I grew up in a very small town, all the way across the Atlantic, in a country unbeknownst to most. I was seventeen and this was my favourite song back then; i used to relate to every word, every harmonica note, and every guitar strum.. Ten years later the song still has the same emotional power on me.. Real music knows no boundaries; be they temporal or spatial ones... Thank you Boss
I was seventeen when my wife got pregnant just graduated from high school and thank God we are on 33rd year of being partners and 26th year of wedding anniversary.
I couldn't have been older than 8 when my mother traded in my kids lullabies for the Boss. I remember her sitting me down in front of the record player, usually on Sunday mornings. She'd pick out a record and we'd listen to it together and read the lyrics. By the time I was 10 she started taking me to rock concerts, including numerous performances of Bruce Springsteen (both with and without the E-street Band) It's moments that I will treasure forever. Love you mom :)
AS THE SAYING GOES, ONE IN A MILLION, YOUR MOM SURELY WAS ONE IN MILLION BRINGING YOU UP WITH THE MUSIC OF THE BOSS, GOOD ON YOU MOM. PEACE TO YOU ALL MY FRIEND'S. 🙏✌️😎🏴
Bruce, your son is a firefighter, he doesn't do what his father does. Be proud of him! I was a professional firefighter for 40 years, had my family and brother there, he will go his own way and if he doesn't know what to do next, he will go down to the river with you, best regards
With all the en certainty these day’s I suddenly felt the need to hear a bruce Springsteen song I’m a fan from when I was 15 ,and I remember exactly where I was when I heard born to run for the first time.thank you Bruce for all those wonderful songs that made our lives a little bit easier
@Bruce springsteen I wish was the real Bruce!😉❤ No amount of hairdrying time would stop me being mo*st. Sorry 4 crude comment, I'm never crude 😳but damn that man was fine when he was young. I'm 32 and grew up watching my dad's old videos of his. The way that man wore a pair of tight Levi's..😥 anyway I'm away to calm down lol but you cannot compare today's cheap soulless "songs" in the charts to The Boss. Even the kids complain the music is terrible..do young men not play guitar anymore??😢 Bruce wrote poetry and sang them to an astounding melody, my father said he spoke for the common man. His Tom Joad material certainly does. Thank you for your passion Bruce😍 and your very kind comment lol 🌸💕 xx
I was 10, the german moderator told the Boss put one the blues then this went off, and nothing was the same again. now i'm 39. A life with the Boss. Thank you Sir.
Stones and Springsteen have been my life. First saw Bruce on this tour in Jacksonville Coliseum in 1981 ( ironically my first Stones show was also in Jacksonville at Gatorbowl in 75)Love everything he did but prefer the pre Born in the USA stuff.
Amor, meu grande amor! Querido hoje eu te amo mais do que ontem, hoje eu te amo menos do que o amanhã!...Meu namorado @springsteen, te amo te amo te amo ♥♥
The Boss' & the E Street Band It was there that he first met the musicians who would later form his E Street Band. Around this time, Springsteen also acquired his nickname, "The Boss," because he had a habit of collecting money earned during shows and then distributing it evenly among his band mates.
Yeah! beautiful song. But, uhm, now listening to it more clearly, I wonder what's it all about? He and she got pregnant, than he had no work no longer, but she says she doesn't care, they go to the river, the river is dry.... well, what's the point? She doesn't lose her life, does she? And nobady tells us that the baby shouldn't be all healthy and fine .... so, why is this a sad song? Why the sorrow? For what?
I was 15 when this album came out, and THIS is the song that made me a lifelong Springsteen fan.
me too.. i lived on the edge of town.. amd thought he was talkin to me!
all time favorite LP
I was 15 when I heard it. Same.
I’ve had so many favorites, this definitely held the title for a long time.
I was 25 when I heard it. And I am still listening ‘THE RIVER’ today. for 25 years

Young people don't know how much they have lost stuck with today's music. That's the good thing, they don't know so it can't hurt.

Ele sempre chora nessa canção, muita emoção
I can honestly say Springsteen lyrics are almost as interesting as the music can't say that about many performers
That's because you have a great lyric writer backed up by a great band.

Pretty amazing to write with such gravitas when you're barely out of your twenties.
Emotional

He wrote this about his sister and brother-in-law. They liked it. That's how tough they are.
