I think "Shudder before the beautiful" at Wembley 2015 was a perfect starter for a concert. The weirder start was maybe on their decades tour, where they "kick it off" quite softly with the pipes and flute playing the melody of Swansong, just to go directly into "Dead to the World". The latest tour usually starts with the intro to the song music.... Getting heavy on the drumming, but then they go straight into "Noise". Not my favorite way to open a concert maybe, but as you say, it sets the tone for the rest of the concert.
Most of those 82K never saw Floor with the band and this opener is a great one imo to warm up the audience. There are only a few bands who know how to open a concert correctly and get you focussed on what is coming the next 2 hours. NW is one of them. Please do a reaction to Shudder before the Beautiful. This is the opener at Wembley 2015, then you see what i mean
I think this is a great opening song. This is a metal show and they needed to start out with an up tempo song even a little thrash metal vibe. very few Nightwish songs are faster paced than this one. The lyrics are perfect for the opener. It is all about the show. Welcome to Tuomas' fantasy. His music is the Dark Chest of Wonders! The darkness is the night. All shows happen at night. The Dark also represents the unknown, which is what art is all about. A creation that can be anything your imagination can conjure up. Once I had a dream And this is it Once there was a child’s dream One night the clock struck twelve The window open wide Once there was a child’s heart The age I learned to fly And took a step outside Once I knew all the tales It’s time to turn back time Follow the pale moonlight Once I wished for this night Faith brought me here It’s time to cut the rope and fly Fly to a dream Far across the sea All the burdens gone Open the chest once more Dark chest of wonders Seen through the eyes Of the one with pure heart Once so long ago
This concert was the biggest challenge for Floor she ever had to pass on a stage. In order to give her the necessary security from the beginning, they chose a song that she could sing in her sleep.Everyone in the band, especially Floor, knew what depended on this concert. The pressure was correspondingly high, especially since the DVD was to be recorded here. And not to forget that Floor was still a guest singer and not yet a permanent band member.
Well, actually Floor were already a permanent member, they signed the papers in June, but it didn't become official until October. But everybody in the band and crew - and Floor herself - knew already that she was going to be the new singer, from the start of the year - but Floor still had ReVamp also, and no reason to put to much pressure on her. The chemistry in the band after she arrived, made it clear that the band finally had found their 'missing link'.
I don't think this song was the opener because of Floor being new to the band. Dark chest of wonders was recorded on Once (2004) album with the first singer Tarja, and it was the show opener already for the Once world tour. And it has been on the setlist ever since, and probably will be in the future too. For this Imaginaerum world tour (2012-2013) they had a different opener for their own shows: Taikatalvi/Storytime, but that was not the most suitable opening for festival gigs like Wacken, where the audience might not be so familiar with the bands catalogue. Festival shows need more straightforward songs in the beginning that the audience knows, especially the opener. When you watch the whole Wacken show you find out, that also the lighting and pyros in this song are more like a punch in the face, if you compare to other songs. Especially in the beginning they have very fastpaced "ADHD" lights, when normally NIghtwish uses more atmospheric lights. They wanted to start with this kind of straightforward song and big light show to wake up the audience and get them pumped up straight from the beginning. I think that is how most rock/metal bands start their shows, especially in festivals. And of course the song is very familiar to them and a relatively easy one to play and sing, just the kind of a song you normally start with. I find that if you need to pick just one song that best represents all Nightwish music, it would be Dark chest of wonders. It has all the elements that makes Nightwish: hard rocking guitars, bass and drums, epic symphonic background, choirs and orchestra, some irish/folk sounding melodies, some tempo and key changes, lyrics talking about imagination and adventure.
🤩👌💥💯 Time to get an audience and the artists them selves pumped up... With "Dark Chest of Wonders"!!! Chest of a human, which includes the heart, lung chambers surrounded by caging bones or a treasure Chest full of wonders... (???) Just let's not the darkness get into neither one 😉 🤘😎🇫🇮💙
They see themself as a vehicle for their Music and Emotions, might be one reason they just went for it. Then, it's a Open-Air so they have a very strict timeline (they played for over 2h so...^^). And after all, they introduce themself during the concert :) (its often cut out in these single songs)
This is opening song from Once album. Sometimes they play it in the middle of a set also. Nightwish has a good variety in their songs. Some i like and some i dont.
Not judging at all, but she did talked with Simone Simons about fillers and botox on the video/interview they did on Floor Finds. And she said in a post she was getting hair extensions and then cut her hair because she doesn’t want to anymore. In some videos of interviews in the Netherlands you can see Floor had “something” done to her face and lips. But then again, I loooove Floor, and to me she is beautiful with or without long hair, or fillers or botox, etc. Non of that affects her singing so she can do whatever she likes and it would not make a difference! ❤
There are so many songs from NW around, and never heard a mediocre or bad one. So if you want to explore more, just follow the (very extended) list of the NW general, Gabriel Bardac... Like to explore the different styles Floor can sing? You could start with her project Northward, together with Pagan's Mind guitar player Jörn Viggo Lofstad. Start with While love died! Another favourite of mine: (Floor growling with her band Revamp): Precibus (take the upscaled version of BaphoRez) or her best cover (IMHO): Adagio, a tribute to Lara Fabian. Floor did many guest appearances, like together with Marko Hietala (NW) and the band Delain: a Day for Ghosts (in the Broerenkerk, Zwolle the Netherlands)
You shouldn't be so strict, because it's their honest opinion. And let's be honest, this song is really not the most complicated. We have the advantage that we have known the band for years and know about all the connections. They still lack this knowledge. Personally, I prefer an honest assessment ten times better than a fake one.
#greeniesr ... Or should it be "greeniest"? Guess you're not a music producer either, since a real producer wouldn't left such a comment. Especially on a honest Nightwish reaction video... 🙈 🤘😹
Most of the people there had not yet heard Floor with Nightwish. This was one hell of a way to introduce 82,000 people to the Goddess.
Thanks a lot, greetings from Colombia
Dark Chest of Wonders is like a classic red wine. It’s just gets better with every listen. And it’s starting as one of Nightwish’s best songs. 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥

I love the voice center stage and the music that surrounds her

Once I had a dream
And this is it
Once there was a child’s dream
One night the clock struck twelve
The window open wide
Once there was a child’s heart
The age I learned to fly
And took a step outside
Once I knew all the tales
It’s time to turn back time
Follow the pale moonlight
Once I wished for this night
Faith brought me here
It’s time to cut the rope and fly
Fly to a dream
Far across the sea
All the burdens gone
Open the chest once more
Dark chest of wonders
Seen through the eyes
Of the one with pure heart
Once so long ago

Makes sense then why to us it sounded like a "easier" song! Thanks for the information!

Yeah we saw that after the video, it was just strange to us as we have been to a lot of shows before
The show is between 1:30 and 1:40 its not two hours
@@fredriknilsson6042 right, it was Tampere just short of 2hrs
Start Wembley 2015…Shudder of the beautiful
Thank you for the recommendation!
A heavier show opener is Shudder Before the Beautiful live at Wembley. POWER!!
If this song doesn’t get you going, nothing will. 🤘🏻

Hair extensions is no option for Floor, also no Botox, she is pure
She will have to get extensions if she wants to do windmills in the next few months...she's just had her hair cut short
She actually did get some hair extensions. But yeah, Botox and stuff, doesn't look like her.

@@isaflechas you are right Isa, I read about her extensions.

the 4 years before floor with anette was always a good but boring start
Worst reaction from you guy's, sure glad your not Music Producers....
That is your opinion. Us not liking it as much as the others does not make it a bad reaction. Its a human one. Remember that when you comment.
