Because about a yeat ago on a different game (kerbal space program) i watched a modded vid and thought it was vanilla, because it had no mention of mods and i was really let down because i found out that it was a mod. Also i realise that it is really easy to download mods on scrap mechanic, but on some games (like kerbal space program) it is not
These honestly need to be standard features in the game.
Makes me want to build creations that track and stay within proximity. Or fly to locations.

Hey, I think math block is broken with new level based engines. It looks like it only outputs full values making them extremely wiggly. No problem with old engines tho

Yes it's still broken. I can't do anything with the orientation block.
@@Michael-cz3xm I think that I figured out that it works with some modded engines that use the old code (from before you could level up stuff). Try some engines from new legend mod.

Hi! I recently have gotten into scrap mechanic and mods within it and have decided to learn The Modpack and it’s features! I just started the orientation block and have made successful turrets thanks to the video! However sometimes they just break and don’t do what they are meant to after I don’t change from one Orientation setting to another, is there any way to fix this or is it a bug? Also I’ve tried making a car that follows a player but I can’t figure out how to do it and it’d be awesome if you could tell me how to do it!
The problem with scrap mechanic I have is the lack of information what specific blocks do. I wish there is a wiki with all the information you have listed in this video

is there a mod with bearings that work like normal bearings but output their instantaneous rotation? I need something like that to make better logic-controlled smart engine walkers.

Can you track a place in a world using coordinates and an orient block? I might have missed something but I can't make it work if it's a feature :(

Edit: I forgot but the the Orient Block the function for an “effective” range could it also apply to spudguns or modded guns so the only fire when they have a target? Thanks.

in regaurds to the part with the orientation block ..
i did everything you did to the letter and it doesnt work for some reason.. I created it on new worlds and exsisting .. even to the dimensions and placements to did it .. and still nothing, so either the mod pack isnt working right or I missed something ? dont get me wrong i like trial and error but im no idiot when it comes to making an exsact copy .. the colors were done correct the connections and the settings you did i copied also, but still my creation just rotates because of the bearings connected to the electric motor.. any help would be great as im completely lost is what i may of missed.
Would it be possible to make a spud gun (portable and placeable) with controllable knock back
or even with explosive rounds, where you can controll the dimension of the explosion with number input?
for example:
white value = knockback (dealt to targets)
light grey value = recoil
dark gray value = strenght of the explosion ( 0 as standart value, so that the rounds aren´t explosive without number input)
black value = projectile speed and bulletdrop
Not possible without making fully custom projectiles like the cannons in the modpack beta
I'm pretty sure recoil would be too OP if controllable with a number value. Hey, they could add a number controlled spring!
I'm trying to make a flying vehicle that hovers above a tracker, but I'm having no success and I don't know what part of the video will cover the information I need.
Can please make tutorial where you would show new logic of math block, smart sensor And smart timer I also want to ask what do P and L on orient block mean ( when they are shown) And the last Is can i put tracker frequency on orient block on blacklist

Unfortunately, any complicated explanations will have to wait, as we're still working on these new parts! I want these videos to make sense in the future too! So until the parts themselves are actually finished, I can't really make a useful tutorial video.

Durf, is there a way to implement a color switch where you have different color switches activate different features so for example the setting for terrain orientation is active by a white switch and i deactivate it and use the red switch to activate camera tracking
Yes, and no.
It is technically possible to implement stuff like that in the orient block; though it would be confusing, require tutorials to explain it all, ask players to memorize colors that's already a bad situation for some mods...just a lot of hassle for something barely worth it.
But even then, it is possible to use multiple orient blocks, each set to their own mode.. then you build a switch with multiplication blocks (you can turn on x1 or turn off x0 - any of the orient block outputs, and how they effect your creation)
It is possible to build the solution in game :D
Hey, it is possible to output a value athe W/S or the A/D channel like forthe WASD Thruster you need a WASD or only AD or only WS inputs, but I wanna use only use one WASD Thruster, so can we send values only for WS or AD ? I hope that makes sense
If you look at the thruster, there is a screen which displays the current mode of the thruster
there is a regular WASD mode, so if the thruster is firing to the back, and the screen is facing upwards on the craft, pressing WASD will move the thruster according to THAT orientation of the craft.
There is another mode, where WS is inverted, but AD is normal, and this can be used in the front/back of the craft, to help pitch the craft with WS presses. Since the front would be pushed in the opposite direciton vertically as the back, it would change pitch...but all AD signals are the same for all thrusters.
Similarly, there are WS ONLY and AD ONLY modes too, if you want to separate those controls for your craft.
Keep in mind that these modes are even more useful if you consider the orientation of the thruster itself!!!
for example: WASD thruster in regular WASD mode...normal
in WS inverted mode ? AD is normal, and WS is flipped.
same mode, ws invert, but this time, we place the thruster physically upsidedown (so the screen is downwards now). and all of a sudden, AD is flipped and WS is normal.
So it really depends on how you built with it, and what mode the thruster is in, that will determine what each one does when you press w, a, s, or d each.
I highly recommend just fiddling with it, placing all the thruster modes right side up and upsidedown, hopping in a seat and pressing buttons...it's way better than reading my text 😉

Could you add a brake servo part? It would connect to bearings and it would lock them up upon logic input
You can actually build this with the Smart Engine Controller part
unfortunately I don't have a tutorial on that part yet... and these game updates put a delay on that sort of..
But basically you can use that smart engine on a bearing, and tell it what angle, power, and speed, to set the bearing to (if there is no angle input, then it's just like an engine with positive and negative direction, but it won't care what angle the bearing is at)
So you can make the engine behave like a gas engine or electric engine, depending on the speed/power combo you use
which is set with number logic...which you can use things like math blocks to multiply your power with a switch connected to a seat....
So you can (at the flip of a switch) multiply your bearing strength (and turn on the brakes)
I definitely have to make that video...it'll be a useful one to have...but that's getting into the more advanced number logic usage... if you haven't seen the other number logic vids on this channel, you 100% need to before using smart engine.
@@ScrapMechanicMods Ye, I already figured out how to do it with a logic button, number block and a memory panel (and a keypad/counter to set up the panel), I already built two cars featuring a brake. Not to mention a manual "ignition" done with a key switch and using a "dumb" gas engine for fake engine sound.

You might need to flip a bearing around...best place to get help is our discord, where you can share links and screenshots and stuff
is there is a block that u can connect an activator(ex switch) to the the block which have an ui by which you can choose a button from ur key board that if pressed it well activate the activator(switch or button) then connect it to the thing that needs to be activated (bearing) then to the seat the will control it by pressing the button on the keyboard if not i hope u add it

Closest in 3D space. If a straight line from the orient block to the player is shorter than another straight line to another player, the shorter one wins.
Yes, you can consider the orient block taking into account altitude differences.
I don't understand why, but the orientation block doesn't work properly for me. When I am in the driver's seat, the camera does not take into account the turn of the vehicle, as a result, I look to the east, at the moment when the camera will look somewhere to the side. At the same time, I play the same assembly with my friend in a co-op and the same block works adequately for him. Can your mod access some libraries that might be outdated on my laptop?
P.S. This happens not only with your modification, but with any modification to track the target. An example is the turret AI mod, and the camera control mod. :(

You'll probably want to broadcast the ID with the wireless router.
Or you could build a scanner that searches all IDs and stops at the desired target.

Hey, i like scrap mechanic and its so much fun to play and build! But one of the worst things in the game ist the bouncing on the ground. Can this be adjusted or removed with a mod? because when a car is driving 150 b/s its bounces so much and its just unrealisty, so can this be removed?
Try increasing the gravity of the vehicle with a gravity modulator or gravity module.
Unfortunately not possible with mods. A nice balance between vehicle weight and suspension can help a lot!

"Predictive" mode, and advanced usage tutorials will be made after the other parts have their tutorials made first.
Basically, a spudgun turret will try to lead the shot, so the spud hits a moving target = predictive mode P
L is for local mode vs Absolute mode (default)...it's complicated and really makes no difference in most builds...anyway, that's for a future video.

Can you make a tracker track onto people with thrusters instead of engines?
Yes, though it would be better to use a Smart Thruster of some kind, so the power values aren't just "on/off", and can do like 2% power thrust if it's just a small turn needed

I allready tried a couple of soloutions that ended up breaking because of them being extremely complicated and rube goldberg machine like.
nvm I rube goldberg'd it.
If you still need:
you can use the math block to check less than or greater than values for the orient motors. If the orient is turning the guns at value > 0.2 then you know the gun is moving pretty fast. But if it's less than 0.2, then you know the gun is pretty much at it's target, moving slowly.
So a BLACK counter block with 0.2 in it ---> math block LESS THAN
Your orient block (white) ----> math block LESS THAN
That math block will be 1 or 0, telling you when to fire the guns (adjusting the 0.2 in the counter block is the sensitivity)

@@ScrapMechanicMods i found it a lot simpler to use a 1x1 thruster on a short suspension with a sensor to pickup any movement. I have reduced the mechanisms size to 5x2 even with balancing. Somehow it is still capable of flying.
edit: realised a major mistake in my plan and i am going to try this.

since some recent updates, it might be that the orient block does not work with vanilla engines and seats.
You should still be able to use modpack engine and seat for these purposes. Let me know if you're still having trouble or not
