagine the exogenously consumed DMT only catalyzed the experience then endogenous DMT secreted from the pineal prolonged it because I felt like I was out of my body, had no memory of who I was in this visionary state, felt no fear just love and peace, astonishment and then confusion upon waking up as to how a molecule could produce such effects, and just being grateful to be breathing.
Tried quitting after that, but had to wean down as my dosage was so high and the xylaxine and benzo ratio was so high, that if I stopped abruptly, I'd have a seizure which happened once, then I got on suboxone because methadone is terrible, suboxone just took away the shitty feelings but never made me feel great or like abusing it. And needed clonazepam prescribed along with it because even after weaning down, I was still quitting an unknown amount of xylazine, roughly 300mg of cut fentanyl per day sometimes 500mg. No idea how much of what was in it but the constant thoughts of my dads cremation and death scared the shit out of me and made every day intolerable, so resorted to old habits when my healthy habits didn't work... should've sought therapy. But thought I could just meditate and exercise all my problems away.
Got clean March 23rd and haven't craved anything since, the destruction is too great, I approached it as intelligently as I could and the stuff just clouds your thinking too much I don't think there's any way to intelligently take whats on the street now.

Man, when watching this video, I feel so relieved to have control over all of my mischief from years ago. Particularly when the arresting officer had sort of 'freaked out' with a worried tone after having misheard the suspect, thinking that he had said he took 10 of the 5/325 hydros. Because, back in the throes of my own issues I would've considered 50mg hydro (+soma +zan +add) as merely an 'eye-opener'. Not glorifying my past transgressions here, but rather realizing just how deep into it I was, because at my plateau, I'd run through anywhere from 400-600mg hydro per day; would throw a half full water bottle into the microwave to warm up the water close to body temperature so that things would equalize and absorb more quickly, and then break down and toss 20 of the '10'/325 hydros (200mg) into that water bottle, shake it up into a chalky (yellow at the time) mixture and then down it. That's how I'd simply 'begin' the day. Chase that with about 4 or 5 soma. Head off to work, pop 5 or 8 more hydros every few hours or so. Get home, repeat my morning routine and then get myself ready to go out partying. Continue popping both hydro and soma throughout the night, all while tossing back a minimum of 6 'Double' 151/Redbulls (from a generous bartender since I always tipped well and would go there often). Head out of the club at 2am with the rest of my friends who were all doing the same thing I was doing (except the 151, of all the things mentioned, that was too much for them to maintain their awareness) and hit up the after hours hangouts and 24hr taco shops, but that's how high our tolerances had become. It's hard to articulate just how lucky I feel to be alive and breathing after going through that process for at least 8 years or so. To be frank, I feel so lucky to have realized how much I was screwing up, and then open enough to talk with a different and sober friend about needing help, because I can't imagine what it must be like these days considering all of the counterfeit Fent pressed stuff out there within the past several years. That's so damn frightening.

People view it differently than alcohol because lots of people people drive to work and back every day on prescription pain medications (whether they should or not) and other RX's without even thinking about it being an issue. Even if medically it can potentially be worse than driving under the influence of alcohol, it's simply more easy to be empathetic for prescription drugs due to how society views them. Also, he took adderall. I don't understand why that was even being focused on by the police. Literally millions of people legally drive around on adderall every single day. Not even sure why he lied about that and said he took Ambien. Ambien is actually dangerous.

You have a recommended surgery, you’re prescribed pain killers, you take as prescribed, and then get sick when the prescription runs out so you look for more elsewhere. Add the trauma of war to this equation and addiction would almost be imminent. Hoping for the best for this guy.

I'm amazed that after being read his Miranda rights and knowing he's been a cop, that he sat there and answered their questions. This is an example that it doesn't matter what you know or who you are, when you get into the interrogation room, the police will do everything they can to get you to confess. There are three officers in the room asking questions, with two standing of them standing above him, which indicted a power position over him. Most people in this position are already dazed, confused and nervous and don't know how to act, so they start talking. I'm not condoning his actions, he needs help and hopefully he gets it. But, imagine you are innocent and the pressure police put on people in these rooms is why you need a lawyer to make sure you are not saying something that can be twisted into a confession. Any lawyer out there would never allowed this conversation to happen.
