Brief show & tell on the factory tool kits that came with all air-cooled Porsche 911 cars. In particular we will be going over the contents of the G-body tool kits (1974-1989).
    Additional Notes:
    1. UPDATE: I described the runner diameters incorrectly in the video. The correct diameters are:
    1973.5 (30mm)
    1974-1977 (34mm)
    1978-1979 US and 1978-1983 EU (38mm)
    1980-1983 US (34mm)

Hi Joe, the 'weird' hex with angle and rubber attachment is for the installation of the battery. The smal tube is the extension for it. I have a original pic from Porsche that i could send you but i can not find an e-mailadress on your website ( i subscribed by the way) . Love all of your 911 content, i restored my sunroof with your detailed instruction. Thanks very much for that and keep posting. Greetings from Holland!

Fantastic. You are absolutely right. The battery hold down bracket has one of the few socket head cap screws on the car. Thank you so much for the clarification!

The one that was in my 1996 993 C2 was certainly missing items.
But thanks to THIS vid, I now know what I should endeavor to acquire.

Great videos. My 1980 SC has a black tool kit. Didn’t know I was missing some of those items, thanks.

The long L shaped wrench with the rubber cap is for operating the windows and the sunroof in case of motor failure.

Hi Joe, just stumbled on your site and love your content. I am on the same journey restoring a 1968 911T. Live in Dublin Ireland. I am smiling as I could make the same toolkit video and agree with your comments. I am using the 911 / 912 PORSCHE restoration guide to authenticity 2 by Dr. B. Johnson. It’s an invaluable resource for getting pictorial and documented references for details on all elements of the car. Some of the content there would be useful but I am sure there must be a specific edition for the SC generation. Also highly recommend the VelocePress Workshop manual …Floyd Clymer publication. Keep the videos coming, very helpful for the obsessed!

Thanks for the kind words, Paul. I forget that a lot of these details lost by the factory are documented in some fantastic print books!

🙏 thanks Jose. I was hoping you’d be able to spell out a modern replacement set (since I’m missing my kit) - would be great to know all the tools I can buy to make a substitute set

Plus one on using EvapORust on the tools. Amazing product. Soak for 24 to 48 hours.
