(I'll just say a little bit because it concerns treasure item story spoilers.) what syuen has is her position as CEO of Missilis and Laplace as a new innovation that makes her recognized as CEO, she was the one who believed in Laplace when others thought Laplace didn't have much time left. The best villain in Nikke, arrogant, cocky, but she was given a role not to mess up being a criminal like Crow with hatred for humans, or a role as an enemy of humanity like Rapture/Heretic. She doesn't hurt ordinary citizens because everything she does is to raise the name of Missilis. even as a School of Lock holder for innovation.✨
Call me Missilis-pilled, but I love Syuen. Her voice actor portraits her sooo good. Her actions are questionable at best and right out bad most of the time. But somehow there is something that makes her very likable to me. Maybe it is her stance that she would sacrifice the entire Ark so that Laplace can have her hero moments she always desired. Whenever she appears on-screen, I get a smile as I anticipate the stupid stuff she did now. Until we meet again, Syuen! :D

Here we are, Chapter 18! Let's go, boys and girls! Hero! To me, this is a huge turning point chapter, because now the primary story of this 30 chapter prologue really kicks into it's second half. Also, Laplace is my top, strongest Nikke. And it's not close.
Yeeeaaaah. The best chapter up to that point, potentially aside from 13-14. I was so hyped to see how you felt, especially after you quickly grew attached to Laplace in ch 12.

She has some undisclosed connection to Laplace, from what i understand (and this is if you already have up to this chapter so it's not a spoiler) they had some kind of relationship when Laplace was a human, she wanted to be a hero so Syuen turned her in to a Nikke and used her position and power as a CEO to build the the most powerful team she could around Laplace.... it's true Syuen uses Matis for her own ends but the team exists to make Laplace a hero.... the real question is what was the relationship between them and why does Syuen feel the need to do all this for her. Note: notice she calls all other Nikke as "rust buckets" but never Laplace, and almost never the other members of Matis.
Around 01:38:00 Now that you say it, wasn't Syuen a younger CEO? Which makes me think she might have grown up quite early as the CEO of Missilis and maybe she had to be this "tough" in order to be even respected by the other adult CEOs?
Mmm, I honestly don't feel like Ingrid and Mustang would have given her that much crap (seeing that it's becoming apparent they've been CEOs for a hot minute). I think the respect most likely had to be earned from within Missilis as an organization from what I've seen so far. It does NOT look like a fun and happy place, gives very dog eat dog vibes

(Text has no spoilers and uses only info that has already been relayed in chapters/events played so far) Oh god, the chapter where it hits you that the plot REALLY IS thickening. If early signs in "Brand" being the cliffhanger weren't enough... personally, as a Yuni(+Mihara) Stan™ since I saw them both in Chapter 2, it was so painful seeing her in a state like this - the only more painful thing is still not getting her from the gacha after five months! Also, I think Crow is as much of a wrench in Commander's plans as he is in hers, and not just because of her schemes. You know what's gonna be worse in the eyes of CG than nikkes without NIMPH who still want to help the Ark? Nikkes WITH NIMPH who want to bring it to chaos. If Commander had actually involved the officials to arrest Crow - I think they would feel a renewed sense of threat, and not only re-ban Vapaus as a NIMPH removal method, but also probably invest into a new version of NIMPH to put more boundaries on nikkes' actions... essentially lobotomizing them. Imagine what Anne (and other planned but unreleased Recall and Release members who also would have their NIMPH tampered with) suffers through, but even worse and applied to EVERY nikke. That's how I see it for myself why Commander "keeps it personal": the only way to deal with Crow is to let CG handle her post-factum without much suspicions about nikkes at large.
Man, i really love this arc. Personally, given the situation as a whole, i agree with the plan or i should say i agree with Maxwell, if either Matis knew the plan or if Syuen knew about Laplace's condition, it would of gone much smoother. I honestly don't remember what i picked regarding 'stopping' Laplace but i love the "the thing about hands, they come pairs" part. It's so silly yet makes complete sense. The funny thing is that i hate the whole 'main character made bad situation but fixes it, becoming the hero' plotline but only because it's always framed in the main character's favour whereas here, it's clearly framed as a bad thing (but maybe necessary). The animation is still one of my favourites and same goes for the 2 songs: Wings of Victory and Hero. God, I still have hope that we get a Laplace skin with her hood up, i need it, she cute baby with it up. I was a bit wary of Laplace when she was added at first, i'm not a huge fan of the 'hero' archetype and the Hightech toy event didn't give me a much to work with at the time. However, this arc really got me to love her to where she's one of my favourite characters (and that's not even counting her Favourite Item story), actually, i should say it made Matis my favourite squad. Bonus points that the Manga makes me love Laplace (and Matis) even more. I also really like her(/Matis) dynamic with Syuen, especially given how it was *sold* to me at first with the event. (Since it was talked about in the stream, i'll include that I very strongly disagree with the "Syuen just sees them as toys/objects" take, no way she'd do all this if that was the case.) YES! Finally, someone who isn't swayed by Crow's BS at the end with Yuni.
Mhm mhm, I agree with a lot! Syuen has a lot going on but her feelings towards Matis seem a lot more multi dimensional for sure.. It's sooo easy to make the "hero" come across as a holier than thou type which is what I thought Laplace was going to be at first, I love how bald man proved me wrong AND shot her up to being one of my faves >.< (I really want to do Hightech Toy!) The end with Yuni and Crow was just...sad. It was like watching a masterclass on emotional manipulation and I'm so scared to see how that plotline ends up.....
The end of this chapter still annoys me where Laplace states she is the Savior instead of the Hero. It was a stupid localization choice. The other two languages say Hero. Just annoys me.
