    i'm thinking of doing this. I have no sewing skills so I'm thinking of making the dimensions match standard bed sizes so I can use a foam mattress cover with zipper, and now as I'm typing this with one hand holding a baby with the other I got to the end of the video and you suggested just that so i'm on the right track. i want to make the back fold down flar so with US sizes if its rwo twin XL it would combine to a king. me and kids have a video game room so it would go there. thanks for the videos

      Yes the mattress option is a great no-sew alternative :) There are a lot of different types of filling to choose from too, spring, foam, mix. Thank you for watching and glad it helped! Good luck with yours!

    Nice project. I'm sure someone probably mentioned this already, but adding a layer of dacron will make this soft look and feel even better. Great job any way you slice it!

    I love square minimalistic stuff. Seamless covers with square corners. I love it!

    I made a "Cloud" sofa similar to this...
    The pillow covers called "Envelope" are the best ... You did it beautifully.
    My material was Painter's Drop Cloth!
    Very durable and Cheap.. made of cotton...

      Drop cloth is a good idea! Agre, Envelope are definitely the best, easy to put on and take off, and don't have to worry about zips or buttons breaking!

    Seems like it would be simple to modify the box cover by making the top fabric a little longer to cover the additional length of the back of the cushion.

      Yes definitely! It depends on where you want your closing/opening to be.

    Nice work and looks awesome!
    Two things i want to mention. Short disclaimer, I have no idea of sewing. My wife is the one who is the pro, but i know one or two things.
    First, if you do not intend to close the back with a zipper you could have let both backpieces overlap. Like a pillow often used in a hotel… Second i think you don‘t have to cut of and seperate the backpieces. So the only thing you have to sew togehter are both sides. Less work and you don’t get into the problem that it doesn’t fit perfect at the end. So… Maybe next time 😉.
    PS: sry for my bad english.

      Thank you! How cool that your wfe is a pro, sewing is so hard :D
      Yeah I did consider doing the overlap thing on the box corner cushion, but I thought with it being so long (over 2 metres) that it would be less awkward with a wider opening. But maybe when I do a second set :D Thanks for the tips!
      And no, your English is perfectly good :)

    Hey awesome job definitely going to give this a go! How do you figure out the dimensions for the trapezium base cushion? I found a foam store near me and I will be giving them my measurements.

    • @HomewithMelody
      @HomewithMelody  3 місяці тому

      The degree is the same as the back of my plywood base which I made myself, so I had all the dimensions I needed! As it's basically a rectangle with one side that is slanted, you could measure the bottom depth and top depth to get the trapezium dimensions. Hope this helps!

    About how much did this project cost all together?

    Thanks for this video, it's really inspiring. I'm seriously considering doing this myself now. Just one question, do you regret the high density foam for the seat cushion and wish you got medium density? Or is the high density working well for you?
    I'm considering using medium density with zig zag wire underneath rather than a solid wood base, but if you say that the high density foam cushion on the solid wood base doesn't lead to numb-bum, I'll go with that!

    • @HomewithMelody
      @HomewithMelody  2 роки тому +1

      Your very welcome! Haha good question. My high density foam is quite thick, so I think that adds to the comfort. I lounge and do work on it for long periods of time, so working for me :) But comparing wood base to zig zag wire I would say the latter definitely sounds more comfortable!

      Thank you for the reply! Gonna go with zig zag wire then 😀

      Thank you for watching! Plywood was £160 for the 4 sheets used (bought before the price hike). Foam was about £200. Fabric was £45 per metre, used about 5, so £225. Total is less than £600! You can definitely save on the fabric, could get some from £15 per metre I believe, we just splurged out on the linen :)
