My 1931 Ford Model A and my 1932 Ford sedan both have the actual toolkits that came with them when they were new (including, the grease guns, the air pressure guages, and the tire pumps). But I keep seeing the individual original tools at second hand / antique stores. Sometimes I buy them just to have spares. I bet you could find original Porche tools at places like that too.

It is not original, but better than the original kit

What?! No tire pressure gauge? The original kits had one. ;-)

Thank goodness you didn’t pay that much for it, why would someone pay 3 grand for a tool kit? I don’t see the sense in that. You got yourself a bargain and as for the 914, excellent job on the sale.

It’s a nice looking tool kit. I was going to sew up a bag and collect the various items needed to complete it but by the time it takes to make it up its probably not worth the hassle after seeing the one you bought . I worked on a original owner car with the original tool kit in the car and she said I could take it if I needed the tools in it and I told her that I would not even think about using any of the tools in it and told her I that kit was only for emergency only. I told her I wouldn’t take it. It goes with the car and if she takes it anywhere else to work on it that she should keep that kit at home. I showed her on my computer and we found one for $13500 . She thanked me for being honest and not taking it but even I couldn’t do that to a old lady

I assembled my own 356 tool set from old pictures and what I had lying around in the workshop. Including the air pressure meter and belt. Built a hubcap remover by heat bending a screw driver 😀

At the start of the video my thought was that you shouldn't have spent the money on that but when I saw the Porsche branding on the outer box and the quality of the leather case and the individual branded items (I am a sucker for legit branded bits and pieces like that) I was fully on your side by the end. What I had expected was for it to have Porsche on the case but not on of the tools, the way it is I am surprised you got it the price you paid.

That was fun to watch. Once a car is close to being sorted, def fun to then start looking at all the doodads to outfit it with. As you say, probably not useful but satisfying to look at. I like to get all the brochures and manuals for my cars

@@Jerod_Helt Thanks for the reply. Just one more question on the Model T build. It is about the magneto. Can you explain what you were doing when you increased the magnification? Out of all your builds, that was the only part where I was totally stumped! Thanks in advance.

I like such tool kits. Craftsman came out with specific tool kits years ago. I had a Harley at the time. My wife bought me the Harley tool kit one year for Christmas. She bought me a SAE tool kit another year and the Metric tool kit another year. I keep the Metric tool kit with my Yamaha V Star. I have the other one in a safe dry place in my garage. They came with a small can of WD 40, electrical tape, wrenches, screwdrivers, a spark plug socket and ratchet, zip ties, pliers, a tire pressure gauge and I added a mechanic type towel in each kit. While not leather, they came in a Cordera type fabric with snaps. I keep the one in my motorcycle bag in a gallon ziplock type bag. The Germans always include some tools with their cars. They usually have a first aid kit in the car also.

    • @Makatea

First aid kits are mandatory in german cars since 1970.
