About Trailmakers:
In the toughest motoring expedition in the universe, you and your friends will build your own vehicles to cross a dangerous wasteland. Explore, crash horribly, use your wits to build a better rig, and get as far as you can with whatever spare parts you find on your way.
Welcome to the Ultimate Expedition!
Journey over grueling mountains, hazardous swamps, and bone-dry deserts on a distant world far from civilization - it is just you, your fellow adventurers and the amazing, jet-powered hover-buggy you built yourself. Explore, crash your vehicle, build a better one, and get as far as you can with whatever spare parts you find along your way.
Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

Dogfight planes that use dropping power coupling nets/slinkys as the weapon. Bring your enemy down with planned spaghettification.
Sounds a bit like DELAYED ANNIHILATION

scrapman: little coupler its time to test again!
coupler: NO PLEASE LET ME HEAL FROM ALL THE STRETCHING!!!!

A slinky starts at 0 and only retracts back to 0. A conventional spring starts at 100 and only expands back to 100. A slinky has to start/be built at 0 and the stiffness needs to be set low. Best of luck SM. Love your videos. Just trying to help.
Slinky is stretch spring
Slinky is artisanal rubber band
@LegoGoblin what is that? 😅😅😅🤔
you have to do more experiments with the slinky, but in space! i can just imagine the cool wave propagation and bounciness! (using thrusters of course)
I would love to see that for sure
Would still love to see an ornithopter dogfight where the flapping wings are made using the power couplings, a combat version of your proof of concept. No propellers, jets, rockets, etc., purely flapping for flight, unless the low speed is just too impractical.
Maybe with low-no auto aim, but than again there would be quite a bit of bouncing from the flapping.
i love the experiments you do with power coupling it’s always very entertaining
Make a caterpillar that relies on slinky physics to move around
The other fun things that slinky's do is when you hold it up and send pulses down. Like the wave effect thing you were doing but vertical instead. Maybe try suspending it on a structure with a piston that can go up and down to create the wave/pulses? Or make something similar to the slinky dog toy? It looked like it had SO much potential to be a slinky. I was cheering it on LOL
Act like a spring under tension? Like if you attach a car to the end and pull, will it pull you back when you stop moving? If so, tractor pull competition
nope, it doesn't, it acts like rope, which can bend but not stretch or compress.
A power coupling worm vehicle would be nuts if possible!
He should build the sacred Shai-Hulud!
anything physics-related in trailmakers makes the physics just like "AAAAAAAAAAAHH!!!"
Gravity mod. You could decrease the gravity to make the slinky compress less. Down the ramp was REALLY close to slinkying
you don't need mods to decrease gravity anymore
@@trikooo even better!
next you should try to make a power coupling car like the piston and suspension car and try to drive it
I had this idea recently, which I thought could turn out pretty cool. You could build some arresting wires, set them up on the aircraft carrier and try landing a plane with a hook into them
Catarinth - *Detaching Cause Spaghetti*
New single out now!
“It’s final form” like the power couplers evolve into spaghetti.
Put the slinky on the catapults in the danger zone map. For the fun of it.
That is what my mind thought too😂
Make a tesla coil using the power couplers spaghetti physics, Project Storms video about them may help.
Huh. I wonder if you could make a locomotive snake with this Slinky concept. Interesting.
Who knows? It might even benefit the construction of THE ALMIGHTY FLOPPY WALKER!!! X]
Videos like this just convince me that Trailmakers is the new BeamNG
To be honest, when I read the title I thought "This is going to be a disaster". I did not expect you to come out of this with a very janky but working slinky. Well done! Love watching you solve problems, awesome videos :)
Still hoping to see a test if angle sensors dynamically update when on floppy power couplers.
I have a suggestion:
You guys should do a demo derby but your only weapon is a trailer.
This is probably a video the devs are watching with despair in their eyes :D
The experiment videos are always my favorite! This slinky would make a cool Kite tail or be interesting pulling it behind a flying vehicle...I'm only at 13 minutes so maybe you end up doing that by the end of the video. We'll see!
the slinky with thrusters made worm like movements, in other words: MAKE A WORM
When you did the coupler wheels, it was master builder level, now this takes it up a notch.
Perhaps using the power couplings as some sort of weapon because of how they glitch? Like a MOAB/FOAB (big bomb)?
I think it would be cool for you to make a submarine that moves like a fish with power couplings (i was inspired for this idea by the glider you made because it kinda looks like a bird)
Idea: so you know those mobile game ads where they build rope to stop a high speed object or car well try that
Another idea if that isnt good: Have a sling shot
Make tensegrity structures with them, should be amusing
3:35 The power couplers looked like barbwire which made me think what if you tried to make barb wire out of power couplers and see how much damage it does when you drive into it
can you make a whip that breaks the sound barrier at the tip please
Really hard to do but he could try
Would it be possible to make a ball with power couplers. A little like how an air less basketball works.
You could definitely weaponize the sphagetti
Hey scrapman, I think I may have a way of reducing your collision issue with power coupling. so with the double power coupling slinky if you add a 1X2 block in between each segment and then take 4 1X4 flat connectors or shields and connect 1 to both ends and on the top and bottom sides of the 1X2 blocks this should in theory give more surface area for the slinky to rest on without sacrificing the functionality of the slinky because the power coupling have no collisions with other parts. I hope this helps fix your slinky and I hope to see a follow up video of the slinky if this concept fix's it. love your content!
That's pretty cool!
in space!
im still waiting for you to turn freaking out power couplers into a weapon
Could you not have just added a gimble jet to the top of the first idea and then adjusted it so that it keeps it upright but doesnt fly?
And then you can turn it on and off to simulate the wave effect
@@garlicbreadstick404 Thats a great idea! Also even if it couldn't do exactly what scrapman might have wanted it to do it still would've been interesting.
Y'know, I think you can make the round/spiral one form properly by offsetting the delay on each section by like 0.1 second from the one before it (1.0 to 0.9 to 0.8 and so on).
The reason it went tangled is because it contracted from straight to round all at once along the entire length, introducing chance as to whether each section would allign in order, or out of order.
Every section curling together at a slight delay from the section before it should make it form a proper spiral structure.
Now, as to whether it'll "slinky" or just Spaz out like the square version, well, I havent got a clue.
You could make a snake battle with these😂.
"Oh no! no!... detatching it causes spaghetti 🥲" -scrapman 2024
so remember when you create a wave in a slinky u have to push together then pull apart to continue. Maybe try 2 forward thrusters and 2 backwards thrusters at opposing corners
the slinky refuses its inner demon💀
It’s okay, I usually have trouble getting my real slinkies to go down stairs
Try making a collision battle. No weapons are the only limit. C4 is allowed though.
Slinky race.
Build slinkys and move them with your characters.
Or build cars with slinky bodies
hes playing with fire
use the extra complexity mod and try to make a giant car that uses power coupling springs as suspension
Could make a satisfying looking caterpillar with this slinky power couplers
If you use parallel power couplers you can change the direction of the forces (mostly) side by side x they move mostly in the y, if you have them on top of each other y, they will move more in x.
If you use the suggestion above but with a slight off set from the ends of each other you can spiral it for even better spring/slinky effect
this gives me an idea of making a car out of that slinky design
I wonder if you could get standing waves through a line of power couplers. That might be interesting to try.
The spaghetti looks like it could be used as a target lock scrambler
This has me wondering if you can make tensegrity stuctures 🤔
I think with proper logic you could make a really cool looking earthworm or snake with that concept!
12:21 "this transsends even Trailmakers phyics" whilest playing Trailmakers
Scrapman, I love the video but you did something wrong and I think you should revisit this, slinky’s aren’t low stiffness springs, in fact they are the opposite of springs, they naturally want to be compressed, not depressed like springs, you made something compressible that’s why it was a bit of a wet noodle, you should go fully round the square and then up one to make da real slinky!
What walks down stairs,
Alone or in pairs
And makes a slinkity sound?
A spring, a spring, a marvelous thing!
Everyone knows it's Slinky.
It's Slinky! it's Slinky!
It's fun, it's a wonderful toy.
It's fun for a girl or a boy.
It's fun for a girl or a boy.
Make an anti air that shoots a power coupler net at planes
I absolutely love your content and love when you upload
For some reason, this video has inspired me to try a newton's cradle using these..... I wonder
I wonder if you could make a whip out of the new power couplers?
You could try to built something simmular to move like a robbing animal
i wonder if just putting a regular peice at one end of the slinky would fix the stiffness issue when its disconnected
Try this in 0-G it would be very intresting and also try making a car with this and 0 stiffnes suspension in the middle to stabilise it
I need a count for: "this is like a slinky"
i just realized, when did sm change his trailmaker colours, it was red and black but now its black and red
with how spaghettify doing
if be possible to control it
you could make ultimate mele weapon of mass destruction
i would love to see of ScrapMan can reach it
Experiment idea!
Slinky suspension on a car!
Next multi player idea (not sure if possible) using the chaos as a weapon to defeat the others
I love scrap man trying to be scientific
Instead of thrusters, shouldve used propellers, has a forward and reverse function
You should do a over powered space ship versus 2 small spaceships
Its coming back from spaghetti thanks to the pipes
you should build a netgun
You should make a safety net with the power couplers
I have not watched the whole video, but with how flexible the couplers are attached them end to end and have the final end attached to a servo and a piston to twist and add hight. Keep the base of the piston attached to the anchor block
Slinky, slinky, everybody loves a slinky. Watch it fall down the stairs, everybody loves a slinky.
I think I just showed how old I am.😅
When you attached thrusters it looked like a worm so attach 4 morr thrusters to the front with flat connecters and make it like a catapilar 😅
You could maybe move some shipping containers into stairs.
YES more kraken physics!
Using this concept, can you make a snake like vehicle? Or maybe a sea serpent?
Yeah! Experiment videos are the best!
You should try make a wave generator with them like when you were talking about the wave effect in the video
Do you think do it with hinges will work? Like just hinges no power coupler
Time for a SLINKY BATTLE!!!
the slinky version 2, it kind of resembles a fluid robotic arm? If you anchored it vertically and had some kind of thrusters and stuff at the end to kind of hover or fly, the slinky would act like a tether with some chaos upon max stretch? I don't think theres any practical use other than "it looks cool" or some kinda challenge video lol
'detaching causes the SPAGHETTI'
Would it be possible to create a creation using power couplers that can survive terminal velocity? Like the egg drop thingy where you have straws poking out all over the egg so it doesnt crack when it hits the ground, this time the egg is replaced with your seat
interesting if this is true then could a power coupling grapling hook work?
Could u wepnize the power cooling by making it spegeti on the oponet
Could it work as like a "real" suspension? What if it supported a platform, would it be bouncy?
Idea: trap an animal with a net
Can you wrap power cupelings around the astroid on the space map
What if you attach pistons to the other side and anchored it to make a wave simulator
the 1.8 update is soooo coooollll😢
can u make something with power couplings in which every power coupling got different stiffness
Could you use the power coupler spaghetti as a weapon?
Turn your slinky into a snake that you can drive
